We stayed here 25 years ago.... on our wedding night. It appears that they’ve done NOTHING to upgrade, improve, and even maintain the property. The room smelled musty (almost as if it used to be a “smoking” room). The carpet has not been replaced in 25 years - SO GROSS that I almost didn’t want to walk barefoot on it. We had to clear several bugs & spiders from the wall above the bed (so much for EXTRA Covid SANITIZING). We woke up to an ant party on the night stand and IN/ON the bed. The paint on the walls, doors and even furniture is old and chipped and in need of repair. It appears that they are beginning renovations as there are pot holes, tractors, and noisy machinery, but they really should just CLOSE DOWN the current rooms until they are up to par with a “resort” type name. We wanted to revisit for our 25th/silver anniversary but clearly our marriage has surpassed any longevity that the Pala Mesa ever hoped to achieve. Sadly, we won’t EVER be returning unless MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS-are made or a reputable chain buys them out! Moral of the story: RUN!!!!!! Don’t stay!!! Unless you want to be disappointed!

Beautiful area, excellent restaurant, entertainment golf course, large individual complexes - updating rooms in progress in some areas

Nice hotel in a quiet location. Unfortunatelly the internet connection was not good.

The property is very nice, albeit a bit dated. The resort was recently purchased by Hilton or Hyatt and is about to get some needed updating of the rooms. We enjoyed our stay, but the rooms do need some updating. The buffet breakfast was good and reasonably priced at $13.99. A beautiful setting and surroundings. Lots of birds chirping, hillsides and trees surround the hotel.

So old and dated. It's eventually going to be remodeled, but until it is don't spend your money on this place. The rooms are musty, AC isn't strong at all, carpet is dirty, and there were bugs in the room and in a bunch of other guests' rooms.

Checked into the room, it smelled like mildew, opened the window for air and there was a loud party going on outside. Couldn’t sleep and ended up leaving home within 20 minutes of checking in. Horrible, I would not recommend this place.

Had a great stay! Very nice staff and great customer service, super quick check-in! Price to stay there was a little over-priced....I would not pay over $140 a night. Restaurant was perfect, overlooking the golf course....great food and service!!! Rooms were spacious and great for families too....only issue we had was, we had dinner in our room the night before check out and woke up to tons of ants everywhere. So if you stay there, you have to remember to not keep out anything. Overall, great hotel and we would stay there again!

EXTREMELY overpriced for a dumpy hotel, unhelpful staff and outdated facility/rooms

I’ve stayed in a few hotels in the area. It’s the nicest one I’ve stayed in while visiting family in Fallbrook.

The food and staff were excellent. We enjoyed the attentiveness and recommendations of the staff. The room was large and comfortable. There were plenty of towels.

Fantastic location. Very easy to get to the town of Fallbrook. Beautiful views and well-maintained grounds. Rooms could stand an update. We had trouble with the air conditioning unit (could not keep it switched off) Room had a slightly musty smell, but was clean. With that said, the pillows and bed were comfortable. Staff was friendly. Appreciated having a semi-private outdoor space.

Played a quick 9 holes, only $25! Pretty course. Dinner was wonderful..try the Halibut. Room was very quiet, comfortable bed.

Like the hotel just old Tv not in good working condition blankets smell old

Room was a little outdated but was clean and had a nice little balcony.

This should be a 2 star hotel. La Quinta and similar hotels are in better shape. Mattress folded like a soft taco when I got in the bed. No flat screen TV in the room. Bed spread was from 1970. Everything else in the room was from 1971. Air conditioning did not work. Actually it did. It pumped out 45 degree air even when the thermostat was set to 80 degrees. Had to turn it off, which led to another issue. The staff put me in a room right next to a wedding reception. I was not there for the wedding but I got to hear every drunken scream all night and danced to the "YMCA" by myself in my room. I called the front desk to ask why they would put me and not someone who is there for the wedding next to the reception and they told me they never thought about that.

Very friendly, professional staff; clean, comfortable, convenient room (the bathroom was in need of updating but everything worked fine;) nice pool area. Conveniently located next to freeway with great dining and shopping options a few miles away. The golf course is interesting for all levels of players and well-maintined. We definitely plan on returning!

Upon check in, staff was awesome and upbeat. Rooms are dated, tv static, cob webs in the closet, towels stained. First night, slept well, 2nd night I was housed, between,a family and a group of 4...due to the rooms being connected by an inside door, you can hear "everything." The group of 4 rented the room specifically to party. I did call the front desk. All in all, great location, however I will not be a repeat customer.

I arrived to find that I did not have a reservation. I was told that you were supposed to fax them when a reservation was generated and you did not do that. I was told by the front desk that it would be more effecient and cheaper if I called the Hotel and made my travel arrangements directly with them. It took me 32 mintues to get a room. There was a huge event which I was attending in town and all hotels were booked. I have never paid $170 per night and treated so poorly.

Our stay was terrible. I will not recommend Pala Mesa. The first night we were advised of a wedding going on by our room and that we would probably hear music till 11:00 pm. We did hear loud music, the band could have been in our room it was so loud. The second night we were not informed of another wedding, when we arrived back to our room we noticed the wedding party. We called the front desk and she then advised there was another wedding and again there would be noise until 11:00. -NOT HAPPY... the clerk did move us to another room, another inconvience to our stay, after the first night we really wanted to be able to get some sleep, the clerk was not willing to allow us to cancel our reservation for that night without charging us. The second night apparently we had the wedding party next to us, there were loud people in the room next to us drinking and fighting and then being loud all night.... apparently the walls are way too thin.. I expected a nice stay and we were very very disappointed.
