Lovely hotel. Realy nice breakfast, staff friendly. Location excellent, nice room and really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to both friends and family. Most enjoyable stay. Thanks for making our stay a good one.
Comfortable! Service is GREAT. Breakfast is GREAT. Great parking, very useful. Gym and spa facilities. 20 mins walking to the ferry. 5€ by taxi 5 mins 15 mins away from the airport, we paid 18€ it was weekend and we were 5 sitting plus luggage. Trip was on a van. Mangnificient view over Pico Island. All good for a 4🌟🌟🌟🌟 hotel.
We stayed here the second week of July. Our room was well furnished and the beds comfy. The room had air con which was very welcome. Breakfast was a superb spread of cooked - eggs and bacon, cold meats and cheese, several types of bread, croissants, fruit and I could go on! The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is just across the road from the harbour and central for everything. We didn't dine at the hotel and so cannot comment on this but the restaurant seemed busy most evenings.
I stayed one night with family and the overall impression was good. The staff was friendly and keen to help. The room was not very big just enough for two, but was clean and confortable. Breakfast was also ok. Evrything seems ok in this hotel although there is some room for improvement. The decoration of the main hall as well as of the interior and the inner backyard need some refreshment. It's a pitty that the hotel does not have a swimming pool. It would definitely make a difference.
A part of a party we had little input as to which room. We were disappointed at fist to find a chiming clock but this ceased in the evening. It was very nice to see tea and coffee provided here, the only down side here was the lack of ironing facilities, wanted as we were island hopping Good location, harbour almost across the road for a very nice evening stroll and the supermarket is 10 minutes up the road at the back. The ferry to Pico is only about 15 minutes away and interesting when there. Meals here were very good, unlimited breakfast and plenty of choice from the evening buffet. Dinner was sometimes noisy, due to many loud other guests. There is a quiet reading, relaxing room with balcony on the first floor with good views of the harbour and Mt. Pioo
Did not receive the room requested through hotels.com reservation and was given a room in the back of the hotel on a noisy road with the A/C not working properly. Requested another room and was told no rooms available that evening but they would change my room the next day. The next day, I was given a room with a nice view in the front of the hotel but to my dismay, the A/C was not operating at all in this room. I then complained and was provided another room where the A/C did work. I was told at the front desk that they had been having problems with the A/C system in several rooms. Hotel is in a great location, very close to some good restaurants and the harbor. A nice beach is a short walk down the road. Breakfast buffet is well done and food & beverage is better than most hotels in this price range. Front desk staff and F&B staff very accommodating.
Let's start with the good things - location is quite good and close to the port of Horta as well as in walking distance of the city center and the main supermarket of the island (Continente). Other than that also the cleaning crew was very charming and made a good job in the room. About the room for improvement: 1) When someone pays the full price (instead of going via the various third parties) please don't give them one of the worst available room (next to the main street of the city), especially when the hotel is not fully booked. 2) The welcome/good bye by the receptionist wasn't very charming. 3) The breakfast was below average - even though an "all you can eat" buffet, we weren't very happy with the quality, also the coffee/chocolate milk was mediocre. What made it a bit worse was the automatic follow up eMail after the visit. They asked us to write a review on trip advisor if the stay was perfect, if not (quote: "if your stay was less than perfect") we should liaise with the management and not write a review. While I understand why, I think it's quite unprofessional.
This hotel was wonderful. Marina view. Rooms clean and neat. Breakfast buffet provided same everyday unfortunately. Close to ocean. Walking distance to everything. 4 star. We would return! The staff was helpful too.
This hotel is very nice and modern. It is nicely decorated, and the staff is very attentive. Our room was very comfortable, the exercise room was very nice. They also have a beautiful massage room with a large hot tub, and gleaming mahogany wood floors. We had a very nice dinner with great service. Breakfast was excellent as well
Hotel do Canal is a very comfortable hotel, rooms are of a reasonable size and well appointed, we were with a party so were not able to select our room which overlooked a church wall and small car park not brilliant but it was not of a great concern as we only used the room for changing and sleeping (The room had a small balcony all of 12" in Depth) the rest of the time we were touring Faial. The bar and the bar staff were cheerful and pleasant. The restaurant was comfortable the food was very good and plentiful. There was a small rest area close to the reception but there was a much bigger and more comfortable lounge area on the first floor overlooking the Marina and Pico. The hotel was well situated for Whale watching trips and there was a tour to see Shearwaters. Close to the hotel there is a scrimshaw museum very well worth a visit. Not a lot to see in Faial other than the Marina.
