we boooked a room for two persons with privte bathroom and instead of this we got the most horrible room in a ugly house with a tiny and unconfortable bed and the bathroom was separate and downstairs. There is no reception and if you try to contact someone via phone nobody answer. I don want to even take a shower in this dirty shower. This is the most horrible experience I ever had. This hotel is a nightmare. Because we went to Iceland in August it was difficult to find good hotels, but I would prefer to go camping instead to stay in this horrible and uncomfortable room.

If you book this guesthouse, make sure you have the door code AND a room assignment AND the keybox code for the room IN ADVANCE. There is no reception desk. The phone at the door lists a number which connects with a different hotel. The caretaker is somewhat friendly but completely unhelpful in either getting into the room or finding someone who can help you get into the room. The room itself is clean with nice views but VERY TINY. Almost no room for two people and 2 bags (and we are not primas). Finally, the toilet runs constantly which may disturb light sleepers. So book with caution.

When planing our trip via the ring road in a rental car, saw we needed to stay in this area. Found this place on line. Received an email a week or 2 out with the door combination and our room combination. Front door worked, the room code on the box worked and inside was our key. Great view in the back. Tiny room, tiny bathroom with toilet, sink and shower but hey, this IS Iceland. Did not interact with any staff which was just fine with us. Went out to the lobby when i wanted wi fi to quick check emails...it worked fine...

Edinborg guesthouse = an annex of another self check-in hotel (hotel Lambafell) ; breakfast there (better have a car) ; tiny "hot tub" (not a "pool"...) also located in hotel Lambafell. Nothing for the Edinborg guesthouse contrary to what is written. Little billard table (located upstairs, rooms downstairs... so you can't play after 10 pm because of the noise...) Tiny twin room : no place to put our clothes except in our own luggages. Ok the landscape is beautiful, but the room is not worth the price. And don't take your breakfast there : worst buffet I have ever had in Island (the second day there wasn't even butter for the toasts !!!).

After 9 days of good experiences in Iceland, we were quite unhappy to find our first bad experience. First, the initial door experience is tricky - accessible only w an emailed password that hopefully you have handy. As we heard a number of knocks through the night, this strategy seems to not work that well. After getting inside, we found a clean and tiny room w a tiny bathroom. The door was cracked, but still mostly worked. Tried to use the Wi Fi, but it requires authentication, for which the full information was not available (I checked everywhere in the "welcome" area and on the modem itself thoroughly). So no Wi Fi. The toilet was running non-stop quite loudly. So for that and the Wi Fi (I can't sleep w that sort of constant noise), we tried to call the posted number. But the phone inside didn't work (this was starting to feel like someone was playing a joke on us). So we called international w my phone. The lady that answered was both rude and unhelpful - sounding irritated that we called. I was unable to sleep due to the combination of loud running toilet and ppl intermittently knocking on the door overnight. Overall, this was a terrible experience - the only one in Iceland. And the person that answered the phone was easily the only non-nice and helpful person we encountered in the entire country. And to add insult to injury, it's cost was ridiculous considering the minimal set-up. I would avoid it.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot water, beautiful view....make sure you check your email for the pass code or you can't get in. Also, it is signed with Hotel Edinborg not guesthouse. We didn't eat the breakfast but it was a buffet in the log cabin close by..this was our first guesthouse and was very nice

True to the pictures, the rooms are clean and modern and the upstairs game room is comfortable and nice too. The service was great, breakfast was good, and the surrounding views are spectacular. It's definitely not cheap in the height of summer tourist season, but it's one of very few places around and convenient to all of the locations we wanted to visit on the south coast. Be sure to make the short trek out to the old swimming pool behind the hotel. It's worth a visit even if you're too afraid to get in the green water (go for it, get in!).

There were 7 in our group, We stayed 3 nights, Our rooms were ready when we arrived (mid afternoon) The rooms are cozy, beds are comfortable. Can't say enough about the manager of the hotel, he was exceptional. Thank you for everything Domanick. The hotel is centrally located on the South shore near, Skogarfoss, Þjórsárdalur and Dyrholaey about 30min from Vik and ferry to Westman Islands. Continental Breakfast was good, assorted sliced breads, cereals, juices, sliced ham, salami, and cheeses, AND BUTTER BUTTER BUTTER, I love the Iceland BUTTER. Hot drinks are available 24/7 from the coffee machine. The big room upstairs has a big screen TV and cable, nice couch, pool table, darts, and chess. There is a hot pool about 3/4mi up the road behind the hotel. Just drive up the road until you can't drive any more then follow the walking trail beside the river into the mountains, takes about 15 mins. There are changing rooms there but the floor is wet/muddy. If you go there ask Dominick for towels. Don't use the bath towels. There is a good restaurant up the road Rt.1, Gamla fjosid / Old Cowhouse, We had 2 very nice meals there, learned to drink Opel, All in all we had a great stay.

This building in the picture is the entire guesthouse! The room is clean, small. The bathroom is small! The place is in the middle of nowhere. But, it was a clean roof over our heads, an ample breakfast in the morning, and off we went.

we stayed in edinborg for two nights. the hostel located in quiet surrounding area, 20 mins car ride from Vik, but very closed to waterfall and Eyjafjallajokull. the host is a very kind man, he prepared everything for the guests, so the environment was clean and tidy with basic necessicities, he provided the towels again without question (we had lots of stuffs and stored it inside the drawer). We could enjoyed the simple breakfast upstairs because of that's a wooden hut, so there's a bit problem, we could hear the foot steps upstairs or if a bad neighbor next to you but we 'll come back again if paid visit to Iceland
