Rough start to a smooth stay.

Except for check-in, when the reception clerk was unable at first to find our reservation, our stay was fine. Another clerk quickly stepped in, discovered the error, and took care of us very well. After that, all went smoothly.

Quiet and convenient.

Nice property close to town but in a quiet area. Check in lady was poor but other staff average. Good wine store off the lobby. Breakfast was decent. They have a peacock that comes around outside!!

The property is a wonderful resort, a short drive to the unique town of Evora. Enjoyed using as my base and using the pool and facilities My only complaint was that the first room we were assigned smelled like s!&t and the staff believed that a spray of heavy deodorant would solve the problem. Staff could use a little retraining.

The outdoor pool area was nice. We also liked our deck overlooking the pool area, though we had to ask for a second chair so we could both sit out there. Staff were great. Food was very good, though a bit repetitive for those staying more than a few days.

Big hotel, convenient access, popular with tours

We enjoyed 2 nights at the Evora Hotel, chosen for budget, parking, and easy 75 minute drive to the airport. The lobby is spacious with reception, gift shop and wine shop. Our room and bathroom were of a good size, with comfy chair, closet and fridge, and balcony with pleasant view of the grounds. Linens and pillows were fine, though the mattress could use more padding. Hair dryer was strong, unlike many, though bathroom lighting doesn't work for applying makeup. Small TV brings in some English channels. Extensive grounds include large pools and tennis court. Free breakfast offered many breads, fruits, cheese and cold meats, as well as hot choices including eggs, bacon/sausage, grilled tomatoes, etc. We opted for the dinner buffet, which was extensive--first time I've enjoyed pork cheeks. The hotel is a bit out of town, so buffet was convenient. The hotel is large and very popular with tour groups. (photo--bed started out neatly made!)
