Having finally found the place, I was unimpressed with the entrance, with weeds virtually surrounding the front door (see photo). The man on duty was pleasant, but that and the parking was where any good things ended. Once in my room, which smelled stale and like I imagine a brothel would smell like, I was disgusted in particular with the pillows, which were of terrible quality and had no covers to them. One was even stained brown with god knows what on it (see photo). I slept fully clothed with the window wide open and with 2 clean(!) bathroom towels over the cleaner pillow. I left as soon as I woke. I won't be returning and you shouldn't go either.
The place is a disgrace. The smell on entering the hotel was overpowering of damp. Bedding was drying over bannisters Offered four rooms before we found one with curtains up. Room we had was awful. Dangerous electrics, dirty shower, cracked sink, marks on walls, floor, ceiling and curtains. Door handle fell off. We were refused a refund if we moved to another hotel. Male receptionist was aggressive and rude. Grass two feet high in grounds. Wrote to manager twice with no reply. Wrote to CEO no reply.
Chose this hotel as a stopover convenient for Dieppe the next day. The outside looked derelict, and the grass had not been cut for months. Lots of cans and bottles dropped in the grass. The entrance says the car park is secure and guarded 24 hours, but the notice in the room says different. Room was very tatty, and small, although the sheets were clean. Breakfast OK. Not a good stopover experience
The title says it all. If you pay for the cheapest, this is what you get. The positives are that the linen and en-suite are clean and kept clean. However as other reviews have stated the standards of other things are basic - some lights not working, toilet lid broken. This seems to be a hotel that folk arrive at late at night as a stop over. It is next to the N12 so during a warm/hot night you can't have the window open as you get the traffic noise. There are places to eat very nearby and a Cora supermarket that do breakfasts for 3.5 euros. It also has a garage for petrol (reasonably cheap.
When you pay the price we paid expectations were low but as we got the last hotel room in town available arriving late there was zero choice. The reality was pleasantly surprising, the room and beds were perfectly acceptable at this rate, and we slept great after an excellent burger at "Flashback" in town. If you are going to pay for chips then moan it wasn't fois gras then don't be such a cheapskate and go pay triple for Ibis... (where I'm sure you will still find something to moan about)
Yes it looked a bit tired. The welcome was fine. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable. We paid under £30 for 2 for one night. Plus we were given vouchers for a local restaurant which saved us £13. Not to bad.
We stayed in 12 budget hotels in France this year, traveling around the country, and this was by far the worst! It may once have seen better days, but these were long gone. The place is about 50 years overdue for redecoration. The carpets everywhere were threadbare, paint spattered (so there must have been some decoration done sometime), and dangerously rucked up. The hotel was almost empty, so you would presume we were put in one of the better maintained rooms. The TV worked, but the bracket was broken, so it had been put on a table in the corner making it difficult to get past the bed in the small room. There was hot water, but the shower door would only shut if it was lifted and banged into place. Trying to say something positive, the breakfast room was reasonably smart, and it was quite a good breakfast. Mind you, it needed to be. At 7 euros each, it was the most expensive breakfast we had all holiday. (It did seem on our holiday in general, that the cheaper the hotel, the more expensive the breakfast - obviously how they make their money). The tarmac surface at the entrance to the hotel was also in a terrible state and the guy in charge was not overly friendly, even though I spoke to him in French. He obviously didn't speak any English. If you still decide to stay here after all the warnings, you can at least have a decent meal at the Courtpaille restaurant very nearby.
What a dump- just goes to prove that the camera can lie as it looked OK in the photos. The decor and furnishings were so worn- you could feel every spring in the mattress. The shower door wouldnt close so you showered the floor as well which probably explained the mouldy look in the bathroom- no sorry broom cupboard as it was so small! The only redeeming features of the stay were that the sheets and towels were very clean and although the room certainly had seen better days it was clean. It was these things that decided us to stay otherwise we would have left immediately we arrived.
