Entertainment--The lower-level family room is great for watching TV or playing games, with direct access to the back yard.
Doggies--Many of our clients return every year because their dogs love the fenced-in backyard. There is also a mowed hiking trail to the Ponds at Four Fields, and other trails are in development. The trail to the Ponds is about a two miles out and back. There is plenty of space and privacy for dogs to run and play.
Maintenance--Your host, Doug, was raised on a farm in Oregon, where he learned carpentry, truck, tractor, equipment, and irrigation repair. He built many sections of his own home and shop, builds furniture and cabinets in his woodshop, and helps friends repair their homes. This expertise has proven valuable so that the home at Four Fields Farm is in perfect working condition, with a focus on both preventative and regular maintenance.
Environment--Four Fields Farm is a fully certified Virginia Green Tourism Partner. This certification highlights our sustainable practices. We promote recycling, use of Safer Choice cleaning products, provide composting for kitchen waste, purchase Water Sense products, foster native plant species, and provide over 15 acres for wildlife habitat. This year, we plan to install solar panels and an electric vehicle charger.
Firepit and Outdoor Options--We provide seasoned oak firewood and six Adirondack chairs for relaxing around the firepit, with easy access from the main and lower level porches.
The Neighborhood--Scenic, peaceful, with amazing dark skies. Shenandoah National Park's border is acres away, offering great hikes to graceful waterfalls or challenging peaks, with plenty of bird and wildlife watching all around. Seek further adventures nearby: Skyline Drive, Monticello, Three Blacksmiths. Inn at Little Washington, Luray Caverns, adorable downtown Culpeper, the Sperryville Marketplace, and so much more!
Hiking and Exploring--If you want to hike, there is a variety of information in the bookcase in the foyer, including USGS topo maps, books, and every trail map published by the Shenandoah National Park in a three-ring binder. We also provide short descriptions on many of the local hiking trails, restaurants, wineries, and breweries.
Proprietor--Doug is a friendly, conscientious, and devoted host. He and his wife Kim purchased Four Fields Farm on St Patrick’s Day in 2020. He brings passion, hard work, and professionalism to this role. With Doug living a mile away and being able to focus on the business full-time, Four Fields Farm is managed professionally and maintained with pride. This is not a part-time or side gig, or a remote job, it is Doug’s full-time job. He is available to answer any questions or immediately address any issues.
After each guest departs and before the next guest, Doug conducts a careful inspection of the home to ensure it is perfect for the next guest.
Doug and his wife are respected and appreciated in the community. They go to extra lengths to support local businesses, including farm markets, restaurants, wineries, breweries, artists, and regularly sample the local food and drink scene. This allows Doug to provide up-to-date recommendations on local businesses.

The entire house was ready for guests, from the cleanliness to the fully equipped kitchen. All the light switches are clearly labelled, so no guess work there. The house information and check out instructions were clear, concise and well organized. I cannot say enough about the beautiful views and the peaceful surroundings. I saw the Flower Moon on 5/1, rising over the mountain, in the wee hours of the morning. It was spectacular and could be seen from the upstairs loft bedroom.

Doug was a great host, and readily available if needed. the house was fantastic and very spacious and comfortable in an envious setting of the Virginia mountains. Small towns nearby were charming, especially Washington, and the small country roads surrounding the property drove through beautiful landscapes of farms and rolling hills.

This property is excellent! It was the most well-equipped vacation rental I've stayed in - everything we needed (other than food) was there! The backyard was perfect for our two dogs and they loved watching the cows in a back pasture. Doug is an awesome host and was always very responsive to any questions we had. We will be back!

Gorgeous views - we spent a lot of time on the deck - very well maintained, with interesting books and law games and a great firepit for roasting marshmellows. You could hear coyotes howl at night and see fawns tip toeing across the dewy grass in the morning. Great base to explore Luray Caverns and other hikes, but it was so pleasant we spent plenty of time drinking tea or a beer and just watching the sky change. Doug was very responsive and when there was a very brief power outage he was there immediately with lanterns - but the lights came on as he arrived. Highly recommend this house!

We had an excellent stay! The house and yard were perfect for six adults, an infant, and two dogs. The house was equipped with all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay. We took advantage of the charcoal grill and well equipped kitchen for cooking. The location was perfect and the views from the house were idyllic. The large fully fenced yard was great for our two dogs, as well as the upper deck that had a gate to keep dogs or kids on the deck. Less than 15 minutes to Sperryville, which had so many cute things! Highly recommend this property, host, and location and would definitely return!

The valley
The home was exactly as it is on the video. Very clean very well kept very well stocked. It had everything you need for cooking grilling, etc. the views were beautiful and what a great neighborhood. Great to walk your dog or just go hiking. We really enjoyed our stay And would definitely recommend how it is completely roomy and plenty of places to hang out. Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time we were there so we never really got to enjoy the fire pit, but all in all it was a great stay.

Must stay VRBO!
We spent the last week at Four Fields Farm. To say it was a beautiful location is an understatement! I can only imagine when the scenario is in full bloom how amazing it is. To add to that, the home is great, spacious, comfortable has everything you could possibly need and the hosts are the best! We worked while we stayed with 2 pets. Even had a small baby shower (with permission) that was a huge hit with the location and the house. I couldn’t recommend this place and the hosts enough! This is a must stay location! Adding photos to our google review if you want to see more!

Beautiful location
The home was as advertised and very clean, especially for a pet-friendly house. It is set in a beautiful valley with gorgeous views of the mountains in the daytime and loads of stars at night. We found it comfortable and well-appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed to do Thanksgiving dinner, and we enjoyed having everything we needed to enjoy the fire pit and outdoor space, especially the fenced in yard, which was a bonus for our dog. The owner was very responsive, and we would stay here again.

We can't say enough about this beautiful property. We planned our trip so we could spend some time together as a family before dropping our daughter off to JMU. The house is beautiful, the views are spectacular. It's a very peaceful location, but also close to many breweries and wineries. We enjoyed the fenced in back yard for our dog, Neo. He was in heaven too. Doug, the proprietor, was wonderful & accessible. We can't wait to come back!!

Mountain getaway
This house was a perfect retreat for my family. Enough room that everyone, including the pets, had their own space. Every morning I would get up and drink my coffee on the porch looking at the mountains and listening to the cows moo. It was an easy drive to the park and Luray. Fire pit in the back allowed us to engage in the nostalgia of S’mores. Host is responsive and the house is well appointed. Highly recommend. We’ll be back for sure (maybe when we finally climb Old Rag.)
