Charming hotel on a residential street in Draveil, close to the Juvisy RER station. The owner and staff were wonderful to us, and willing to do whatever they could to help a couple of lost Americans find a good time in Paris. The only reason I deduct is because many people on holiday want night life...there is little of that here. If you want to feel what it is like to be a suburbanite Parisien, you will be happy here. Cheap local eats are had on the 10 minute walk to the train station, park nearby, marina on the Seine, and much more if you're more adventurous than the average American tourist. Rooms are typical utilitarian Euro style... small beds, small desk, small bathroom. Very clean. As it was our first trip to Paris we thought of it as a blessing...because the rooms are not meant to lounge in, we got out and about and made the most of our week there. English speaking staff in a non-english speaking area (which we felt keeps prices in local shops lower), and they were happy to get out a map and direct us to some of their favorite spots as we wandered every day. Pro-tip 1, learn some basic french phrases if you stay in Draveil...otherwise in many local shops it's hand signs and guesswork. Of course you could use google, but where's the culture and adventure in that? Pro-tip 2, unless you arrive on a Thursday buy the all zones (this hotel is in zone 4) one week Navigo pass for transport, and if necessary refill it on Sunday. We never landed more than one block from any major attraction by utilizing RER, Metro, and Bus directly from our neighborhood.
I wanted to find a place to stay the night before my early flight at Orly Airport. This was an ideal. The price was very good. The basic room was just fine and clean. It is a short 10 minute walk from the train station. And a three minute walk to the shuttle/bus that takes you directly to Orly. The staff at the hotel was very helpful. In fact the staff at the hotel helped when I ran into a bit of a difficult situation.
We asked for a different room after being given a room that smelt as if the entire city of Deaveil had been smoking in there. This they did promptly. Basic room with basic amenities. Only used this hotel as it was close to the airport for an early morning flight.
I stayed here on a school trip over the March Break, and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room my classmates and I were given were absolutely disgusting. It smelled like someone had been smoking in there for 40 years, and the bathroom SMELLED LIKE A TRAILER PARK. The only thing the manager did was spray some nauseating air freshener... As well, the rooms were not well equipped for cots either, so it was almost impossible to move around the room. Worse yet, the bathroom had not been cleaned: there were HAIRS IN THE DRAIN AND ON THE DOOR and the empty toiletpaper roll was still on its hanger. If that wasn't enough, there was MOLD EVERYWHERE. The whole hotel was dingy, and other classmates found empty vodka bottles, pill bottles and stains on their sheets. Stay away for the sake of your own health and safety.
We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Comfort Orly Draveil in June, 2012, as part of an EF Tour group. Truthfully, this hotel really isn't suited toward large groups. Our bus couldn't get down the street well, and actually hit a garbage truck leaving the hotel because the street is so narrow. The breakfast area is way too small, so we ended up eating breakfast in the basement. They did serve us chocolate croissants which were very good. We woke up to the smell of baking bread, which is always nice. The hotel was reasonably clean, and the manager did his best to accommodate us. The bathroom was nice and clean. We all appreciated the fact that there was ice cold bottled water for sale at the front desk, since temperatures were in the 90s those days. There didn't appear to be any air conditioning, but it did cool down at night. Free WIFI was available, but service was spotty. Our room was on the far end of the hall, and the WIFI only worked if we stepped out into the hall. It was a pretty long distance from Paris, which was disappointing since our time was already so limited.
A 15 kms. d'Orly.
