Stayed one night. This hotel is OK for a short stay. The bed was comfy and room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was also good choice and good quality. Don't remember the price but seemed good value for money. My only problem was that the air con and the room itself seemed to have a lot of moisture in the room (you could sort of feel it on the bedding). Also air con rather dated.
Location ok, close to the highway. Check-in - Done in two minutes – All services like front desk and restaurant are very good! Rooms - Purposefully furnished and utterly clean. Bed / sleeping quality – Excellent. Breakfast – Varity and quality 4-star level. Executive Club Lounge - Not available – A No Go – In general, if this is the case the BONVOI Elite guest gets the Mini Bar for free - Not you! You charge the loyal guest 5.00 EUR for a bottle of water which in general in all Marriott hotels are complementary. I would suggest all loyal Marriott BONVOY members to avoid this place. P.S. During check-out I mentioned above and the young lady at the front desk were carefully listening to me – a very fair play from her! See show understanding and I didn’t have to pay the parking fees. Stayed for 3 weeks on business trip. Hotel is located next to the football stadium. 7th floor room has good view of the stadium. Gymnasium is not big. Parking facility is good. Courteous staff. Breakfast is fantastic with wide range of options. Rooms are spacious and WiFi (decent speed) is free for members which you can signup for free. Park and city center is walk-able distance, you can rent a cycle as well which is near to the hotel. Haven't tried the spa, will do on the next travel. Food (Room Service) is decent, not great.
came at least 6 times for business with a local company. Excellent hotel, great breakfast. Didn’t try the spa area but nicely located near a park for jogging. Nice staff and great value for money. I don’t really like the statue on roller skates in the entrance, just a little “mauvais gout”
Nice Hotel, easy location, comfortable in general. However, not to 4 star level: no in-room coffee/tea-making facilities (which are kind of standard in international hotel chains), paint/mold defects in the bathroom amongst other issues. Also in the morning, if you dont want the full breakfast, it is difficult to get even a coffee in the hotel as the bar is closed: you have to specifically ask to a waiter who will then provide it to you in the lobby (since there are no coffee making facilities in the room, you should have easy access to them at least in the bar or lobby). Staff is ok in general but nothing fantastic, let us say they wont go the extra mile for you, even as a platinum member.
Renaissance Bochum Short taxi ride (or long walk) from the main train station and downtown Bochum. Hotel lobby area was very clean and inviting. Hotel is located in a quiet location. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. Platinum status was not recognized, but the staff was very pleasant and apologetic when I inquired about receiving the elite benefits (points, late checkout, etc.) Room was average size, clean and in good condition. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Room would benefit from updating / remodel. As a previous reviewer notes (WasteAccountant) there was a coffee pot, tea and coffee but no water supply. It was disappointing that they don’t provide any free bottles of water (and it’s very expensive). I stayed at 5 different Marriott properties on this trip and this was the only hotel that did not provide water (the Dusseldorf Sheraton provided multiple bottles). Renaissance Bochum needs to change this policy and evolve with other Marriott properties. It was also disappointing that this hotel doesn’t have a Concierge lounge for Marriott Elites. This alone would cause me to reconsider staying at this property (and unlike Renaissance Hamburg the Renaissance Bochum has plenty of room to accommodate an elite lounge) The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The food (we had dinner) was very good quality. The breakfast buffet was good too. We used room service once. The service was prompt and good food. The bar area is spacious, and the bar customers were respectful, not too loud or unruly. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere. 3 1/2 stars with 4 star potential. I would stay at this property again (especially if they update the rooms a bit) but if there was a comparable property with free water and a concierge lounge, then that I would likely stay there instead.
So 1.5 Bathrooms well its a toilet and sink in the entrance (living room) great, but then in the bathroom the toilet is missing, to two sinks and a bath with a weak shower attachment. So from a bathroom point of view this is a miss! The room(s) were clean and the air conditioning was working which is a plus for the short weekend stay we could not complain. But there are some faults TV selection seemed lacking - no BBC or UK English channel (Russian Propaganda channel - who selected this rubbish). Mini-Bar chargeable (OK) but so was the water - It has been a long time since I have been in a Hotel where they did not supply water as part of the room rate. Coffee - just a kettle, not coffee machine. Location - it is next to the A40 although out of the City Center its is next door to the Football Stadium (VFL Bochum) and also next to the home of Starlight Express. Directions from the A40 using Statnav - seemed to get confused leave the motorway continue straight on (over the traffic lights) turn left at the roundabout. Hotel entrance is second on the left (first being the Hotel exit).
Check in was very unfriendly. No recognition of elite benefits. We parked our car in front of the building in a Lott which is small. Turns out there is a large parking garage but nobody mentioned that. The room Is old. Worse thing it smells very bad inside the room and in such a way that everything (clothing) smells after a night in the room. Air-conditioning did not work so hardly any sleep due to very high room temperature. Also got a headache from the smell. The outlets on top of the desk just fall of the wall. There is no coffee machine in the room, there are however powder coffee sticks. Whow really fake coffee. The water cost you 5 euro. And this is an executive room ??? The breakfast in the morning was also not really good. At first glance you think whow a lot to choice from but it turns out the food quality is very low. We had to go for a real breakfast after we left. Check out was also a very strange experience. I felt very unwelcome. I stay a lot of nights in Marriott property’s which also includes renaissance hotels. This is one of the worst ones I experienced. You should think they would value my loyalty.. well not at this place.
Excellent hotel The reception and lobby are good, the rooms are fairly small, the hotel is about 6 km from the city center, the place is very quiet except on Saturdays and Sundays the bar and lobby are full of people. The standard of the hotel is luxurious and the visitors are very attentive. The view from the room was bad (attached)
I have had a couple of visits to this hotel and to Bochum. I have also tried one other hotel before but I was not happy at the other try so I keep staying at Renaissance Bochum Hotel. The staff is friendly and restaurant is also okay. Breakfast is very nice :-) I can highly recommend. Parking is also very convenient. The rooms are okay - one might expect more - sometimes the rooms need more cleaning but if you tell them they will re-clean. But that is a common issue in many hotels because they outsource the housekeeping... I dont like hotels which outsource housekeeping to cheap companies. Anyway: Overall this hotel deserves 5 stars and I can highly recommend!
