The hotel building is beautiful! Staff are very friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy their job (without asking for a tip which was unusual for our experience in Morocco). Rooms are fine - comfortable bed, good bathroom, and quiet. Pool area is lovely - perfect for relaxing. Not sure why people are not rating this place higher.
Our experience was just fair. Service not good, food was okay, the room was smalland, with an old furniture and dirty... this hotel should be a 2 stars hotel and not 4*. I don't recommend this hotel at all.
We got a great deal on this four star via lastminute.com, so this has bearing on our value for money assessment. If we had paid full whack I think I would have expected a bit more. However the design and layout is a harmonious marriage of modern concrete with traditional Islamic principles. The room service was excellent and the birds flitting about the magnificent breakfast hall were an eccentric delight. Everthing in the en suite worked including shower and bath, and the electric fire was cosy on some chilly nights. We asked for extra pillows. No trouble at all. Some minor niggles...It was a shame the pool wasn't slightly heated. I managed it once and i'm sure that's not a problem in summer. The only thing I would criticise is the reception: it seemed things like bottled water, money change and an umbrella were too much trouble. Not that they didn't try to help, but whatever you asked for seemed to have to involve 2 or 3 others and didn't always have a satisfactory outcome. Breakfast was very basic, but what was there was good quality (think continental). These are all minor niggles really and we could not fault the value for money we got paying around £200 for a week's double. Didn't try the sauna or spa & fitness facilities but we did inspect and they looked fine. We also enjoyed the lovely walk along the beach each day to reach the old city as 5 his hotel is a couple of clicks south of the medina. There is a very handy carrefour nearby too - we didn't eat here in the evening. One word of advice to th hotel: find some less mind-numbing musk!
We were very pleased with the hotel our room and and the service provided by the staff whilst on a last minute break to Morocco. It's the second time we have been to Essaouira and this was by far the better Hotel we have used. The room was cleaned every day, with new towels and the beds freshly made. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. We had intended to go out more for meals but to be honest didn't need feel the need to. The hotel is a fairly long walk from the Medina but taxis are inexpensive if needed. We were here to kitesurf so the hotel is ideally located at the best end of the bay. We had WIFI in our room (not sure if this is all rooms) as well as in the main reception and dining areas.
I stayed in this hotel with a group of 15 persons. Receptionist was welcoming, everything ready and check in was quick and smooth. Our rooms were clean, well prepared, and even they aren't very spacious, they are reasonably equipped. Nice swimming pool was a bonus, wifi works only at reception and dinner was tasty, ready on time, with not wide range to choose but it was enough, same as breakfast which was very good. Only a small problem was with staff during dinner as they didn't offer any drinks, not even list of them and you had to specifically ask for it, no alcohol at all. By short walk you can reach the beach and ocean, and about 30-45 minutes by walk port and medina of Essaouira. General experience was very good, even the hotel was presented as 3 stars.
Oh, Essaouira...if only I'd come here sooner. Alas, I'd spent the previous 7-8 days trekking all over Morocco, and ended up in Essaouria after two nights in Marrakesh. Don't get me wrong - the rest of Morocco is amazing, and it was a proper adventure in all the right ways, but...the ocean. That ocean, that beach. This hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk east of the Pacific Ocean, and a great little boardwalk/restaurant area, which is probably a 35-45 minute brisk walk just south of the town center of Essaouira. The hotel itself has a really large pool in the center of its courtyard, and, to my surprise, fairly underused for this part of the world. It's hot out, and if you're feeling at all lazy, all you'd have to do is leave your room and vegetate around the pool. But, I wanted to see the ocean (after spending days and nights in the mountains and Sahara Desert), and so I made the easy walk over to the boardwalk and spent all day on the beach. Glorious. Back at the hotel, the room was average. My only complaint was that there were quite a few insects sharing the room with me, but once I'd taken care of them (the ones I could see) then it was fine. Room could have used a good cleaning, but the location, for me, made up for all that. I will say this - I would easily stay here again if back in Essaouira - and, to be honest, I plan on returning as soon as I can.
We had stayed here 12 months earlier and were very happy to return. We'd booked online and on arrival we were expected and warmly welcomed. This hotel is clean, pool is fine and the breakfast adequate. The major drawback is that it is 25 minutes walk from the medina and port. We don't mind the walk along the sea front, but if this is a problem taxis are easily available and inexpensive.
I stayed at Ryad Mogador with a group of 34 now in May 2015, knew it from last year. Because of the reviews here, some couple in the group arrived with a negative idea of the hotel. Honestly, the Ryad Mogador do not deserve at all these negative reviews: we had a problem with one person over-allergic to moisture and the staff (all of them) ran around to find a solution, even offering the presidential suite - but the problem was not bound to the hotel but with the city... The rooms are not large but very cosy, the moisture and mould smell disappears as soon as the window stays open (I found it in other hotels I visited in Essaouira). It is obvious that no recent investments have been done, especially in the bathrooms - but the new direction promises good, and that very quickly. The whole group left after 2 nights stay very satisfied and I very honestly recommend it to anyone - even though it is not that cose to the medina (2 kms).
Went there on a business tryp. Our arrival was not expected even having not only confirmed but our rooms paid. Aggressive staff. Filthy rooms.... Poor restaurant and no wifi in the rooms. This hotel is located outside of town so be ready for a long walk in case you want to visit the city. Better options downtown for sure
hotel average in everything but it is near the sea...food specially in breakfast (open buffet ) is not very satisfactory for some people who like big quantities and variety but it was okay with me and my wife ...
