Upon arrival we were informed that our rooms weren't ready, (At 8pm at night!), After a short wait we were shown to our rooms, but we found out that the rooms which we had requested as adjoining, were in fact about 5 rooms away, after another visit to reception, we were given rooms next to each other, but not adjoining. 1 of which had no air conditioning! It was far to hot not to have air con at night. Although we were assured Maintenance would be sent up, no one arrived, so our first night was very unsettled and incredibly hot! However on Day 2 we were eventually given adjoining and upgraded rooms. But no apology was offered and the receptionist was less than approachable, didn't really want to know and actually walked away in the middle of when I was speaking to her! We had to wait around most of the day (Until 2pm) to get the new room, so did feel like a bit of a waste of our day! Once we got the new rooms, the adjoining doors were locked and took 3 separate requests before it got unlocked throughout the day. After this the holiday actually began. We had half board, reception gave us barely any information about the food options, and we had to ask other staff. The food in the main restaurant was great and the staff went more than out of their way to help arrange a special meal for me on most nights as I am vegetarian. Must have had a different training from the reception staff!!! Breakfast was also good, lots of options and fresh omelettes cooked to order. For every experience throughout the week of dealing with reception, it was painful, with one exception, as they did manage to book us a Hamman and massage. But possibly because we stood and waited. We asked them to book a table for us one night and a taxi for the return to the airport, but both of these failed to happen. Lastly we asked to extend 1 of the rooms on our last day which they agreed to until 3pm, only when we checked out of the first room, we were told we could only have the extension until 2. Contradicting again, with no apology and almost aggressive responses from the male receptionist. Very rude!! It took 45 minutes to get a taxi to the airport home after 3 more visits to reception and hassling them. The hotel itself is clean and tidy. But I would never class this as 5 star!!! The doors to the rooms were sometimes difficult to shut and our bathroom door was so loud we were unable to close it at night time!! Pool bar and pool staff very nice and friendly. Bar staff also very nice and helpful. However the same live music was in the bar every night who sang the same songs every night!!! Whilst they were good, they need some more variety! Lastly don't fall for the offer of free transfers on the hotel website, because according to reception they do not offer this and that website isn't theirs!!
When we arrived the staff couldn't find our booking, hastily arranged our room claimed to upgrade us to the room we already booked Facilities are lacking, no bathroom towels on arrival, no bathrobe, no tea making facilities and no water for a 5 star hotel. When we booked we made it clear that we have a 3 year old child and will require a crib, when we arrived no crib was available so went for a walk and went to eat. We came back am still no crib we rang again and it finally arrived at 10pm well past my sons bed time To make matters worse they gave us a room above a bar where music was being played rang the front desk who were useless Hotel is dated, see signs of no or little maintenance No a very good way to start the holiday
We were part of a tour group. The hotel room was pleasant and the food was very good. The wi-fi was good in lobby but weak in the rooms. The restaurant (Le Seven Restaurant) for supper is located across the street on the beach. The interior is very nice and the food was quite good. The breakfast was in the hotel and the selection was good. The hotel has a private stretch of the beach for hotel guests only. I would recommend this hotel.
What they rate as a 5 star in Morocco is a 3 star in U.S. The rooms were nice size but the cleaning wasn't up to par (I've noticed this throughout my journey through Morocco). Right across the street from the beach. The hotel restaurant, on the beach, word was not good, cold burger and fries. WIFI work well. 1 night stay as part of a tour group hotel selection. I would not stay again.
We found a good deal for a room here, and for what we received for our money it was a good place to be. Yes it does lack the charm and character of the Riads (but we got that in Marrakesh) - but the rooms were big, light and in good nick. Daily service was good, and the staff were always helpful, friendly and warm (not sure what other reviewers did or said to find grumpy staff? but we found them great!) The breakfast was ample - especially the pastries and fruit. Avoided the pre-cooked dishes as a little tough or cool. The pool area was a real plus - especially on the windy days, and the beach location was ideal. Staying here you get a more Mediterranean holiday experience and less of a Moroccan/African experience but for us during our 5 days relaxing that was great (before hitting the craziness of Marrakesh) Look for the deals - we paid £30 each and for that money it was ideal - to pay the full cost would leave you feeling a little cheated. A few could do betters: - A simple (free) mint tea on arrival for weary travellers - A free bottle or water waiting in the room Both these would cost little and increase the feel good factor of this hotel.
Recent reviews of this hotel have been fair and I was aware of these when I booked, but in hindsight I wish I had booked elsewhere. That said, the hotel, though not 5 star in European standards is a good 4 star hotel akin to your average Radison Blu or similar 'conference' hotel you would get in the uk. That is where it's problem lies, it is just a big hotel. Lots of wide open spaces, numerous lounge areas, big rooms ( had room 251 overlooking the pool ) but with a low occupancy there is just no soul to the place. I like to mix and mingle when on holiday and other than perhaps bumping into people at breakfast there was no great incentive to hang around. It's a place to eat breakfast and sleep and be out for the day. I was here with a friend on a 1 week kitesurfing trip. So the location is quite good for that as it's only a few minutes walk to the kite storage centre each morning and at about 60p for a taxi into the Old Medina, then for those not wishing to walk in or back for the 20 minute stroll, it hardly breaks the bank. Based on others experiences, the bathrooms obviously do need attention. Not drastically so, but a cracked bath tub meant water leaking on the floor after showers, tiles/grouting a little worn and not too perfectly done. But these are just minor niggles. Nothing to detract from the holiday overall. Wifi was decent enough, if ever it 'failed' we just rang reception and they rebooted the server. Certainly uploading photos to facebook or watching the news on iplayer was not an issue. The breakfast selection, although it was the same every day offered enough variety to keep us well fed for a day on the water or out mountain biking and again as others mentioned the 'hot' options could be hotter, they were at best luke warm and only a fresh cooked omelette 'on request' was actually hot. Aircon worked fine and was running whenever we wanted it, though we tended to sleep with the window open to allow a breeze through and just put aircon on to cool the room before turning it off to sleep as the buzzing can be irritating, but that's the same with most aircon units. For wheelchair users there are lifts, though these are not particularly large and a wheelchair user may struggle to have a carer in the lift with them unless they breathed in, but at least it means they are able to visit where a conventional Riad would be out of the question. We found the reception staff very helpful and friendly and always had a bit of banter with the guys behind the desk when we were changing currency. In summary, a nice hotel if you want clean and tidy and 'nothing authentic' but want to visit Essaouira but enjoy the comforts of home.
Reviewed it before booking and agree with some that in parts the Atlas showed signs of wear and tear. My room (247) was a good size with an 8ft wide bed however the shower shield was missing which made the floor very slippery and the towels could have been 'fluffier'. House keeping for the room was excellent. The pool was very cold and an expensive charge made for the heated indoor pool. Breakfast was surprisingly good with more than adequate selection of hot and cold choices. The private beach was very small and someway from the sea also frequently pestered by beach sellers entering the closed off area which was a nuisance. The evening reception staff (one in particular )was VERY rude and certainly require training in communicating skills. After complaining to Fatima who was exceptionally good at her job a complimentary bottle of wine was offered and gratefully accepted. A bit hit and miss as to whether they have cash to exchange but must admit the rate of exchange was better than the banks and exchange shops in town. Finally this hotel is not a 10 min walk from town as stated but more like 30 mins however for those who prefer the taxi is 8-10 mad (about 70-80 pence)Check your bill we were charged twice for mini-bar which we did not use. Great little restaurant half way to town called Mogador which is licenced, a rarity, and inexpensive. Total bill for two standard rooms for 7 nights incl breakfast £1100 quite reasonable.
We had stayed at Atlas 4 nights. Room was great. It was quite large and bright. Location is 20 mins to City Center by walk. Internet was ok, but don't expect a fast and reliable connection at all time. They need more staff who can speak English. And also, they need a guideline about otel facilities. Otherwise, you need to discover them. Mustapha (one of the bell boy) is really helpful and friendly. Please be aware of city tax on check-out. We had paid city tax 300 dirham for 4 nights for 2 people.
On the long way from Marakech to Cassablanca. A wonderfull place to rest. The modern hotel, is 2 minutes walking from the beach. Very testy restorant with othentic delicatatins. Sweeming pool and real Spa . An internal garden yard . Free parking.
Once you are inside the hotel, the reception area is so inviting with various rooms or partitions all decked with morrocan inspired design. The material used is flimsy and colorful and just very impressive. The room is also so impressive with lighting that go with the design. Breakfast is good too with a lot of choices. Wifi works in the room. You can have a morning walk with a breeze so soothing. The medina is also reachable on foot. Before sundown, the beach is filled with music, camels, horses etc. Wifi works in the beach too. Incredible location and hotel.
