We had such an amazing experience. The service is really good and the food is delicious ( not everything though). One of the problems is that there is not wifi in the rooms. Another is that the pool close at 20:00 which is early. Many things can be fixed but Decameron is such an amazing experience. You will be in love.
This is a trap for local and international tourists. Everything is included for 123 $ per night. However, the food is under average, the alcohol is the cheapest, you can get, and it "only" takes 70 minutes to check in. If you want to visit some other restaurants than the ones with bad buffets, you have to book 24 hours in advance. If you go there without booking, you will not be served! The only nice things about the place are some of the staff, the swimming pools and the beach. The rest is below average. And of course you are not allowed to use the swimming pools before 8 am or after 6 pm. It is the worst, I have experienced in Ecuador so far, and I have been here more than 4 months.
Upon arrival we were treated in such a horrible way, we had arrived to the hotel at 12:15 after departing from Quito and having to drive for 6+ hours to get to this resort to then be told that we can’t enter the property until 3pm despite there being nothing mentioning this in the booking or no communication from the hotel (and they did have access to contact me as the personally emailed me to confirm that the details were correct) now we knew that checkin might be at a later time but we just wanted to be given access to the resort, have a drink and chill after such a long drive in the heat. But no the security guy told us we had to wait outside the resort baring in mind you’re near nothing, not a restaurant or shops he said we had to stay outside. I wasn’t having it especially after how much we paid to be told to wait almost 2.5 hours to be able to relax and have a drink so I asked to speak to a manager he bluntly said no “he will say the same thing I have just told you” I was so angry at the lack of customer service from the man. And even after I spoke to the manager, the manager did nothing about our unsatisfying welcome and just ignored us until check in and told us we can only wait In the lobby until checkin at this point it was merely 1.5 hours until check in so I didn’t mind I was just glad that my grandmother could sit comfortably and stretch her legs and my parents could start to de stress and enjoy the start of what we assumed would be an amazing get away. But the horrible experience didn’t stop there after checkin they messed up our room preferences so after having to lug our luggage up stairs as there is no elevator, we then had to call reception to get rooms changed and I wouldn’t mind if they had been considerate that my grandmother couldn’t go up and down stairs so often and we had specifically asked for a ground floor room which they then told us we have no rooms available on the ground floor, so my poor grandmother at 81 years old had to keep going up and down stairs every day of that holiday, she ended in more pain than what she arrived in, definitely not relaxing for her at all. Furthermore, the only way you’ll enjoy this resort is if you like being in the military. It is so regimented and everything is scheduled like school, our second night we had made a reservation for the Italian restaurant on site with the waiter in the morning during breakfast we arrived for dinner 10 minutes early because we were ready and were starving, the security there then told us no you can’t come in until your scheduled time. Come back in 10 minutes, my blood was boiling. The restaurant was empty! There was no more than 5 tables in use in a restaurant that is more than capable of hosting 50+ tables. But we said ok went for a drink at the bar by the pool came back after 10 minutes then told us we don’t have a reservation so we can’t eat there. I had no words at this point I just grabbed some menus for my family and I and sat down at the table of our preference. And not to mention that when I went to get salad from the buffet there was a cockroach in the salad! Lucky for them I didn’t have my phone on me otherwise I would’ve taken a picture, I just told the waitress and unapologetically she looked at me and said oh ok thanks and picked up the plate and left, didn’t even offer an apology or anything of reassurance that the hygiene of this place was to a decent standard. Absolutely shocked! And this is not to even mention the constant harassment from the sales people constantly stopping you on your way to breakfast lunch dinner or to the pool or bar no matter what there’s one sales person at every corner trying to sell you a Decameron membership, despite us saying no several times they kept trying to push us to buy the membership and when we told them how we felt about the place they seemed uninterested on the genuine feedback we had to give. My dad in the end just had to tell them to go away because it’s was just absurd. We couldn’t relax the full 5 days we were there the staff were rude, only the entertainers were somewhat friendly but I guess only because they are paid to be. And one staff member called Jonathon, he was just amazing. Thanks to him we cheered up from the horrible first 3 days we had and started to enjoy the last 2 days he was so kind and genuine, we even had to call his manager to tell him how glad we were that he works there because he genuinely made us much happier. I am overall appalled at the lack of customer service that this resort has it does not deserve the rating it has. I bet the majority of these reviews are fake. We spent a lot of money and we were completely horrified that when telling our friends they also agreed and had a similar experience with the rudeness of staff as well as management!
I was looking for a good place to propose to my girldfriend. I remember that a long time ago I went to Decameron Mompiche and I was very impressed for the acommodations, the good service and of course a beautiful beach. I went to Mompiche a week ago with some friends to help me prepare the "moment". Also I met Willians Florencia who is representative of the place, he made the proposal easier for us and help us a lot with a beautiful red carpet and torches. The proposal was perfect. I am very grateful with Mompiche's staff and Willians. I highly recommend going to Decameron mompiche in Ecuador.
I mi opinion my favorite places is hotel od Decameron Mompiche for se eral attractions also surrounded by 6 types of mangeoves you can makes walks full of adventure by trails and waterfalls to have permanent contact wit nature, also the hotel has a modern tropical desing mixing with the natural environmet of the área also bedrooms are large with air conditioning, 3 speciality restaurants and 1 buffet, 6 bars, disco, 5 swimming pools a cinema for children, the place is simply beautiful.
Resort advertised English, Spanish, and French as available languages at the resort. None of the staff speak English. All services and activities are in Spanish. One person at the activities desk spoke some English. If she was there then you could ask questions and if she went on the tour she would provide English translation. Overall look of the facility it very nice. Beach in front of resort is always closed for swimming due to boat traffic. Have to take boat to small island across from resort to use the beach which the resort owns..Food was not very good all round at the resort.. Same food day after day at the one buffet. Only real good speciality restaurant was the Italian.Overall we did not get our money's worth at this resort. When traveling throughout Ecuador we would not expect English to be spoken. But an all inclusive resort advertising English as only of the available languages we would. We would have left but the resort is in the middle of nowhere. Two hours by bus from Esmeralda and 6 hours from Quito. Staff was nice and did try to help through our broken Spanish and online translation devices.
Low season on decameron is not really what you expect and I feel i didn't get my money worth vacations. However you must know that for me an All-Inclusive hotel is all about the food, and from my last visit I feel that the food quality has decreased. Also I hate waking up on 7 am on my holiday to get an space for dinner, any one can automate that or give it in a random order at check-in. One day we overslept 10 minutes and we walked the whole resort to just find out that we were not able to reserve our dinner. If it is my choice I would never be back.
I was just enjoying some games from the company trip at the other side of the complex when my shoulder pop off. I mean I have problems with my shoulder the life guard Justo took control of it I wish I can remember his name but he arrange everything with his phone or so he called a boat so they can get me trough the other side as fast as possible once there I had a car that took me aid in a minute once there Melissa from Venezuela knew what was happening and had everything ready in order to help my especific problem. Just fantastic thank you
No doubt Decameron Mompiche is an impressive resort with a well built infrastructure. Although it is several years old it seems to be well maintained. Hotel stuff is gentil when one approach them, not so proactive to get in touch to the guests to provide assistance though. We arrived at 4:30pm after a 7.5 hours traveling by car from Quito (several stops on the way), a bit tired we were expecting to have our rooms soon. Surprisingly the check-in area is not located at the front desk at the lobby, but rather I had to go down one level to meet many people waiting to be checked-in in a big room. It took us about 40 minutes to get the room keys. Something that can be improved, for sure. Food was good, not many options but with good taste in general. We stayed 2 nights and 3 days, weather was cloudy and beach was choppy. Not good conditions for expending long on the beach with children. Be aware about the fact of long distance from some rooms location to the main restaurant. Several staircases to go up and down! However, no way to have elevators due to the architecture and topography. They need to think on a better way to transport people from those far located rooms in an effective way. Entertainment wise was good enough, the people in charge of each activity was well prepared and animated the guests very well. Areas to improve: Hotel stuff must be more proactive to assist guests, don’t waiting to be asked for help if they see it is required. In general a nice place to spend a couple of days.
Deck setting with garden surroundings (indoor as well in case of inclement weather), warm personal attention of staff and management, varied and appealing German-style menu, excellent quality and flavors of dishes and imaginative smoothies and, affordable prices
