Coosawattee River Resort, a 5,500 acres development, is situated a few miles from East Ellijay and Ellijay in the Georgia Mountains Region. The resort is home to Carters Lake, an engineered recreational marvel. You can fish the river for trout or try your luck at the stocked fishing pond. Eagles, deer, hawks, foxes and turkeys make their home among the lush 8,500-acre forest.

Perfect for families and dogs

This was the perfect place for our family and fur baby! Most places will only allow dogs under 20 pounds, so this was perfect for our Max. The kids LOVED playing with him in the big fenced yard and counting all the deer we saw. We saw 124 in one day! My favorite part was the glorious shower! It was perfect after being outside in the cold. I will definitely stay here again.

Perfect Dog Friendly Cabin

This cabin was perfect for mf family. Single level with a fenced in back yard was perfect for my 2 year old son and our mini goldendoodle. We look forward to staying here again!

Peaceful getaway

The property is beautiful, set on a mountain. Peaceful . There was an abundance of deer , deer food provided by the home owner 😊 We brought our 3 dogs with us , the fenced in yard was perfect. Puzzle toys ,balls stuffed animals , treats , you need it for your pup it’s available. We forgot our dog food bowls, they had some. Not many places will accept 3 large dogs . We appreciate this very much!

Perfect getaway for family and the dogs!

I'm not sure who enjoyed this house more, the humans or the dogs! I think our favorite part was feeding all the deer and watching them come so close to the porch. The large fenced in yard was wonderful for the dogs and the house was so comfortable for all of us. I do wish that they provided more kitchen towels, or at the very least, an oven mitt, but that was easy to work around and did not make our stay any less enjoyable! This was our first trip to Ellijay and we will definitely be back!

Best summer family trip with our best friend.

We used to travel all over until we got Cash (our now 2.5 y/o chocolate lab). We love him so much but didn’t really know how to travel with a dog. Would the cabin be dog friendly, and if so would it be clean? Well, we scored on this trip and the answer was yes and yes! The cabin is set up so perfectly to accommodate dogs that it was like being at home with him. Again, super clean to the point of feeling almost guilty to allow him to relax on the floor by the couch as we wound down for the day. In our short 4 day stay, we were able to hike and visit so many amazing spots from Ellijay to Helen. Definitely will be coming back.

Very Dog and Family Friendly

We had a great stay at shepherds lounge. The house was the perfect size for our family and we had peace of mind while traveling with our dogs with their fully fenced backyard. The cabin was stocked with basic food supplies and dog crates which made packing a lot easier. We also enjoyed the various resort amenities and all the surrounding areas within Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

Anniversary Get a way

My husband and I were celebrating our 26th anniversary and wanted to get a few days way from the hustle and bustle of our home. We found our cabin on VRBO and were very excited about pets being allowed. The fenced in yard was a great addition to the cabin. Everything was far better than we expected and the booking agent was very nice and made sure that we had what we needed and everything was ready upon arrival. She touched base with us several times during our visit to see if we needed anything. We will definitely be back.

Blissful place to "paws" and relax.

I can't say enough about this dog friendly cabin. Perfect for anyone who travels and explores with their dog kids. The cabin is fully stocked with pet needs from toys to blankets to poop bags to first aid kit. Bring your own food and leash of course. The fenced in yard is such a blessing. Beautiful location to hike, watch and feed the deer. This place is so cozy and welcoming. The dogs and I will be back and thank the hosts wholeheartedly.

Elijay is a great area to visit. We were lucky enough to be there for the apple festival. The wineries are great and allow pups to come with you! The cabin was great and it is wonderful that it is so pet friendly and accommodating to your fur babies.

Cabin and grounds are great. Roads and properties maintained well. Cabin was beautiful Angela was terrific. If you are going for real seclusion maybe this is not tthe place. Neighbors right near by though not visible can be heard easily. Other than that great place. Alot to do in area also.

Andrea has gone above & beyond to make this cabin a clean pet friendly place to enjoy. Even so far as having deer feed to feed the deer whom roam the back yard. I extended my stay another day because I just wasn't ready to leave the peacefulness I found here & the transaction went smoothly. Saying "I highly recommend this place" does not do it justice. I will book with Andrea again & again because she's not only the best host but she put forth the effort to make sure All your needs are met.

For people who LOVE their dogs

This cabin does not just tolerate dogs. It welcomes dogs like family. It has everything you need not only to get yourself off to a great vacation but also get your dogs in the groove for a great vacation. The dogs loved the fenced in back yard. The cabin is stocked with many thoughtful touches including some starter kitchen supplies, toiletries and many dog friendly items. They provide towels and blankets for dogs to snuggle up. There are even crates available if you need to leave your dogs for a short time. The roads to the cabin are no joke but you feel like you are in a secluded getaway. The town is cute and only about 20 minute drive. There are lots of things to do in the area but honestly it is difficult to get motivated to leave the cabin when everything there is so peaceful and nice.

Quiet getaway

Very nice home. It is well maintained and furnished. Fenced yard is perfect for dogs. My only concern would be the roads going into the neighborhood. Lots of twisted and steep roads some with blind intersections. Absolutely loved the property and perfect for a quiet getaway.

Shepherds Lounge was all the description claims

We had a wonderful stay, it felt like home from the moment we arrived for us and our German Shepherd, Charlie. The fenced yard is completely secure and Charlie loved it. The fenced yard is also well lite for trips out in the dark. Lovely porch to sit and relax, equipped with thoughtful dog accessories, Charlie especially liked the pool filled with balls and the Coolaroo dog bed. The house was extremely clean, and has everything to make our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend Shepherds Lounge.

Nice home with extras!

We had a great time with our shepherds! Y’all went well beyond with the extra touches with treats for the pups,toys,ect. Then the shower gel, razor, shampoo, conditioner and body bath gel you provided in the shower for us! The well thought out backyard for the pups was also awesome and sooooo enjoyed! Thank you for sharing your home with us and doing the little things that make it special.
