Come make everlasting memories at this beautiful home that sits on the Ellijay river! It features a huge wrap around, screened in porch, with a hot tub, Weber grill, 2 rocking chairs, and dining seating for 6. It’s perfect for enjoying your coffee in the morning or your wine in the evenings. There’s also a paved fire pit for you to enjoy at night.



This home is less than 5 mins to downtown Ellijay and sleeps 8 comfortably. It has a huge first floor master with a King bed and a large Roku TV. The master bathroom, walk in shower, and walk in closet are also just as large, and is separate from the other bedrooms. The other 2 bedrooms are located upstairs and share a double sink “Jack n Jill” bathroom with a tub. Both bedrooms are comparable in size, have Queen beds, large closets, and Roku TVs in each. Outside of these bedrooms, there is a small loft with a twin memory foam pullout couch. The second twin pullout couch is in the game/tv room that is located in the sunroom near the master.



The game room has a Roku tv, comfortable seating, a ping pong table, and foosball table. It is off the master and wrap around porch. The house has gorgeous high ceilings that make it feel open and airy. The living room will be the place to gather with your loved ones as it has ample seating for everyone. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need to cook a meal for a large group. It is beautifully updated with dining for 8 and barstools for 4. There is also a half bath off the living room for convenience. The large laundry room is behind the kitchen and off the garage entrance.



IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ !

This home is what we call “the main house” on this property. “The river front cottage” - please see listing link below - is located a few hundred feet away from the house. This is a rental as well, so understand you may have guests there, so if you want to be secluded, this is not the property for you. We planted fern trees to separate the yards, but until they grow larger, there will not be complete privacy. They have their own yard/hot tub/and firepit, so those will not be shared.



THIS PROPERTY IS PERFECT FOR HOSTING LARGE GROUPS like retreats and family reunions - it has 3 homes total on 6 acres of land. The 3rd property is linked below and is called “the treehouse”. The treehouse does not have any privacy issues since it is literally up in the trees away from both “the main house” and “the cottage”. All 3 homes can accommodate up to 18, while still having your own space.



Other things to note:

LATE CHECK-OUTS & EARLY CHECK-INS: Check-in time is 4PM and checkout time is 11AM. Door codes do not activate until set check-in time. Early access will not be provided without prior approval. Guests who check-in early or checkout past checkout time will charged the additional fee of $50/hr.

There is a security camera facing the driveway that will be on during your stay. Any pets or extra guests seen on property is subject to a charge.

Our kids absolutely loved playing in the river! Take a pair of knee high boots or waders. We were also pleasantly surprised that the kitchen had everything that we needed. Also found a pack n play and a portable high chair for those traveling with tiny ones! 10/10 recommend.

The property was great. It's very secluded with only one neighbor next door. The layout of the house was good with kitchen, living room, and master bedroom on the same floor. The back porch was very nice with comfortable chairs and a great table for outdoor dining all of which overlooked the river. The firepit was used nightly and worked well. And yes, we enjoyed the company of the duck, who enjoys fresh pears and cucumbers. However, the place was covered in leaves. Fortunately there was a leaf blower in the garage which i was able to blow off the front porch and walkway and the back patio. Also multiple plates and some of the silverware were dirty with dried food on them. And last but not least, the towels smelled moldy, as if they were put away wet. Other than that we enjoyed the spacious master bedroom, comfortable king sized bed and the large shower. We would definitely stay here again!

What a beautiful peaceful place to be

The cabin has everything you needed, the kids absolutely love it, it’s very clean, the river is very soothing. We absolutely love this place, and it’s very convenient to stores and very close to the main road, you don’t have to deal with a lot of curvy road getting in and out. We’d come back to this cabin again.
Had family over for s’mores on our last night there. We got to see the mama deer with her little one swimming in the river. So adorable!

Ellijay Mountain Home on the Water exceeded every expectation. This property offers a truly tranquil and picturesque escape. Peaceful get away location

The home was beautiful! It had everything we needed - all the little extra things that make your stay memorable - board games, extra things in kitchen for anything you want to cook like spices, things in the yard kkke the fire pit and playground, room to run around, binoculars to watch the cardinals at the bird feeder, the hot tub, and of course the amazing view. We had trouble getting hot tub and the fire place indoors to work but once I text the owner, Mary Jo, she was very helpful and walked us through how to make the hot tub work. It was an easy fix. Fire pit not so much but she and her husband were available and helpful. They were willing to get someone there to help bc we could not figure out the fireplace. But we decided not to do it since it was our last night. This was truly a special place with access to so many fun places to explore. Our only minor issue was that We wanted to do early check in but I struggled to reach 5 Star Vacation Rentals before our arrival. They were often a little slow to respond. Prior to the trip.

A breath of fresh air with beautiful surroundings!

The home and property are beautiful and very spacious. Comes with everything you would need to entertain family and friends. Sitting on the screened in porch in the morning, drinking coffee while listening to the river run over the rocks was just about as peaceful as you can get. We fished the river for a few hours on a couple occasions and had a few hits but didn't land anything. Located in the middle of everything. We drove to Atlanta for a day and then up to Smokey Mountain National Park for a day. We absolutely are going to look into staying again and bringing family along next time. Had a great time in Ellijay and the cabin. Hanging out at the fire pit made my trip. With the weather being comfortable and the water was very relaxing. Tried my luck with fishing, glad there were restaurants in town serving fish. Overall had very good time looking to do it again.

Disappointing Experience - Numerous Issues

As soon as you walk in, there is a musty/moldy odor in the home. The house smells and feels very damp. We've stayed at other cabins on creeks or lakes and never encountered this issue. After a long day of travel, we wanted to freshen up, but the hot water heater wasn't functioning properly. Although the hosts were quick to address the issue other guests have reported similar problems. In terms of cleanliness, the house is lacking. There are cobwebs throughout, the grill is filthy, the firepit was full of cigarette butts, and the primary shower has mildew and mold. There was no toilet paper in the primary bathroom and no extra rolls anywhere. Additionally, the outside trash bin was already 3/4 full when we arrived, making it difficult to dispose of our trash. The foosball table, which was advertised, was missing. While this wasn't a major issue, it was disappointing for our young children who were excited about it based on the pictures. All of these issues might have been more manageable if not for the unbearable smell coming from the chicken farm DIRECTLY BEHIND the house. When the wind blows towards the house, which is often, the smell is overwhelming, making it impossible to enjoy the porch or the creek. I would hope future guests consider finding alternative accommodations for their visit to Ellijay.

The house is beautiful and nicely furnished. The master bed was very comfortable. Great location on the Ellijay River. The hot tub worked well and was so relaxing. We enjoyed the patio and fire pit, but the Adirondack chairs need to be replaced because some are broken. For the price and extra cleaning fee, I was disappointed to see so many spider webs inside and outside that appeared to have been there for quite some time. It would have been nice to have a broom and some dish cloths/sponges. The property is beautiful, but needed mowing.

Spring break getaway

The house was very nice and up to expectations. The location right on the river is just beautiful. My husband is handicapped but was able to get around the house and grounds just fine. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the essentials and there was plenty of storage throughout the house. We did have a little trouble getting the remotes sorted out and the ones that worked the fans did not always seem to function properly. Also, the master bedroom tended to be a bit chilly, but we did get that worked out. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would certainly consider renting this property again

Annual Sisters Retreat

My sisters and I are best friends. We go out of town annually to spend a relaxing fun time together. This property was comfortable and very welcoming. It suited the four of us perfectly. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. The Ellijay River babbled feet away from the property line. Ellijay has great character restaurants and shopping. Mercier Orchards wasn’t far away. If you want yo relax and leave the bustle for a bit — Mountain River Retreat is for you.
