Thunder Falls | Waterfalls | Fishing-Lake Access
Step out of the car and you are greeted with the crush of the waterfalls just below, and in an instant you understand exactly where the cabin got its name. An open and airy interior, charmingly quaint and cozy, tucked away in a rich natural landscape, Thunder Falls has a special atmosphere and appeal all its own. From the graveled parking area, you round the landscaped corner of the cabin, headed toward the sound and the cabin’s entrance and reach the hand laid stone path leading to the covered porch and the only thing that could possibly make the scene appear more like one from a storybook—a handmade wicker chair, rustic and inviting, a welcome seemingly from the surrounding forest itself beckoning you to sit and take it all in. The cool, clear waters of Turnip town Creek wind through the trees and around the bend, smoothing over stones, hollowing out perfect bowl shaped dips and narrow crevices and crannies as it cascades down the gentle sloping of the hillside. At Thunder Falls you have a birds-eye view of this scene. From the covered entrance, spacious front porch, or even the shaded picnic table deck perched on the hillside above the falls, the cabin’s outdoor living space is dedicated to helping guests soak in the cabins unique natural setting.
Cute & cozy, Thunder Falls, is a two level cabin perfect for a couple or small group of four looking to getaway. The main level at Thunder Falls has a fixed glass front, with a front facing view of the surrounding trees and foliage and perched high enough on the hillside to bask the entire living area in a shower of radiant sun, Thunder Falls welcomes inside the natural beauty of its surroundings like no other. The kitchen, dining area, and area holding the sofas that surround the great room’s gas log fire place all open into each other and by extension of the windows and French doors, the serenity of the woods outside. A gas grill, patio set, and even a quiet, shaded reading nook at the back of the porch have all been provided to help guests comfortably unwind and truly enjoy the great outdoors!
Thunder Falls has beautiful handmade log beds, a Queen in the main level bedroom with two window seats, a stained glass transom, and adjoining bath. The Queen bed in the loft level master bedroom has a private sunroom, small flat screen TV and DVD player. The loft area has a spacious built in desk and work space, though with wireless access throughout the cabin you need not feel contained. Guests can access another outdoor seating area through the cabin’s unfinished basement, and from that lower deck follow more landscaped stairs down to the small hillside deck tucked into the surrounding laurels and hemlocks, overlooking the falls rushing by below.
While there is no landscaped access down to the falls themselves, guests can chose to venture down into the shaded and laurel filled area accessing the area above the water and pools above the falls to play and splash in the creek. Lush and serene, with the tranquility of Turnip town Creek serenading you all the while, Thunder Falls is a beautiful place to call your North Georgia Mountain Home!

Beautiful surroundings.
This was a lovely cabin in a beautiful location. The cabin was well appointed and very well stocked with quality dishes, cutlery and pots and pans.
Because of recent rains the waterfall was full and beautiful.
The only drawback was the ROKU TV in the living room. The channels have to be individually downloaded and in most cases you had to have a PIN number to accomplish this which was not provided.
All in all wonderful trip.

Peaceful Weekend
This cabin exceeded our expectations! It was so clean and welcoming the minute we walked in. The spring down from the cabin was so wonderful and we also were close to one of the hiking trails which was lovely. We will DEFINITELY be coming back here!

Perfect cabin by the falls experience
Unbelievable home, cozy, comfy and perfectly stocked exceeding all expectations. Worth the drive from Texas. Falls in the backyard were the best in the area. Hot tub was a cherry on top. Beds weren't the best but the home and views are so peaceful you can ignore the bed. Our only bump in the road was the attendant in the welcome center who wasn't pleasant and didn't care to help us with our gate card that was not working. We had to get out of the car each time we wanted to enter. The cabin itself was well labeled and there was plenty of communication about safety, rules and regulations. By far one of the best homes we have stayed at.

Great cabin!
The cabin was great. Clean, as shown in the pictures, and the waterfall is beautiful! The directions to the cabin were not the easiest to follow and we missed nearly every turn we were supposed to make. I would not recommend taking a small car that rides low as the drive is steep and has a bump towards the end that might scrape a low car, but if you have a car that sits up a little more then I would definitely recommend this cabin.

Great place for a getaway
We enjoyed so much our stay! It was out anniversary weekend and it made a big difference to have the most amazing place to get away. The cabin was clean and very beautiful. The waterfall and hot tub made it extra special. We didn't get to enjoy the waterfall that much because it rained all all the time we were there but we could admire it from the room. We didnt really have to use the gate key as the gate was always open. We will definitely come back!
