This hotel is advertised as a spa and country club, not so. The country club is closed until further notice. There is a hair salon within but theres no info on when it opens. The room we had was large and the bed was very high yet extremely comfortable. The handle on the shower screen was broken and just needed a washer to fix it, the bath is difficult to climb into and the shower head could do with a clean. The room next to ours appears to be inhabited by the owners family and there is a constant sickly smell of food emanating from within. The restaurant and bar are owned by a separate company so the hotel staff are not allowed to serve you, as such nothing can be charged to a room. The girls serving in the restaurant are efficient and friendly, particularly Lasma. Breakfast on day 1 was undercooked and tasteless, day 2 was better as I requested a longer cooking time. We had meals in the restaurant on both evenings and the food was excellent. A pleasant enough stay but I wouldn't return.

We stayed one night in a room in the lodge. It was a good sized room with a big bathroom. Both were clean and comfortable. The lounge in the hotel was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were told that the hotel and restaurant were run by different companies. The restaurant was very good, we had dinner and breakfast, both were excellent.

We stayed one night. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was very good (above usual UK standards!). If you don't like the idea of Scottish breakfast (eggs, beans, porridge, toast or cereal) there are not many options, but the cooked breakfast was very good! We loved the hotel itself, looking like a castle and being surrounded by its own grounds. We visited on a very hot day, so the room was quite hot, but can't expect an old castle to have air conditioning, so you open a window and make it work!

Stayed in the Lodge which was ok I suppose however hotel seemed empty so not sure why I was put in the lodge. Waited over 40 minutes for a cooked breakfast even though it was no where near full capacity and had to tell the waitress to leave it as I would have been late for a meeting. Mentioned this to receptionist at checkout, and although I received an apology I was told that the kitchen is run by another company! Disappointed overall

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend, this is a lovely old hotel with bags of character, room was very comfortable very clean and quiet beautiful front view. Lounge etc lovely place to sit and watch the world go by great for a quite weekend away, but with walking distance of shops tourist attractions .Free WIfi all around the hotel drinks food etc very good and very reasonable will return

Fantastic stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is a wee bit shabby in places, grass knee deep at the front and couple of threadbare carpets but don’t let that put you off. The room was absolutely lovely and huge, en-suite was spotless with a fantastic power shower. Breakfast in the morning was cooked or continental and was lovely

We travelled as two couples and booked this hotel on the fly as we were travelling. Although some reviews were not positive, I have to say our stay was lovely. The room had a 'wow' factor as you entered and the bathroom was very modern. The single faucet tap was much appreciated after having to negotiate the two separate faucets of other places. The towels were very fluffy. I would note that there was a step down to enter the bathroom so one should take care, particularly at night. Our room was large and very well decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. In spite of the damp weather, the room was comfortably warm upon entering, which again was appreciated. We ate in the dinning room and the food was very good, as we all enjoyed our meals. After dinner, we retired to the back lounge and as we were the only people there, we had a great game of cards without worrying about bothering anyone else. Ron, bar and restaurant manager; Ben, front desk; and Josh, our server, were all great and friendly. The breakfast, while maybe not as plentiful as others, was still good. All in all, a good stay and I would return again if in the area.

I was excited to come here as the website looked lovely, and we had 'upgraded'. On arrival we were told we should drive back down the road we had entered on (with the local council estate houses back yards right beside the road btw) to the small house at the entrance to the drive. This was what may have been a gatekeeper cottage originally. It contained a communal point room, dining room and kitchen which would be amazing if you came here as a large group, maybe a wedding, but not great when it was my sister and i. There were three rooms, which had laminated paper signs saying their names. Then the surprise.....another door said it was only to be used by our room....yes it was the bloody bathroom!!! Our bedroom was spacious but didn't have a toilet or bathroom. So two females had to go down the hall, in full view of the other rooms to have a wee or shower or brush teeth! This was especially bad during the night when each had to get dressing gowns, unlock doors, wait for the automated lights and creep down the hall just to pee. Stressful and uncomfortable. The next morning I stepped out of the bathroom after my shower with my hair in a towel and dressing gown on to see a man come in the front door! What could I say but "good morning"!! And dash back down the hall to my room. The room had some nice features, with a comfy bed and some nice furnishings. Areas to improve include putting a light shade or some fitting on the bulbs in the ceiling!! Add a phone to contact the main hotel (we felt very cut off and a bit vulnerable, especially with the stupid bathroom set up) Elsewhere in the main hotel. Pool drained and out of use. Billiard table torn. Wires showing loose on the wall where lamps should be. Food wasn't good. Evening meal was bland and tasteless. Braised beef which I found fatty, greasy and stringy. Breakfast was 'upmarket' with a laminated paper offering standard fry up or veg one. No continental breakfast choice other than a dispenser with a few cereals you could twist out into your bowl, like you find in youth hostels. spills from the cereals were all over this table. Nothing else, no fruit, cheese, meats breads. Fresh tea and coffee wasn't an option, you had to pump the vacuum flasks beside the cereal dispenser....unless they were empty, which they were! I had the cooked breakfast, my sister had the veggie option. Nothing was Scottish as such, like haggis or tattie scones, but I thought it could be good. Nope. The black pudding had no taste, no slice of any flavour and I could only take one bite. The sausage looked a bit low quality and I was right. Greasy, spongy disgusting and I had to spit it into my napkin. My sister asked for scrambled eggs which came as a concealed lump of white and yolk with watery fluid leaking all over the plate. We both gave up and ate on the drive home. This place has potential and I am aware it has been through financial drama and new owners recently. I don't want to write it off and really hope you add to Elgins offerings in future. But. At the moment I would not recommend this place and would not choose to return.

When a hotel makes you pay in full when you check in and red flag should go up! On my recent stay to this hotel I was highly disappointed. They post as a 4 star hotel but at best it should be a 2 star. My room had tattered curtains around the bed posts, the boxspring was pieced together with fabric, the carpet and bed spread was stained and the shower knobs where not only broken but gone. The restaurant and lobby bar where leased to another party so they could not be charged to your room. My parents rooms ceiling leeked onto the aircondtioner then to the desk below. They were afraid to use the tv on the wall or the electric tea pot on the desk for fear of electrocution. The salt water pool, sauna and gym where all closed for who knows how long. They are listed as a 4 star with all these wonderful amenities but I think they listed another hotel. The mananger was never available but there was a sighting but of course unavailable on one of the 4 days we stayed there. What a disappointment for Elgin and Scotland!

The man at the reception Mr Ben , can single handedly reduce the ratings of this lovely hotel . Beautifully landscaped set amidst the centre of Elgin, the hotel needs to blame Ben as the sole reason for its malaise. He gave wrong information as far as the check out time was concerned when asked , as it was 11am and he said 10:30am !!!! He was rude impolite and extremely standoffish when requested to help us with our luggage as we were 3 families in 3 double rooms and had 6 bags which we were carrying but needed help with only one bag!!!!!! The hotel is extremely understaffed and the waiting staff seems to be frustrated and overwhelmed when even asked for a slice of lime. He also was arrogant when asked about the whereabouts about the rooms location and such persons have no business being the front face of the hospitality desk .
