Best Western Schwanen

Nice hotel in center of town. Uncomfortable desk chair made it hard to work in the room. Had business close by so it was very convenient. Will stay here again in the warmer weather to enjoy the center.

Interesting hotel for a two night business stay. I was given a maisonette room facing into the town wall (integrated into the room) which was very comfortable. Use the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and would recommend both. All in all an excellent stay.

Nice Hotel, Rude Staff

The hotel is beautiful but was way too far from Ulm where I was attending a show in the stadium (my fault). I had booked a three night stay and on the first night, asked them if I could shorten my reservation, and that I was willing to pay a one night cancellation fee (since I wanted to move to a hotel closer to town). The receptionist told me she thought they could give me 20% of my booking back but I'd have to confirm with the manager the next morning. In the morning, the manager informed me that although the hotel itself would have let me cancel and charged me something (maybe a night) for the cancelation, that because I booked through Expedia, they would not do anything to help me and charged me for all three nights, even though I left after the first night. I would not go to this hotel (way way way too far out from Ulm and because they were so rude).

Sleek modern family-run hotel (and brewery)

Excellent family-run hotel from the same family who run the 300-year old brewpub over the street. The hotel is only a few months old, yet the three different blocks each have different themes. We were in an old city-wall room, with the old wall actually inside the room, and a couple of steps taking us over that and on to a small balcony. Everything is very modern (posh espresso-maker instead of kettle!) and well thought out. The service is also great - a problem with our sliding bathroom door was quickly resolved, and the front desk were happy for us to leave our car in the (small, underground) car park for a few hours after checking out. The Schwannen brewpub serves as the hotel's restaurant, and its beer garden sits in the hotel courtyard. The regular and seasonal beers are amazing, and the food is very traditional hearty German (and local Swabian) beerhall grub. The hotel breakfast is also served in here, with the cold meats and cheeses supplemented by eggs and bacon cooked to order (if, like us, you're too late for the hotplate!). Ehingen is a lovely little town with great walking and cycling nearby, and a proud brewing tradition with three breweries in the town itself and another a pleasant country walk away in Berg. We'll definitely be back again!

Der Wellnessbereich ist überschaubar aber gemütlich und ich hatte ihn für mich alleine. Das Zimmer ist modern eingerichtet, mir teilweise zu modern. Die Dusche und das Waschbecken relativ offen im Zimmer ist nicht ganz mein Geschmack. Wer noch etwas am Computer arbeiten muss, sollte nicht das Bierkistenzimmer wählen. Sitzt man an dem Ende mit der Rücklehne, hat man keine besondere Beinfreiheit. Sitzt man mit dem Rücken zum Bett, hat man Beifreiheit aber unbequem weil keine Lehne und das Kabel in der Steckdose blockiert das Aufstehen zur Seite. Das Bett ist bequem und der Balkon war bei dem warmen Herbsttag auch ganz nett. Etwas enttäuschend fand ich das Frühstück. Bei schlechtem Wetter muss man, auch wenn nur eine schmale Straße, auf die andere Straßenseite ins Restaurant. Die Brötchen waren schlecht aufgebackene Beutel oder TK-Brötchen, die sich mit dem normalen Messer nicht aufschneiden liesen. Wurstauswahl war Durchschnitt und der Obstsalat machte den Eindruck mindestens am Abend vorher gemacht worden zu sein, da die Apfelstücke schon sehr weich waren.
