Grand Hotel Duca D'Este4.0 out of 5.0

A newish hotel starting to look a little tired if you look carefully. Room fine but breakfast passed it if you go late. Pool in the restaurant novel. Service good and food average if you want to eat in house. Location not a problem if you go by car but there may be issues if you want to go to Rome or Tivoli itself. Would go again because it was significantly cheaper than others...........but I would be wiser this time.
We were accommodated in Grand Hotel Duca d'Este (Tivoli) during two nights in course of an organized tour to Rome and Campania. The hotel can be considered as of good touristic level. Room is enough spacious, other amenities OK but no tea corner. Meals served in hotel restraunt were of good quality. Work of waiters was perfect.
Above average room and bathroom, helpful staff , but below-average breakfast. Bad location for Roman holiday. It's tour company's preference. If you have luggage you can't take a bus to go Rome. Taxi fare for Duca d'Este- Rome is €50.
Spent two days at the hotel at the end of August.Too far from the city, virtually non-existent internet connection.Eggs and bacon served for breakfast were cold and pastry stale.Only for those seeking just a roof over their head!
The hotel is NOT anywhere near Tivoli. It reminded me of a 1970's leisure centre. The bathroom had seen better days. The receptionists are inattentive, poorly mannered and make you feel like a nuisance. Breakfast was the worst we'd had in Italy. The surrounding area looks like a war zone - across the road from the hotel is a derelict vandalised petrol station. The pool is nice - very quiet. There were no staff other than a pool guard who looked at his phone all day. The photos on the website are patently very old. I suspect that this place will be razed to the ground. It is nowhere near the historic town of Tivoli and its Roman gardens. Do not go
This was our biggest disappointment in our 11 days Italy road-trip. Luckily we only stayed for 1 night. The pictures are not up to date. The whole hotel floor is carpet, and it smells like it has been smoked and they try to cover it with air freshener. Got a head ache of the smell. The beds are so worn out and needs to be replaced asap. The pool area are shared with other hotel, and the pool is not clean. Overall, not worthy of 4 stars, it's a sad old hotel which we do not recommend at all.
Decent middle class hotel, designed to look like an old Grand Hotel... shows some wear. Rooms are solid, nothing fancy and a bit tight. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is typical Italian and good. Watch out when you order coffee. I recommend to go for cappucino. I felt bothered a bit by hordes or ruthless, disrespectful Chinese tourists. The conference area was ok.. air conditioning was insufficient
Was booked in to the hotel by the conference organisers. Wouldn't say it's a 4 star hotel. Adequate at best. Dated in appearance, below par food but excellent and courteous staff. Wouldn't comeback by choice as it also isn't in a great area and too far outside of central Rome. Wi fi is very flakes and you can't have a so called business class hotel with that issue.
Stayed at the Grand Hotel Duca d'Este recently for a conference. My room was adequate for an Italian hotel. The facilities were fine for the conference. The food left much to be desired and the wifi was spotty at best. Not the best experience - would not book for a personal vacation.
The hotel is fairly isolated with very little around it, a 10 mins walk to the station where you can catch a train to Rome 8 stops and then transfer to the metro, in all it takes at least an hour by trains to get into the centre of Rome. Tivoli a small town about 10-12k away is 25euros by taxi each way. Unless your staying for business I would not recommend the Duca d'Este because of its isolation. The room was ok and clean with a very small shower, Internet was free via a daily password obtained from reception. The gym is old fashioned and the swimming pool basic. The TV in the room did not work at first I got it repaired and discovered no English speaking channels (as expected) this whole area is not for the tourist. Breakfast basic with cereals fruit and dried bacon and scrambled egg, not great but adequate. Staff were OK in general, I stayed for 4 nights and was pleased to leave.
