Our stay was ultimately enjoyable, but the booking process was difficult to overlook. We did not actually stay in the unit associated with this listing. Before our trip, we discovered that the original unit we booked weeks prior was unavailable and we were offered a studio in the Treetops area. The change itself wasn’t the problem. Had Elaine simply explained the booking mishap and immediately shown us the exact suite we were being moved to, we would have had no issue whatsoever. Instead, the substitution was not initially communicated clearly, and there was some mild shifting of responsibility when we questioned it. We were also told the replacement was comparable in price, but without initially being shown the exact unit, we had no way to verify that ourselves. The lack of transparency was more concerning than the mistake. Vrbo’s response was immediate and appropriate. Once involved, they helped clarify the situation and ensure we received suitable accommodations. The Treetops studio itself was comfortable, and we had a good stay. Overall, Elaine was an okay host and the final resolution was acceptable, but the bungled booking was difficult to overlook. I would recommend booking directly through the property’s website to help avoid the third-party booking issues we encountered.
