Days Inn Gretna Green3.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is actually based in the services off Junction 21/22 and is a mile away from Gretna Green. You can walk it but the road is a country road with no pavements so would advise driving as can be there in approx. 5 mins. The family room was basic but the bed was extremely comfortable and plenty of pillows - slept like a log! The shower was great and there were plenty of towels. If you wanted breakfast you could buy a voucher from the reception (extremely friendly and helpful) and go over to the services for breakfast - (1 min walk). There was ample coffee, tea, sugar and milk but bit strange in that with 3 cups there was only 1 teaspoon:-) Only point that would say against it was that the previous occupant had obviously had an accident with tea/coffee and it was splashed up the wall. This was easily wiped off with wet tissue and also left over hair conditioning sachets in the bathroom. Problems that were easily resolved and would stay there again.
Whilst some might consider being located in the middle of a Motorway Services, between Fuel and the Services itself, a potentially noisy and busy spot for a hotel, it's a well spaced site with mature planting so that external noise or disturbance didn't seem to be an issue, even with a window ajar overnight. The room being clean and well kept, the WiFi easy to connect with and the bed comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. For those with an early start, it's a shame that the Services themselves don't open until 6am, though a continental breakfast is available for those that wish - though not for myself.
Stayed here for one night on the way up to Scotland for our holiday. Check in and staff very good and room was fairly neat and tidy. The whole hotel just seems a little tired but on the whole it's okay for a stopover
The hotel was very clean and probably had the best shower so far in the UK. It's location is easy to find if you are traveling north to Scotland. The service area has the normal take-always and is a very short walk away. Breakfast can be organised if required.
Stayed here for 1 night only and it was 1 night too many ! The worst experience I've ever had staying anywhere ! First thing I noticed when I arrived was a bucket in the foyer catching water dripping from the ceiling ! Ok , things like leaks happen but , when morning came , they switched off the water in the rooms so I couldn't get a shower ! And most of my party were the same : no shower ! Depriving people of water is just ridiculous! Never again shall I darken the doors of a Days Inn ! Good riddance! ☹️
The reception team were very friendly warm and welcoming. The location was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of parking and for being so close to the road we didnt hear a peep. Unfortunately the bed was appauling. The mattress you couls feel every single spring and was soooo soft. The pillows were as flat as pancakes and we had to ask for extra. This wasnt a problem but the ones we got were equally as flat and when stripped upon our departure to help the cleaning team was so stained i wish I'd looked before i slept on it. Our brother and sister in laws room on the other hand had 2 HUGE plump pillows....but only 2 where we originally had 4 before asking for extras... We were going to ask to move rooms the first morning however spoke to 2 other couples in the group we were in all of whom found the mattresses shocking so didn't see the point to move all our stuff to another room with the same mattress. The shower though AMAZING! Fantastic pressure! Just wish there was a way of turning it on without getting in it and enjoying the freezing shock until sorting out the temperature or trying to stretch around the glass to set the temperature before getting in. The room needed some maintenance...the toilet seat was very very very loose and the toilet roll holder twisted verticle everytime you pulled the toilet roll but nothing huge. Overall the location, friendliness of the team and the amazing shower (once its on and the temp sorted) is what made our stay a 3 and not a 1. This was our first stay at a Days Inn and I'm not convinced I'll be staying again soon if all if the mattresses are the same
A true budget Hotel. Welcome at Reception.Very clean well kept rooms. Blue badge parking. Book on line for best prices. We paid £40.50 for a Tuesday night. This is a small chain that offers great value. Wifi is good.
Comfortable rooms, quiet hotel and clean throughout. Double bed with pull out sofa bed too. Dog friendly which is an added bonus for the long journeys with four legged fiends. Breakfast optional but we went to Waitrose at nearby services (other shops and outlets available)! Would visit again if doing long journey and needing an overnight stay.
Stayed here on our way to Scotland. It's just off motorway and just outside Gretna. The rooms are cheap and adequate but nothing special. The service station has a Waitrose,, Burger King, Kentucky fried chicken, Harry Ramsden and Starbucks so if you don't mind that type of food you're ok. We chose waitrose and used the microwave in the hotel reception. Wouldn't really want to stay too long. Considering its position it was quite quiet to sleep in. There was some dust behind the bathroom door and a tissue under the radiator but the bed was apotless
Great. Basic, cheap and simple. Great staff that are eager to make your stay pleasant. Tv, kettle, tea and coffee and free wifi. Don't expect posh but it really does the job. Parking is right outside and free. Thanks
