Crowne Plaza Dubai Deira

5.0 out of 5.0

It is and OK hotel. You can surely find better location for the money. Clean, calm, safe and a nice pool area but with continuous traffic noise. Deira is not the most upscale place - it is a commercial area, not a place for tourists, but the location is OK if you have business in that part of the city. Walk out in the evening and there I passed several some showrooms of industrial catering equipment a massage place and a scruffy supermarket.

Worth 4.. Not a 5, not by a long way. This hotel we've stayed at 9 times now. There are some good points, some great points and some not quite so good. The staff who have been there a while recognised us as soon as we arrived, despite it being almost 2 years since we last stayed here. George in the leisure side and Gina in the lounge, nice to see familiar faces. Pool area - Nice and quiet, plenty of sunshine and the pool was refreshing. Quality of towels has dropped. Lounge - No longer complimentary, not even for Spire Elite members, which is a shame. Sadly the selection of drinks has been down graded too. Heard another couple of guys comment on how they used to enjoy a JD & Coke on an evening last time they stayed, but there's no JD now. So you're paying for something that was previously free and getting less offered ! Food - Many thanks to the wonderful Umer, who makes the great omelettes each morning, always with a smile on his face. The quality of the food was as good as ever, which is as expected. Spice Island evening meals, very good selection, amazing food, not cheap but you don't mind paying for an enjoyable evening. Sadly the ambience is spoiled by young kids running around, left alone by their parents to treat the place like a playground. This was not addressed by hotel staff, including the management on duty. When customers are paying £50+ per person, they expect quality food in a relaxed environment, not having kids run around screaming and shouting. We chose to eat out at a couple of different restaurants on evenings and at those we never experienced the problems with kids. Breakfast at times were the same, kids wandering around unchecked, the parents busy eating or on their phones while other diners had to evade young kids. Management need to be empowered to tell guests to keep their kids under control, or if not then to leave the restaurant. Why should the majority have to put up with the small minority causing issues? Taxis - Slight downside is a couple of times when we were going out and asked the guys on the door to hail a taxi, we were instead offered a private hire car. The price is pre arranged, we were quoted 30AED for a trip to a restaurant, but we knew it wasn't that much. After explaining we wanted a 'proper' taxi, we had one hailed. Taxi meter price was half the pre arranged option, so we got there and back in a taxi for the price quoted for one way. Room - Club room as comfortable as ever. Huge, comfortable bed and amazingly soft pillows. Would we return again ? YES. Hopefully the restaurant managers will be firm with the issues raised, either child free dining times or separate dining area would be better. Adults only to fetch meals from the serving points, to avoid kids wandering round with plates of food.

Easy to reach train ,very fast and efficient ,goes to all main shopping centres supermarkets nearby, great breakfast, very friendly staff only too happy to help ,do watch out for the unmarked taxis very expensive compared to the normal

Here for a conference -otherwise I would not have chosen that venue. The hotel is located miles away from the main Dubai attractions. The tour desk would not accept credit cards The hotel shops sold very little apart from snacks

We stayed here five nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the service was excellent in all areas of the hotel. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and varied. Serving staff, efficient and so pleasant. Special mention goes to the concierge who helped us to book seats on the Emirates shuttle from Abu Dhabi to DXB. We found the lighting in the bathroom, particularly above the sink, to be poor, but just a minor complaint. If we ever return again to Dubai, this hotel would be our first choice.

I've stayed in this hotel for like 4 times now and enjoyed my stay immensly each time. I find the rooms particularly relaxing as I get to sleep much better and for longer hours in this hotel. The Spice Island restaurant offers a truly satisfying experience with a wide array of interesting cuisine. With friendly, courteous and very helpful staff everywhere from the reception area to the business center and swimming pool and concierge, all hands are certainly on deck to make your stay truly pleasant. I recommended this hotel to my wife on one of her trips and now she won't let us stay anywhere else. The swimming pool is very very clean and the changing rooms are well designed. I look forward to another stay at this very nice hotel

I could see why this would be a "love-it or hate-it" hotel. Very near to the airport which is good and yes, not in the most salubrious part of Dubai, but that's why it was good to stay there. Just a short walk from the excellent Metro system and you see a "real" Dubai, which unfortunately is not all glitz and money. The area doesn't feel threatening at all, so that was good. Back to the hotel, not 5 star glam, agreed, and it probably could do with a re-vamp, but the hotel staff can't do enough for you, were all pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent, couldn't fault the food or service. The hotel was very clean and well maintained and was what we expected pretty much, having read reviews and seen pics. No "rogue" Palm tree pictures on the net jazzing it up, just functional and value for money. If you want the tourist area, then this is not for you.Hello to Abdul at the pool bar who was a star. Thank you all. .

For a 1 night stopover in Dubai and near the airport we booked this Crowne Plaza and very much liked it. An upgrade to lounge entrance very welcome and worth the small amount we paid extra. The lounge is extremely good. In the evening they even serve a hot meal and drinks, etc. as usual. One of the best lounges during our 3 weeks trip through Asia. The hotel has style, great rooms and a nice pool. The Deira area is not "top notch" but the hotel is worth staying. The only negative thing is the smell of food in the pool area.

Excellent bar good atmosphere friendly staff being Saturday it was bit quite if you are in dubai on visit you should try once in deira menu also great starters looks expensive they should put volume for football matches which will create atmosphere great place

I recently stayed there on my way to Beirut from London as it was very convenient for the airport (about 10 minutes by taxi/car). I was immediately recognized as a Spire Elite Ambassador and was given an upgraded room on the 7th floor if I remember correctly. The room was reasonably sized and the beds very comfortable so had a very good nights sleep even if I had to get up at 4:30 the following morning. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is a little dated and not in a particularly nice are of Dubai though convenient for visits to old Dubai which is much more interesting than soulless downtown Dubai itself. You should note that it is very close to the flight path though you will only hear the planes outside or at the swimming pool which was nice. I cannot, however, recommend the Brioso Italian restaurant on site as the food was poor. Stay if in transit but not if you are planning to explore Dubai. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Sheik Zayed Road on the way back
