As a birdwatcher I was keen to see the spectacle of thousands of cranes coming in to roost at Lac du Der. This is the perfect place to stay nearby. Very pleasant accommodation. The owner most helpful but you need to converse in French. Discovered the amazing wooden churches in this area - well worth exploring too.

We are walking the Via Francigena and usually camp, but occasionally treat ourselves to a B&B. This one is exceptionally good. The building is beautifully restored, the hosts are charming and the food is wonderful. Each room has ensuite facilities and opens onto a sunny courtyard. There is a large shared lounge with TV and board games (but we were the only guests). I recommend this place unreservedly.

Excellent. Converted barn lots of character but not twee. Not lots of soft furnishings but comfy bed. Ground floor no access problem. Lovely family running the business. Provide dinner too if required. Good basic cooking. Wine available too. Kitchen provided if require I.e.To make own drink. Handy fridge to store own food overnight. Allow time to find it as off main roads but worth visit. Much nicer than town centre accommodation. Relaxing and secure parking. Local lake beauty spot/nature reserve if time to spend.

If you are looking for a relaxed quiet stay in a converted barn with spacious rooms ,look no further .Add to that a friendly owner (and dogs) a great garden and breakfast and lastly with good value for your money its all here.

If you are travelling through France and want a clean, spacious, cheap and quiet place to stay, then this is it. Our party of 8 people and a large hound were amazed to find this gem of a converted barn that possessed all the warmth and cleanliness you would expect from a highly rated hotel, yet set delicately in a rural location so quiet, that you could hear a moth cough from 100 yards away.

We stayed here on the way to Lake Constance in Germany as it was around half way and a little bit further on than Reims. Plus we'd got a bit sick of the inconsistent service in the bigger hotels so fancied trying somewhere with some proper French charm away from the bustle of a big town. We didn't know what to expect but figured the cost was so cheap that we could write it off and run to the comfort of a 4 star if necessary but thankfully this was not the case, in fact we had one of the best overnight stops I can recall with reality actually exceeding expectations, a very rare thing! When we pulled up at the gates we were welcomed by barking dogs which worried us but once our host Thierry arrived to open up, the 2 dogs became the cutest quietest and friendliest dogs I'd ever come across without being a bit annoying. These were just 2 of a number interesting animals on the site including 2 very sweet cats, Minou & Tigret. We had the the end room downstairs with 2 double beds (1 each!) which was well furnished and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was huge, water was hot. There was a nice patio outside which caught the evening sun. We'd read somewhere we could order a meal as the village has no restaurants and while it was hard to get any sort of menu, Thierry did us proud with quiche, salad, a warm chocolate sponge and some other bits served in an airline style plastic tray but don't think this was processed stuff, it was local produce and very tasty. We had a good night's sleep and after a breakfast of fresh croissants, homemade jam and never ending coffee we set off on the rest of our trip very happy bunnies. Just 2 things to note - Thierry doesn't speak much English so some basic French will go far. The shower cubicle is a free standing unit and with nowhere to put shower gel, we put it on the top edge of the cubicle where it promptly fell into the gap between shower and wall never to be seen again - luckily we had a spare! Wifi (pronounced "wiffey" in French!) was excellent and free. Merci beaucoup Thierry!
