Hyperion Hotel Dresden Am Schloss5.0 out of 5.0

As Dresden was the final destination on my 10-day trip through the former East Germany, I wanted to stay in a "high-class" hotel to mark the grand finale. There are many luxury hotels in Dresden, but I settled on the Hyperion because of its proximity to both the Green Vault and the Opera House. I am glad to report that the two nights that I stayed there ended up being just as enjoyable as I had hoped that they would be. First of all, the architecture and interior design of the place is itself a joy. Though the exterior of the hotel is subdivided into half a dozen or so facades that pay homage to the structures that stood at the site before the apocalyptic bombing of Dresden in 1945, the interior is an easily-navigable, modernist whole with a decor that is contemporary and fresh yet infused with baroque playfulness. The real highlight of my stay, however, was the service. Upon first entering my room (a small suite), I was delighted by a uniquely Dresden welcome which consisted of Richard Wagner's Overture to Rienzi playing on the sound system (Rienzi, Wagner's first successful opera, premiered in Dresden in 1842) and a freshly baked piece of Eierschecke on the coffee table (Eierschecke is a specialty pastry of the German states of Saxony and Thuringia and one of my favorite sweet treats of all time!). I always found the Hyperon personnel to be polite, eager to help, and attentive to detail. When, for example, I lost my hotel room access card, the gentleman at the front desk graciously apologized for the inconvenience (even though I was at fault) and quickly issued my a new card. I was most impressed, however, by the staff's willingness to help me practice my German (especially the concierge named Timo). Even though most of the staff could speak quite good English, they nevertheless humored my attempt to improve my German by responding to my inquiries in a considerately slow-paced version of the local tongue. So, on a final note, I'd like to thank the people of the Hyperion Dresden for providing such a memorable stay. Hopefully some of the staff from my stay in June are still present when I return someday, because I will return!
Everything about this hotel was Exceptional. The greeting on arrival, the check-in, valet parking, being shown the room and check-out. We only had 'standard' rooms but they were a good size, well laid out and very quiet (considering that we were in the centre of Dresden). The hotel's location is perfect for walking around the City sights. If I could give more the 5*, I would have done
I stayed for 3 nights and I will definitely go back. Very nice room with an excellent bed, clean and comfortable with a view in the nearby square. The staff was really friendly. Despite the fact they had some issues with the booking system they did their best to accommodate us in really no time. They also offered the possibility to stay for few hours in another room due to very early arrival until our room was prepared. Very basic but adequate gym facility and nice spa. Excellent location close to the river and the city center. The hotel's bar was really impressive with the quality of the drinks and not very expensive. Overall a very nice hotel.
Centrally located, this hotel offers everything one needs for a romantic weekend trip. Spacious rooms in modern funky decor, a great breakfast and friendly and efficient service make this a destination we would have loved to spend some extra days.
I stayed there for 3 nights and I have to say it is very good hotel. The location is superb (walking distance to all sites). The staff excellent. Rooms very comfortable, large and clean with excellent facilities. Restaurant serves great breakfast and dinners.
Excellent hotel, located in a nice area where you can walk to the main touristic places. Pretty new installations, the bedroom I stayed in was big, with a modern and beautiful decoration. Staff very friendly and willing to help.
This apparently was formerly a SwissHotel establishment; re-done, it still smells new in the corridors. It is centrally located (by the August Bridge, by major tram lines). The Wi-Fi was fine. The room has a Nespresso machine, and a pot to boil water for tea; complimentary bottled water and a small bottle of wine, and a mini-bar/fridge that I didn't open. Beds comfortable. Hotel itself is silent--almost hermetically so, like an airport hotel. One is hardly aware of other guests. Breakfast is a huge buffet, but not cheap. Concierge and front desk staff are very helpful, young, and multi-lingual. In short, a great , great deal, because prices in Dresden are not like in the big cities.
This hotel is a pure luxury as per Gwerman standarts (not for Asian, of course) with nice touches and comfy bed. The only strange thing is a bath design: if you aren't alone in the room, the toilet could be too "sharing" thing as it just behind your bed. Location is unbeatable and the breakfast is six stars.
We own our own business and it was imperative that we had internet access as advertised. Once we got there, we were told the access is spotty and might have to acces it from the lobby We had to spend a lot of time in the lobby. If we would have known we would have booked at another hotel. The front desk told us it's been like that for 3 days but reading the reviews this was not true. They would not even accommodate us to a room with better access. If this does not bother you this is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. If it wasn't for the internet problem, we would have given a 5
We stayed at this hotel during a recent tour of Germany. The room was a bit on the small side but it was very modern and beautiful. The hotel is located within a short walk to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The room and lobby was pristine.
