This hotel is not of the usual standard one expects from Mercure and is certainly nowhere near 4 star standard. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff are friendly and helpful, the beds were clean and comfortable and the wi-fi ok. Breakfasts were reasonable, though the coffee was not very good and the fruit salad consisted mainly of apple. The restaurant was good, albeit with a very limited menu. However, the meal served to our coach party on the first evening was poor and was served in a hot, airless room with no air-conditioning and no fans. This was also the room where our breakfast was served each day. The bedroom left a lot to be desired. There was no safe, the room badly needed decorating, the carpet was grubby and stained. There were tea/ coffee making facilities but no ordinary tea - and the cups were paper ones !!! In the bathroom the bath was worn and stained, the toilet was stained and the towels were very thin. The key cards were very poor. Mine had to be re- programmed 3 times during a five night stay and even when it did work it was usually at about the 6th attempt. Others in our group also had problems with their key cards.
Not a very warm welcome. As part of a coach party it was made clear that we we were not 'priority customers'. I had requested a room with a walk in shower which was not available. The shower gel container was empty and there was very little toilet paper left on the roll. The room was acceptable but no safe. We were in a back salon for breakfast . There was no toaster, no chopped fresh fruit and very little bread When the others arrived and complained the waiter went into the main restaurant and brought out a bowl of fruit from there. He also rigged up a toaster using an extension lead. However, the location of the hotel was very convenient.
Well, anyone from England will know this is like a Britannia. In the room PAPER CUPS and nothing to stir the drink with.OK on the other hand ,free parking and central. One night OK longer than that don't bother..
As other reviews have indicated the hotel is a little tired, but the staff and service was great. It is not signposted well, in that you can see the hotel but it doesn't direct you into their free car park, which given the amount of feedback thus far, surely putting a sign up isn't that difficult. It looks like you are driving across the pavement and not the entrance to the hotel. That said, the location is perfect, right next to the river, the parking is a great option and walking into town is literally 5 mins. For the price I would stay again
this is an awful hotel; room 302 was supposed to be non smoking; clearly someone has smoked in this room and adjoining rooms (I can say this with confidence from past experience). The room has drywall ripped out. The WiFi is spotty. The HVAC is terrible. The only positive was the morning receptionist who followed up on the taxi service which was running late to pick me up. I have instructed my company that they are not permitted to book my colleagues at the Mercure Parc Micaud Besancon.
Maybe over reliant on Sat Nav to get us to the Hotel with rather chaotic road system in Besancon, the SAT Nav said we had got to the hotel but there was no sign of it. Later we discovered the signs were high up on the hotel and hidden by trees, and the lower signs were also obscured by trees. There needs to be signs by the roadside. Otherwise an excellent buffet breakfast and pleasant room.
the room was big but very dated and used, the location is great but the staff at the restaurant are very rude and not make you feel welcome. will not use it again in the future as was a let down on the service point of view.
I love this hotel, convenient, large room and peaceful atmosphere. The front desk is very helpful. The bathroom clean and well stocked. The breakfast has a wide choice though it gets a bit boring if you stay 4 nights as there is no change. The only grouse remains from last time, you got to get your own water to use the coffee/tea maker. Well not everyone is used to drinking from the tap
The hotel is located near the city centre which is very nice. The hotel lobby is nice, the rooms however are old. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom is slightly outdated. Tippical French breakfast is with almost 17 euro very expensive. Personal is very friendly.
Best years are past. Needs care for detail. Mattresses are too soft and old. Carpets are stained. There was no toilet brush. Cleaning was good. Breakfast was good. A/c was present. Proposed products were good.
