This is hotel is so tidy and clean.....it's so refreshing. Recently refurbished, the room is very big with plenty of room. Bathroom is a good size, nice deep bath. I had such a good night sleep here, I didn't hear a thing from about 7:30. The food was amazing, locally sources food. Highly recommend the eggs and bacon, properly cooked! Best Hotel scrambled eggs ever! Staff are polite and helpful. Hotel is well placed between Dorchester and Yeovil. Hotel is currently having quite a sizeable extension, however from when I arrived to when I left didn't hear or see any building work noise or disruption.

The hotel was located ideally to explore the South Coast area- our trips out included much of the Jurassic Coastline. The room was very spacious and clean and it was great to have air conditioning since the window had limited opening. The tea tray was well stocked daily, as were the toiletries in the bathroom which were of good quality. Staff were really friendly and there was ample parking outside the hotel. Wi-Fi also mainly worked well- with poor Wi-Fi something we have frequently found in other large hotels we have stayed in. The building work to extend the hotel was not at all intrusive- it is a large extension but we were not disturbed at all. We only experienced to downsides to the hotel; the first being the quality of breakfast which we felt was mediocre. There was a good selection on offer at the buffet, however on our weeknight stays it seemed there was too much food out when there were fewer guests and it was out for too long, whilst on our weekend night of the stay the staff struggled to keep up with demand for the cooked food items and the buffet kept emptying as a result of the larger number of guests staying. The only other downside was the poor ventilation in the en-suite; the fire door is heavy and therefore the door can't be left open after showers to ventilate the room. The bathroom was therefore incredibly hot throughout the duration of our stay, Overall however, the hotel was reasonably priced and in a good spot for exploring the local area.

The hotel was extremely clean, well presented and clearly maintained to a high standard. The room was spacious, well laid out with a very large comfortable bed. Bathroom was also like new and no marks on the walls unlike some places we have stayed at recently. Air con as standard (although it did make a clunking noise in the early hours if left on). Breakfast (inc in price) was good with tasty sausages & bacon nicely cooked with a variety of continental options. Large free car park. Didn't eat there but restaurants looked nice.

Staying with friends who live near to the hotel we attended the "Beach Boys" theme night on 5th August. We attend many events of this type at different locations which we invariably enjoy while making allowances for the fact that food and service standards are sometimes stretched owing to the nature of these events. On this occasion however we were delighted with the organisation, the excellent standard of the food and the well co-ordinated and friendly service. The exterior of the hotel is a work in progress with a scrappy looking very large car park and construction is under way on a 45 bedroom extension - no issues arising from this during our visit. Inside though the hotel is very well laid out, tastefully presented and spotlessly clean. Staff were exceptionally smart in appearance and friendly. Nothing negative to say and we are looking forward to our next meal or event at the hotel when the opportunity presents.

Not stayed at the hotel but have visited the restaurant on many occasions. The food is outstanding and the staff friendly, helpful and always provide an excellent level of service. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a great value high quality meal out with family or friends. Great choice and excellent quality.

My wife and I had lunch in the main restaurant at the George Albert. I had baked cod and my wife had lamb. Both dishes had been cooked to perfection. The chef is clearly very accomplished and I cannot possibly praise his cooking skills enough - a very tasty and enjoyable lunch. The service was very good and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Ample free parking and if you like eating, a visit to The George Albert restaurant is a must.

We stayed in June and had 3 rooms. As before the Reception team were very friendly and efficient and we decided to have a snack and teas and coffees after checking in. Again service was excellent. All threes room were spotless. Breakfast was excellent and included in the price with plenty of choice and the nights booking was excellent value for money. This is a wonderful "Family Run" Hotel and don't be put off by location, its in the middle of nowhere.

We stayed here for 3 nights from the 23rd July. The hotel is very very good!!! The room was large with a large double bed plus air con!!! The bathroom was very good with lovely fluffy towels and good quality toilet paper!!! We had dinner for the first 2 nights which was excellent. Good food, good service and at a good price. The last night we eat at the Greyhound pub near by which I have reviewed on restaurants. We got this hotel by looking through TripAdvisor and made a great choice. If you are staying in the area this is the hotel to pick. Lovely staff, good hotel and good service!!!

We booked the George Albert Hotel at last minute. The price was very reasonable with breakfast included. On map, it is in the middle of nowhere but it was a real gem to use as a base to visit the Hardy Country and the Jurassic coast. After a few hours drive from London with stops in Winchester and Bournemouth, we arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon. On the outside, it was a bit of building site as it is expanding with another 45 bedrooms. The check-in was quick and hassle free. The inside looked clean. Our room was on the side of the hotel and it was a fair size in comparison with many we had stayed previously. It had everything we need apart from a mini fridge. The only gripe was the bathroom door - it was heavy to push open. According to the receptionist; it is a fire door. First time I have come across that the bathroom door has to be a self closing fire door, very interesting building regulations in this neck of the wood. The bed was firm and comfortable and plenty of materials to make yourself a hot drink. We had dinner on the first night as we were tired after the journey from London. Interesting set up - dinner is served in the bar area until 19:30 Over the next few days, we used the hotel as a base to visit different parts of Dorset. It was very convenience to get to most places with the satnav guidance us through the country lanes; ideal to test out our "new" SUV. At breakfast, it was waitress serving affair the first two mornings with good quality bacon and sausages. The staff were friendly and helpful. Whilst the weather wasn't exactly great when comparing with recently, but we had some beautiful sunset from the room window. The free wi-fi offered very useful speed (over 20Mbps), 10 times quick than a lot of the chains. I have no hesitation in recommend this hotel especially those wanting a base to tour around Dorset and Somerset.

Booked this night away on Hotel.com so got our stay at a reduced rate On arrival building work was taking place but this did not detract from the quality of the hotel and the professionalism of the staff on reception. The bar and reception were very welcoming and modern. We were in room 12 which was huge including the bathroom. It had 2 disabled call points one in the bedroom and the other in the bathroom. Also a drop down grab rail around the toilet, and wider doorways. The bed was huge and comfortable and the room very clean. Loved the decor in the bathroom, and the shower 👍🏼 The view from our window was a brick wall which was disappointing being in such a beautiful area. As the room was close to the lift it was a little noisy with people walking past to get to the stairs / lift Breakfast was lovely and a good selection. The only negative I would say is that I felt the choice of food on the menu for the evening was very limited Would highly recommended this hotel but it is quite a drive outside of Dorchester so be prepared for this.
