Large facility with spa and possibly casino as well as golf and tennis-- rooms could use aome updating but clean-- 30-40 min walk to town-- beach is long but sadly alot of garbage washes up on shore

Paradise with plenty of room for everyone

10 relaxing days at a fabulous beachside resort. Big room with a comfortable bed, with a thick mattress topper. The beach was spotless, no seaweed, no rocks and generally calm. Somedays it had the ‘Ghost town effect’ but we enjoyed very few guests, no screaming kids and 3 pools and a beach to ourselves. The weekends tend to be busy with domestic tourists and the odd bus tour stops in for a night though the week days. Dong Hoi city is only 2 kms away or 34,000 Dong taxi ride. Great staff and management made this an exceptional stay. Wifi worked every where even on the beach.

Overall the place was really good. It's beach front, but was raining while I was there, so was only on beach briefly. I didn't swim in the ocean. The resort has several really nice, picturesque pools. Restaurants are great, rooms are clean. They provide nice robes. The only dissatisfaction was the spa. I mostly booked this hotel for the flower bath picture they have in their overview. I requested this but they did not have it. I asked for a milk bath instead and the "milk" was put into the jacuzzi for both my friend and I, not a special bath for me. (I was already paying separate for jacuzzi,steam room and sauna.) The staff at the spa were really nice though and it truly is a beautiful setting! Minus this one detail, it was a great stay!

Great location and you get what you pay for

Lovely spot to chill out. Staff were friendly and we had a big airy room with the mod cons. The resort has seen better days with the rooms being tired and the food is average. But the pluses are a beautiful location, great pool and nothing better than to sit on a swing overlooking the sea. The value for money makes it worth it

Derelict and decrepit......

We stayed here to go to Phong Nha Caves foolishly thinking it would be a great beach resort... The pictures are all photoshopped as there is a concrete wall all along the so called beach... In hindsight there are basic but fair hotels in Phong Nha area that would have offered at least a more authentic experience in this area.... There is a lot of development going on however in Dong Hoi and maybe in years to come it may improve as a place to visit

Awesome ocean front resort

Sun Spa was a great resort. We were lucky to spend our last night during our 10 day adventure through Vietnam here. The food was phenomenal both for a sit down dinner in the evening and breakfast buffet. In particular I would like to compliment the bar staff for being able to spin some of the best poolside cocktails we tasted during our trip. Lastly, the hour long thai massages also did us very well. Very positive experience all around. Would visit again.

Outdated hotel, overpriced and overrated. Polluted

Check-in painful, staff's command of English poor to non-existent, room booked (suite) incorrect. Really quiet with the exception of Vietnamese guests at the weekend, so throughout the week like a ghost hotel, rundown and poor facilities all the equipment in the gym was broken. Work going on, on the beach so noisy and disappointing. We had to move rooms because the air-conditioning unit broke down. This hotel is stuck in a time warp, dirty 1970's carpet in the best suites! it really does need a complete re-furbishment, staff training on customer service and a review of their star rating as this is completely over estimated. The restaurant had an extensive menu but was told that all fish and seafood was off the menu due to pollution in the immediate area! Advised not to swim in the sea for this reason too. Totally disappointing.

Fun trip!

Beware! "Resort" is not as it appears!

This resort was completely empty during our stay. It felt like a ghostown. Only one restaurant was open and the food appeared very old. The pools looked cloudy and unkept. There was no access to the beach as described. There was no activity or entertainment during our 3 day 2 night stay. It was a complete disappointment and very strange that this large resort was so empty. The quality of the rooms is definitely not 4 or 5 star. Our building appeared to be quite empty as we never once saw anyone else in the hallways or heard any foot traffic. Of all the rooms they could have placed us in, the put us in a room with a view facing piles of construction debris and large concrete pipes and rebar. Everything including the bathroom was very old and worn out. Hallways are dark and musky. This resort has the potential to be a great hotel and perhaps it once was. At it's current stage, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Additionally, all services including tours to the caves are priced at a premium.

Great location!

I came here for a relaxing holiday in a great location. It has the great location, but there were many families with children so it ended up a bit more noisy than I would have liked. Great place for families with children, but for couples looking for a quiet romantic break, I would go somewhere else.

Horrible management have ruined a beautiful hotel

An example of how ridiculously run this hotel is - There was a small mistake with the pricing of laundry, no biggie... Ourselves and a genuinely lovely staff member didn't pick each other up correctly. They then made her stand infront of us and her colleges in tears, in the middle of the large and busy reception and apologize to us like a child - it was humiliating for everyone involved - us and her. The management refused to speak to us and all we could gather was the girl had to pay (it was far out of her ability to pay as the price was ridiculous). WE paid the outrageous sum, and the girl wasn't seen again (fired). Management were never seen once. We arrived 5 hours early for check in after a 12 hour train journey. We were told to wait in the lobby... And we did without a drink of water for 5 hours in 35 degrees of heat. Great welcome to this "luxury" hotel. We don't expect anyone to speak English, but after the girl mentioned previously was fired / left, there was absolutely no one who spoke a single word of English in the entire resort (I mean not a word, not a single person). They have HUNDREDS of staff, and this leads us nicely onto my next point. Over staffing with people who don't have a clue what to do isn't going to make anything run smoothly - and it sure didn't. There were too many occasions in our short stay to bore you with. Ruined Paradise. Don't book.

Vietnamese, family resort by white sand beach.

Quite a big hotel that seems to be a holiday resort for vietnamese families- so lots of children when we were there. Bit like a european 'thomson holiday' hotel.Staff vary but some were sullen and unhelpful. Decent spa. Food and drinks mediocre. However caves are worth going to and best hotel of this type in the area.

staff were very unhelpful and not any use, could not speak english even on reception, rooms are dirty and very old bathroom, loud live music played until late which can be heard very clearly in the rooms, woken early by staff shouting in the corridors, having stayed in over 10 different hotels across vietnam this was the worst by far even against a very cheap hotel.
