We had a lovely time here, being out of the town centre is nice. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, lovely staff, the bar/restaurant has lovely food and looks cool with the books around to read as well!
I spent one night here on business. The room was at the front of the hotel so there was a lot of noise from the road. Also if you left your room key in the holder the noise from the electrical box was incredible! So it was either take out the key and try to navigate your way in the dark to the loo or leave it in and wear ear plugs. The room was small but had all the necessities. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Very limited choice in McGettigans bar for food and very little on the healthy option front. Breakfast had a good choice and definitely catered extremely well for those who require gluten free. Extremely pleasant and friendly staff. Unfortunately I didn't get to the pool so can't comment.
Lovely busy hotel on the edge of town very friendly staff.. mcgettigans bar adjacent to hotel again very busy but great food friendly staff and local music.. a bit of a walk to the bustling town lovely cafes.. myself and my sister were on an ansestery mission and the Fiona in the local library was fantastic she couldn’t help enough.. overall a great place to visit
Stayed here for a night on the way to Gweedore. Very handy location, right beside main road. Choose a room at the back of the hotel and on the 2nd floor for quietness. Bar food very good. Friendly, helpful staff. Got great rate through hotels.com but turned out the hotel was offering a rate of eu10 less per room. So check with them first.
We stayed here on the 17th of June. Unfortunately for us, there was a big car meet in Letterkenny. However, the staff gave us a room at the back to minimise the noise. As it was, it didn’t really bother us - we just tuned it out! We had the carvery as our meal of the day and it was lovely. Loads of choice of fresh tasty food it was incredibly busy, but there were plenty of staff so it was all good. This morning, after a good nights sleep in an incredibly comfortable bed with lovely soft sheets we went for breakfast at about 9am. The restaurant was deserted, which was nice. I asked about gluten free and was shown a gluten free dedicated table with cereal and sealed packs of bread with a toaster marked gluten free only! The maitre d asked if we were staying two nights so he could arrange gluten-free sausages! He even saw me pull a face when I tasted the filter coffee and brought me cup of fresh bean to cup coffee!!!! I was mega impressed! All in all, a lovely stay. I forgot my swimsuit, but the pool looked lovely too.
Stayed in Clanree for 3 nights and nothing bad could be said about this hotel. The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. We had two very restful nights..the third not so restful but that was because there was a car rally next day and the noise of the cars was a nuisance going on into early morning.. but this was by no means any fault to the hotel. The food in McGettigans bar was lovely and again the service was second to none. We couldn't say anything negative about the Clanree, it's a beautiful place to stay and we definitely will be back..just not at car rally time.
Checked in today 12th June, staying in room 240. Firstly upon arrival was met my your receptionist who was extremely rude and couldn't even as much as wish us an enjoyable stay. The receptionists of any hotel should know how to meet and greet your customers politely. We ventured out for a few hours and have just returned and seen that there was a few in the bar so called in for a drink and found the bar man to be equally as rude and unhelpful. We stood there for over 10 minutes on a drink and was clearly seen by the barman who choose to ignore us. We were so looking forward to our night away but are now currently sat in our room. In closing these two members of staff really should up their skills in customer service. I am never one to complain and my past reviews will verify this but felt this hotel needed to know.. Needless to say we will not be returning..
I like my lunch out but not indoors in this weather if I can help it. Sadly while the meal was excellent and I couldn't fault it, the dining room was too warm. Possibly an A.C. system upgrade. Other wise I could have gone out to the Smoking area but not ideal. I know we rarely get the heatwave we have at the moment, but a bit of forward planning and maybe a few fans even? Everything else was fine, staff were friendly and probably roasting as well, food was excellent. So note to myself, do not dine here on a hot day.
Good room rate , but tired looking tread bare carpet on the stairs ...had a pub lunch went for fish and chips ... was just very average food ... good service from the waitress...no air conditioning in room ...the hotel could do with a face lift ... painting on the outside... bad sewer smell at rear car park ... there was a lorry there taking away the contents of what looked like a septic tank ...
Treated ourselves to a 2 night b&b + 1 evening meal at Clanree Hotel. Matt recovering from knee replacement op, when checking in asked about possibility of a room with a shower and we were allocated one. Reception staff pleasant and helpful. Our evening meal was in the bar, good meal and again pleasant staff. Good choice of food for breakfast. Set evening menu had a good choice, again good meal
