Villas Rio Mar3.0 out of 5.0

We came from La Fortuna/Arenal Volcano five nights stay. Villas Rio Mar has a nice set up, but it's outdated. We had a kitchen suite that was in the less picturesque part of the hotel. If you do not really need the kitchen choose the Junior suite without the kitchen. Food is good. Breakfast great. I was honestly dissapointed in Manuel Antonio Park (overrated and crowded). I would skip that stay in Dominical and go all the way to Osa Peninsula. After so many parks in the La Fortuna/Monteverde area Manuel Antonio has nothing to offer, but a nice picture. Dominical is very cute stuffing town though. Phat Noodle was out favorite place to eat (Thai fusion).
When we arrived the motel looked nice from the outside and the staff was friendly and prompt. Walking to our room we were pleased with the facilities beautiful courtyard and the look of our room the outside. However, we were sorely surprised when we entered our room! It was SO small that there was not even enough room to sit ONE of our suitcases on the floor and open it up! And we had a room with a twin bed and a double bed.. We literally had to put our suitcases on the bed, open them up and get out what we needed, close them up, and put them back on the floor standing up. Then walk around them in the room, where they took up 90% of the free floor space. The bathroom was almost as large as the actual room and was infested with ants! We were unable to leave any of our toiletries on the counter due to this. All in all we were highly disappointed with this motel and spent the remainder of our 3 night stay in Dominical in another motel.
Our experience was very good after we finally located the Villa. The grounds and staff were very accommodating and good value. One problem was the road to the Villa which was so very rough that we hated to travel it to the beach or leave the Villa. We made several trips to the beach and also zip line at Hotel Bura.
