Great service and food, upgrade available and our granddaughter had a room close to us. Very helpful on getting us on good tours, and trip to Gozo. Recommend going in summer, or for carnival. Beautiful location and good service.
Good location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Given the circumstances on the island the hotel is the best option to staff in Roseau. Service I the restaurant was a bit slow but the quality was good. Several nights there were limitations on the menu.
The Unwavering Resilience of the Fort Young Hotel in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria is incredible. The Management and Staff work hard to make their guest feel satisfied and comfortable. A+ Rating !!
Thank you to the staff at this hotel. The food produced, the rooms and cleanliness. 46 rooms back after the hurricane in September. Whole place under construction but it didn't spoil our stay as we realised the need and everyone was so nice. We were on holiday and the only people in the hotel who were I believe. Everyone else seemed to be aid workers, construction company personnel, people helping to rebuild the island.. Fort Young Hotel has worked wonders over the last 5 months, since a total devastation from the hurricane in September 2017. We had a superior ocean front room. Clean, spacious, everything working. Beautiful view from the room. Balconies not quite ready to use fully as scaffolding still erected. The pool and area wasn't finished. The bar and restaurant were in good order Great location, 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Well done to the people of Dominica, devastated island gradually rebuilding and soon will be ready to take tourist back.. People were so friendly to us So pleased we visited you
Fort Young Hotel was very appealing because of its history. I enjoyed my stay there but the breakfast was disappointing. The location of the hotel is excellent and the flower arrangements were truly beautiful. It was generally a positive experience.
I had another great visit at Fort Young Hotel during my New Year holiday, my first visit back to the island since they were slammed by Hurricane Maria. The staff at the Fort did not let the challenges caused by Maria hinder the outstanding service they have always provided. The entire team was very accommodating and willing to make sure I had another memorable visit. They definitely exceeded my expectations once more.
Despite the hotel being shut down following the storm disaster Tarisha ensured that our booking from February 2016 for our 10th anniversary was honored. We were humbled by the efforts that the staff made to ensure that our anniversary celebration went ahead despite the hotel being closed for repairs We wish to also highlight that the room was well decorated to suite our anniversary celebration with Mr & Mrs towels, petal's etc wow it was very romantic, and to top it off a bottle of champagne. We remain grateful especially to Tarisha. Thank you. Mr & Mrs Bernard
I travelled to Dominica to attend a relative's funeral and spent a weekend at the Fort Young Hotel. It was the most I have ever paid for a stay at a hotel and I have stayed in well over one hundred hotels in the Western hemisphere, Europe and Asia.. This is somewhat understandable as hurricane Maria significantly reduced the number of rooms available on the island. I was emailed a message from the hotel via my online travel service which indicated that the hotel is not operating at its normal standards and that it was damaged by the passage of Hurricane Maria and there are areas that are under re construction. Also certain amenities are not available such as cable TV, pool access, gym, no elevator access among others and that there was a limited menu for breakfast, lunch and Dinner. In spite of the depleted amenities my stay was fairly pleasant. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet except for the pleasant pounding of the waves which made for a good night's sleep. My online travel service communicated to me that Fort Young Hotel, a +VIP Access hotel, will be supplying to me a USD 25 resort credit and 15% off spa services. I informed the front desk of this and they responded positively but asked me to forward the message to them. After I did so they told me that they had not received the email. I showed them the message on my phone but they said that they could not act on that and asked me to forward the message to them again. To cut a long story short after forwarding the message to them four times and showing the desk clerk my phone which indicated in my 'sent' folder that I had in fact sent the message to their email address I was told that they could not give me the USD$25 credit because they had not received my email. I sympathize with them because they appear to be going through a difficult time and perhaps they should not have offered the credit at all. It would have saved me a little time and effort. Overall my stay was good albeit expensive.
Fort Young has over the past couple years has felt more like a home than a hotel, based on the personalized care, attention and flexibility consistently extended to me by the management and staff. Receiving excellent service during each visit to FY had become the norm for me. Hurricane Maria struck as a category 5 storm on September 18, 2017. I was completely overwhelmed by the level of service that was provided before, during – yes during – and after the hurricane. No efforts were spared to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests, even in the face of utter devastation. Staff kept in close touch with guests even during the storm ensuring the safety of all. After the hurricane, despite significant damage to the property and the country, FY creatively found away to provide periods of electricity, access to running water and three meals per day for their guests. I tip my hat off to the amazing spirit of the Fort Young management and staff family. You are truly phenomenal and epitomize the essence of service even in the most dire circumstances. Wishing you all a smooth path to recovery and healing.
A good hotel is a hotel that offers excellent service and attention, restaurant and bar first, nice rooms, in normal conditions. A GREAT hotel is when there are no normal conditions. Fort Young Hotel is a GREAT hotel, because after the passage of Hurricane Maria, and in minimal operating conditions, the staff and management took care to give the best service they always give. And it was the best service I have ever received. My congratulations to Mrs. James, Tarisha, Brian, Rene, Talifa, Albert, Keith, Sergio, Theresa, the Cheef! ... all of them, made the effort to make us feel at home. It is the BEST HOTEL EVER! They should rename the Gran Hotel Fort Young.
