Good place and nice rooms. Staff was attentive and professional. Really liked the front desk people. Good selection of breakfast and room service menu was also good. TV was not tuned and had handful of local channels in poor quality video. Water heating system was not effective and no information was provided how to turn in the water heater, AC temperature or coffee maker. The safe also was not working and was locked and would not open. In short nice place but amenities were below average.
The hotel is near the popular Souk Wadi about 17 mins walk or you can ride a taxi cost around $6 Qatari. Rooms are clean with all necessities, coffee maker, water heater, safe etc. There a swimming pool, gym and sauna. Nearest supermarket is about 7 mins walk. At Souk Wadi you can get on the local hop on hop off bus.
I will come back again, im very enjoy stay in Retaj Royale Doha, Friendly staff, good location, comfortable bed, nice breakfast, strong internet, near to cornice, sauq wakif and clean room, nice breakfast
Not far from airport, Near most of the activities: souk, museum of Islamic art, corniche. Big room with huge Tv, sofa and table, desk, large bed. In the bathroom : shower and bath. Nice and professional staff. 24 h room service and lot of english,Italian or French channel on TV. Will come back here next time
We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and were very pleased with everything. There was a slight hic cup with our pickup cfrom the airport but this was only a delay of 20minutes. Upon checking the reception appologised and upgraed us to a suite. Room was well appointed and the bathroom was huge. Everything was well mmaintained and the bed linen changed daily. The hotel is in walking distance to the Souk Waqif and the Museum of Islamis Arts.
Stayed in this hotel overnight in transit from the U.S. to Africa. It's located within a 15-minute drive from the airport, offers spacious and well-appointed rooms. The dinner buffet served at the restaurant was of the traditional local type mainly, with a decent choice. The staff was attentive and courteous. A very good value for money.
Retaj Royale's proximity to the Souq and the Islamic Art Museum is excellent. The desk staff were very good - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious and clean with a very comfortable king sized bed. We highly recommend staying at the Retaj Royale Hotel when in Doha.
I was traveling in business trip, usually I stay in Shangri La but don't know why this time I've decided to try new hotel in Doha. Upon arrival I had to wait 15 minutes to be checked in - first disappointment.... After getting into my room I found out that the room is dark, TV not working and worst of all I found someones HAIR in the shower.... I thought that was all but noooo a lot still yet to come. After sometime my business partner arrived to meet me and he WAS NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO MY ROOM, he had to wait in the lobby as that was the only place to meet guests. I would like to highlight he was a MALE not FEMALE. It is impossible to order regular taxi using "friendly reception staff" , always NUMBER IS BUSY and they recommend hotel limousine. I am not against paying more for better service, and if I order limo I expect somethng more than dirty honda accord, no leather with some dirty food marks on the seats.... I ordered twice and the "limo" was always same standard, as for prices : 1,5 km trip costed me 20 QAR / longer maybe 20 km = 100 QAR but price reduced when I asked for receipt to make an official complaint to 80 QAR. Breakfast was not tasty, the food was old I didn't enjoy it at all. In general that was the worst hotel I ever stayed in my life and I will never stay there. Moreover, I will not recommend that hotel even to my WORST ENEMY !!!
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The room was huge and had everything I needed. I found all the staff friendly and helpful. I could walk and catch the bus to all the sights I wanted to see. I did have the hot water problem that others had mentioned (I was on the 8th floor) - lukewarm on my first night. I called maintenance the next morning and the guy turned on all the hot water taps (shower, bath, basin, bidet) and left them running for a few minutes and problem solved. From then on I just let all the taps run for a few minutes before my shower. An inconvenience, yes, but everything else more than made up for it. Note that this area has many hotels but the surrounds are a construction zone. I can see that one day it may be the tourist hub as there are lots of cultural things nearby and will gradually get tidied up. I was a single middle aged woman travelling on my own. I had absolutely no issues with safety and security and felt perfectly safe walking around at night, catching buses including to and from the airport at night etc - in fact so many people (men) went out of their way to help me that it was noticeable and a level I haven't experienced anywhere else. Thank you Qatar! My flight wasn't until 2.30am and the hotel let me have a shower on the 14th floor and looked after my luggage even though I had checked out the day before. Very welcome. I would definitely stay here on my next visit if the price was right.
I stayed for a night in this hotel. The standard room is huge compared to a standard room in other hotels. It was spacious and has got decent amenities. But the bad experience was no hot water running in the bathroom. I told this the reception and got a maintenance man who just let the water running for minutes. I was amazed as the hotel was telling the guests to save water and Qatar is a desert country, so water is a precious commodity. They should fix that pipe problem properly inorder to save water decently. The bathroom has a bad ventilation or nothing at all. I left early in the morning so I could try the breakfast buffet. Be careful when taking a taxi from the hotel. As I have prebooked a taxi a private car arrived to bring me to the airport. The car itself was dirty and full of stains inside. The driver spoke hardly english. Insist in getting you an official metered taxi from the hotel! The fair from the Apt to the hotel should only cost you 50 QAR and not more.
