The Marriott Doha feels a little dated. It is perfectly comfortable and relatively close to the airport (10 - 15 minutes by taxi) ... Bed is comfortable and the room spacious. However we were on 4th floor unfortunately overlooking a bunch of air conditioning units / fans and actually it was pretty noisy. I would check straight away what you are overlooking. It is a big hotel so I guess we were unlucky and did not ask to move as we arrived late and had to leave very early. Nonetheless was pretty annoying. Hotels should better sound proof rooms from their own air conditioning machinery...
Was disappointed, need to be full renovated ASAP and as per the standard, since I can see or feel anymore the CI of Marriott... Room was dirty ( even I waited 20 minutes extra to finish cleaning), no light at shower room , old soap left over the door, and dead cockroach!!!!! Pillows was so food smelly !!!! Check in was done in 15-20 minutes, since no enough staff to accommodate. Check out was also 15-20 minutes, the same reason. Unfortunately some managers was roaming around and seeing us waiting , however no action. Hopefully things will be improved
Marriotts are generally of a consistently high standard around the world but this hotel exceeded expectations. It’s established across the bay from the city with its own beach and pool. The gym is of a high standard and the spa is excellent with whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Free to residents (unlike many hotels these days). The restaurants are also of a high standard. We ate in the Steakhouse and Asian restaurant. Both excellent. The only issue was a faulty TV which was fixed immediately. It’s clearly popular with a section of the locals as they congregate here for a pint in their robes! It may be due for renovation, in a city of modernity, but it retains high standards. The staff are absolutely first class. TIPS - let the hotel know of any requirements ahead of arriving (no smoking, early arrival) - Use the metered blue cabs unless you know the rate to your destination as there are plenty of “unofficial” cars cruising the airport, city and hotels. - Go before the heat kicks in. Pre May/June.
I was hoping that me, my wife and our 2 boys can have a good weekend relaxation here but we were disappointed. First, my 10 year old started crying when he enter the room, he anticipated that weekend will be ruined. Old furniture, bad view with construction, below expectation room. They say it is 5 star hotel. Seriously?! :-) The beach is small, narrow with boats parked very close...no one can feel safe here. But the bad part is waiting for you in the morning, during breakfast. The lack of supervision allow the kids of all the nationalities use their hands while selecting fruits, lick the spoon for Nutella and than put it back in the jar and more like that. The waiters are kind but the way it is organized and served is poor. In brief, do not go with the family there for fun but if you want to spend a good night with your partner alone, I guess this is the place.
We had a great two night stay and found our room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. Bathroom is spacious albeit a bit dated with an acrylic bath/showe that could only be described as bouncy however the sbower was good. The pool area is spacious with plenty of comfortable loungers and cabanas for shade. We ate at both the Indian and Asian restaurants both of which were very good. Our only gripe was the food in the pool bar. It took ages for the food to arrive and my BLT salad was just awful and very poor value - lots of lettuce, a few tomatoes and scraps of beef bacon drowned in a vile blue cheese dressing. Shame as the rest of the stay was good. Location is good for the airport, souk and museum of Islamic art.
We chose this hotel as it was one of the closest to the airport, no regrets as it is a fine hotel. The outside area is really good, the pool is a great size, it has great sun-loungers, chairs, and beds covered by a gazebo. We ate at the Indian and Chinese both were excellent, however the View Pool Bar was a real disappointment, slow service and poor food. The rooms are ok getting a little dated but no problem whatsoever.
Very nice hotel with helpful staff. Its close to the airport but only a taxi drive away from the main tourist attraction of the souk. Breakfast had the usual nice variety to meet most needs. It also has a number of good Restaurants but these were all closed during our visit due to essential maintenance. However we enjoyed the street food event which is held every week. It has a nice open foyer with a lovely siting area. It has a private small beach and nice swimming pool. Very nice hotel to stay
The hotel is nice but charge for an airport transfer and arrangements must be made in advance. Breakfast for platinum guests is in in the main restaurant. They have a big spread to choose from. They have an EL that is comfortable. I was given a nice room and a late checkout.
Dear Sir, I am a Marriott platinum member. I stayed in your hotel for one night on March 16 during my transit to Istanbul the next day. My room was 503. It is a connecting room with 504. During my stay, 504 was occupied by a big family. The kids were shouting and running around till almost midnight. In the morning the tv was on loudly with music. I did not enjoy my stay there since the neighbor was like throwing a party. The connecting door was not sound proof, and thus noise was very audible loudly in room 503. I did not complain as I was so tired, and think it was useless. During the check-out, I made my complaint known to the front desk. I have nothing against big family staying in one room, but there has to be standard etiquette to be observed.
It is part of my job as a Travel Marketing Consultant to visit destinations interesting for our product profile. Upcoming corporate and tourist destination Doha has been recently my focus and priority. Doha has always fascinated me and one can’t help falling in love with this destination. I have been in Doha often to see and experience new products. But in every visit I make, I always can’t miss revisiting the Doha Marriott Hotel’s F&B outlets “The View” and “Asia Live”. As a matter of fact, it’s the first stop I make upon my arrival in Doha. Not to try it, but to experience it. The relax and lively atmosphere of “The View” where locals meet foreign guests is unique. Here you can unwind and indeed enjoy the view of Doha’s skyline with some beer and cocktails. Don’t miss the “Happy Hour” with a generous buffet and cocktail offers. Then inside, a selection of food outlets, with “Asia Live” as my absolute favorite. Teppanyaki dining with perhaps, Doha’s best teppanyaki chef who combines great table side cooking and a great show! But there is one common denominator in Doha Marriott’s F&B outlets. It’s absolutely most charming and perfect hostess - Maribel Guarin, who makes it the best reason to come back and enjoy a perfect afternoon, either for an “after work” or a great dinner. Maribel spoils her guests rotten. From the minute she see’s you enter, to the minute you say goodbye. Every time I revisit “The View” or “Asia Live”, my first words are: “Is Maribel around?” And yes, she is. Always with the brightest smile! And your evening is guaranteed a happy and successful one.
