I start this review by stating that I have worked in the field of 4* & 5* hotels for much of my career at a high management level, so would like to think I have a great understanding of running resorts and hotels such as this. At an amazing special offer price, we booked with some hesitation our stay from which we returned just 2 days ago. We need not have been concerned by any of the negative reviews that we had read here though (as we haven't been before), as everything was just brilliant! The whole hotel and grounds were kept fantastically clean, the staff were amazing and our stay was just what we needed. If any skepticism holds you back from booking, then don't allow it. The ONLY possible slight criticism would be that the food could possibly become a little "samey" for a fussy eater. The quantity and quality was excellent. Please don't misunderstand, there was always something great to eat, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, but just occasionally, a little variety in how a dish is cooked would be lovely. I have read here that some felt the staff were not that great ....... rubbish, I can only assume that it was the writers attitude as all the staff were friendly and went that extra mile. In particular, I would like to highlight the barman that we had on the pool bar whilst we visited, Amara. You could have not asked for a better representative for the hotel to be in front of the guests for the whole day. He worked diligently and nothing was ever to much of a problem. Despite sometimes having a crowded bar, no-one waited long to be served and even when he ran out of certain stock, he would quickly replenish his bar and let you know. Hats of to him for really adding to our enjoyment. Secondly, a group that require an additional mention has to be the animations team. They work tirelessly and with few exceptions, really do go out of their way to ensure that all the guests are having a great time. (As an ex, senior manager at Disney, I have a great understanding of this side of entertainment. I would love to have sat down with their manager and compared notes!). The rooms were plenty large enough and facilities adequate for our stay. Personally, I could not get the mini safe to operate, but I am sure that was down to me and as we didn't really need it, I didn't take a second look. It being Tunisia, there was the occasional odour of sewage carried on the wind, but it was gone as quick as it had arrived and one really can't hold the hotel responsible for that, I have worked around the world and it certainly isn't the first time I have encountered this. All in all, we had a fantastic week and are already looking to return next year, but for longer.
The location of the resort is nice... everything is closed by.. the only issue was the attitude of the staff.. you just can feel that the employees are super tired and they are forced to work... no one smiles there which is strange for a 4 stars international brand... need a lot of improvement
The Vincci Resort is one of these huge hotels that cater primarily to organised groups and tours. It is large, impersonal and very average. The rooms are disappointing and cheaply furnished. They have no WiFi; they have no fridge; they have no kettle. There is a safety deposit box in the room but you have to pay to use it. There is a very wide selection of food in the gigantic restaurant but none of it is really good. The outdoor pool area is pleasant. If you are a large family looking for a holiday full of activities planning to spend little time in the hotel, it may be a good fit for you. But if you're going to relax in pleasant surroundings, you'd be better off elsewhere.
Djerba is one of my favourite places and I stayed in many hotels over the past 15 years. The Vincci Djerba Resort is one of my favourite hotels. I stayed here for the first time and didn't read any reviews to form my own opinion later. It was an amazing week! The hotel: a beautiful and well maintained site. The entrance hall and lobby feels grand at first sight but still welcoming and warm. Staff at the reception were very friendly and spoke a variety of languages (I used German, English and French), so I knew I wouldn't have to worry if any issues arise (there weren't any!). The entrance hall is part of the main building which also holds a few bars, the restaurants, a small shop, jeweler, gym and indoors pool and some of the bedrooms. Exiting the main hall, you step out to the terrace and are greeted with a nice view of the pool area, which is quite impressive in its oasis style. I loved the palm trees and beautiful flowers - the gardeners did a wonderful job keeping the green areas stunning. In this area you also find the terrace of the restaurant, the animation hut, an outside stage (summer months), sport areas and a pool bar. The pool was always clean and comes with a less shallow area for the children. Around the pool are several more buildings which house more bedrooms. My bedroom was in one of these buildings and it was impeccable: it came with a big wardrobe, double bed, desk and TV, bathroom with tub with shower, toilet (including the typical hose - this was next to the toilet) and I also had a balcony looking towards the inside of the island. The beach is either a short train ride (train departing from the hotel entrance) or a 5 minute walk away. I opted for the walk. Beware: there are horse carriages waiting outside the hotel which are NOT part of the hotel service and you will have to pay for these separately. The beach is awesome: very clean (looked after), friendly staff, another bar and the hotel beach is situated at the best beach on the island: Sidi Marez. You can book additional activities (jet ski, banana boat, parachute). The only criticism I have is that the lounge covers could do with a replacement. The staff: the staff were always friendly and hospitality is a given. I was a bit worried travelling to Djerba on my own - knowing from previous experiences that as a woman you might have a hard time. But I never felt that any of the staff were going past their boundaries. The waiting staff is very attentive. The cleaners were always friendly and did a great job. Don't forget to tip the staff. A few dinars will make them very happy, the money goes a long way for them and the service will somehow still be improved. The food: nothing to complain. You have a buffet for lunch and dinner and there was plenty of choice. I am a fuzzy eater and found lots to eat every day. Breakfast is a mix of fruit, cereal, yogurts and some veggies, eggs, even sausages. Lunch and dinner always had a mix of fish, meat, vegetarian. Great desserts. The animation team: They were a lovely bunch and made sure everyone was entertained. I would say, this was one of the best teams I have come across on my travels to Djerba. There was plenty of activities and the animation team made a really great effort to engage you. The animation team will walk around the pool and ask you to join - I did a few of the activities and loved that there was always a play off between two teams at midday at the pool just before lunch. There's not a lot of animation by the beach, but there was only one animator who instead encouraged you to try some of the water sport. There is a club dance which you can practise at many occasions. The evening entertainment was always fun: mini disco for the kids followed by dancing before the main event on stage. If you're looking to being entertained, you won't be disappointed. The animation team, I feel, made all the difference to the holiday. Great team with lovely people! Overall, I would return and I can recommend a stay at the Vincci Djerba Resort.
Outstanding from the Animationsteam was Marely Ahmed. He was very charming and helpful and took care of all the guests as well! He upgraded the Team! Mimi, which took care of the kids club, also had been very nice and involved in dealing with the kids.
We visited this place for 7days only..but it was perfect. Place where you can really relax at..Every evening there is a program..Animation team was the best ever! Rooms are clean and tidy, hotel area also. We'd prefer more european food.. if possible.. We will surelly go back:)
since 9 years I go to this same hotel and I have never been disappointed. Super friendly employees (from gardener, barkeeper, receptionists, entertainement team, chefs etc etc). Hotel lobby and rooms have been re-decorated and I always had clean rooms. One of the nicest pool areas in Djerba with a big swimming pool and lots of flowers and plam trees...so easy to relax and enjoy the holidays. The food is fine enough, you can always choose between fish, meat, local food, rice, salads etc. Looking forward to the next holidays.
Unfriendly and unhelpful reception staff, rude and rough, some of them were using bad language thinking that I was not hearing them. There is good choice of food but the quality was very poor. Some of the meals mentioned in the menu at the restaurant entrance were not presented. The fish was not cleaned correctly before grilling. Poor and basic animation. Transport to the beach was very poor. The train was broken down during that period. Coaches were provided but with very limited number and very unfrequent. I got the opportunity to sympathize with most of the staff. They were very kind and helpful. Unfortuntately they were unsatisfied with the Hotel management and the working conditions which need improvement.
Lovely hotel but lots of upset tummies following the all inclusive meals in the restaurant. Not much choice of food, very samey. On the up side there is a pizza place up the road which is lovely and a really good steak house next door! There is a little train to take you to the beach which is a 20 min walk away. Lots of entertainment (especially for children) in the evening and throughout the day. Pool is amazing. Plenty of trips on offer from this resort, I would recommend the pirate ship day trip and casino trip (don't take photos there). The pub crawl is good but it takes you to a lovely beachfront bar on the other side of the island before bringing you back to the steak house next door to the hotel then going 200yds round the corner to the open air night club. Overall a great holiday though!
This was our second visit and our third to this hotel chain. Fantastic time again, food excellent with lots of choice, rooms are lovely with comfortable beds. Staff are great and they can't do enough to help you. We will be going back once available to book.
