Spent 3 nights here, very disappointing. Breakfast was chaotic with not enough seating; room had maintenance issues which were (eventually) sorted but only after 2 attempts; housekeeping hit and miss (beds left with crumpled sheets; on our last day, towels weren't even re-folded onto rail). Room itself was described as a Family room for 2 adults and 2 children (on sofa bed) but, with sofa bed down, it blocks access to the window, tv, 2 power points (leaving only 1 usable one) and unit with hospitality tray and there is then little available floor space for the only chair in the room. The sofa bed itself was extremely uncomfortable, with springs poking through the flimsy mattress. The room doors have very strong automatic closures, so there is constant noise of doors banging shut elsewhere on the floor and our room faced the very noisy main road (sound proofing is inadequate, both from the outside and room-to-room). Requests made to reception not fulfilled and had to be repeated. On a positive note, free wifi was adequate. Overall not a pleasant experience and we won't be returning.

I'm Holiday Inn Expressed regular guest as I'm traveling a lot with my company. I have stayed in many of their hotels but this one is by far the best. Rooms are very clean and tidy. Staff is super friendly and they are trying their best to help you as soon as possible. My favourite thing are carpets. I'm not sure if they have changed them recently or they are maintaining them so well but they feel amazing comparing to any other hotels in these price range. Definitely recommend if anyone is looking for a good value for money but make sure you book in advance as it is much cheaper

I've stayed here many times in recent years on business. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and the location is handy for the Met Office, motorway links and the airport. The hotel is well run and the staff always efficient and polite. A good steak house next door too.

Hotel was very clean but the restaurant was very busy and the floor was messy also very limited food menu we ordered an ice cream (£4.95) and it came in a tub in a dish with a spoon, the park and ride was only 200 metres away which was very handy for Exeter centre and the hotel was well located for getting to other places in Devon, on a more worrying point on allocation of our room the hotel double booked it, so whilst we were in our room some else entered!!, could have been very embarrassing.

My wife and I have been loyal Premier Inn users for many years now. For a trip from the North East to Exeter we looked for somewhere in Doncaster to break our journey but found our two usual Premier Inns either booked or expensive. A Trip Advisor search turned up the Holiday Inn Express in Balby with vacancies at an excellent price. So we not only booked Doncaster but also the Holiday Inn Express in Exeter too. We are converted! Great rooms with WIFI, Air-con and cooked breakfast included. Excellent quiet locations and exceptional staff at both the hotels What's not to like?

Have reviewed this hotel before and was impressed last time hence this visit. A useful stopover very near the M5 and therefore useful for people travelling to the west country. Also quite close to the airport, about a 10 minute drive. The hotel has plentiful parking. While there the hotel was extremely busy, it was the first Saturday of the school summer holidays. Staff were on top of the job and coping well with the influx of visitors. The rooms are tidy, clean and ideal for a stopover for two. Breakfast is included and is a standard lodge type breakfast, nothing special but adequate and once again staff were working the dining area efficiently. Pleased with my choice and a competitive price - they do have competition, there is a Premier Inn next door. Incidentally there is also a Miller and Carter Steak House very close (2 minute walk) and may be useful for evening meals - at a bit of a price!

Did not enjoy my stay here whatsoever, we arrived tea time to get ready, bathroom was filthy in the corners of the floor, room was so basic. Getting to it was horrendous, probably the worst drive I've ever had. As there were 4 of us I let my friend stay in the double with her daughter and me and my daughter took the camp beds. It was, as my 7 year old daughter described, like sleeping on rubble. I tossed and turned all night, had to sleep with the fan on which sounded like it was going to take off at any moment. I would never ever stay here again it was quite possibly THE worst hotel I've stayed in ever and I've stayed in some dives in my time. Book a premier inn - same cost wayyyy better.

Stayed twice during graduation week. The Hotel was very busy but the check in staff were very professional and speedy and with a smile. Much better experience than many high end hotels I have been to. The rooms were fine for a night or so and had everything that was needed. The local cab company was very quick ti arrive so being on the edge of the City wasn't a handicap. Breakfast - despite the room being very full, the staff worked very hard to get everyone a table and fed quickly. The Ritz it isn't, but its a very clean and well run budget hotel.

Get what you pay for. Room clean,Breakfast ok. Nothing exciting. Glad we didn't pay more than £80 or would have felt dissapointed. Staff pleasant and helpful.....quick check in,check out. Ok for a 1 night stay.

The holiday inn express is in a great location in Devon a great springboard to visit surrounding areas. Its clean, very efficiently run, staff are friendly, The great part is it easy too get to and the breakfast i loved, good choice and great tasting. Loved it. Nuf said.
