The staff here are most welcoming and helpful. They let us book in early which was brilliant. We had a disabled room which I have to say lacked a disabled height toilet , when having back problems that is not good. There was a very very good selection of food for breakfast for meat eaters but as a vegetarian I found it lacking in choice. Also some people were using the same spoons for both meat and egg dishes, I was pleased that fresh scrambled egg was brought through and I got some first. However this would not stop me staying there again, it was a busy Saturday !
Great Stay and value for money. Stayed over two nights and excellent staff and very friendly. Couple of restaurants across the road and 2mins taxi ride to town centre. Breakfast was good value and plenty of choice.
The location of the hotel is not in the most pleasant area, surrounded by a lot of retail and industry. Convenient though it is. The hotel itself though is clean, bright and spacious. Check-in/out was a breeze, staff are friendly and courteous. My room had everything I needed and was a welcome site for someone in need of rest. The bed (essential) was comfortable and I was well rested in the morning. The price of the Derby hotel is reasonable and at under £80 for the night, it's better value then many in the area (and other Holiday Express hotel's)
Could have got a hotel closer to Alton towers but stayed at this hotel last year and it was great, staff were great, room fab, used restaurant across the road, breakfast facilities were amazing. Alton towers is 45 mins away but would highly recommend this hotel!
We usually stay in the are when travelling up to Alton Towers and after a recent unpleasant stay in the Premier Inn we decide to try this Holiday Inn Express and were pleasantly surprised. Check in was easy and reception staff were friendly and very helpful, they didn't mind storing something in a freezer overnight for us and were prompt when we requested extra towels. The room was clean and fairly comfortable and thankfully had air conditioning. Sofa bed was a little uncomfortable but I have slept on much worse. Bathroom was compact but no issues, there was a notice saying that complimentary bathroom items could be requested from reception but we didn't need any. The only thing I will say regarding the room is that it is a little on the small side, we were there with two youngish children and it was OK, but can imagine it being a little cramped with older children. The breakfast was surprisingly good. A mixture of hot and cold items and a good selection of hot and cold drinks as well, pretty good considering it is included. Like the fact that the do not mind you taking stuff away as well, in fact they encourage it by providing bags and cups for you to take food and drinks in. There is also a microwave available to use as well if required. Breakfast was quiet when we were there, I think at one point we were the only ones in the breakfast area so couldn't comment on what it is like if it is really busy. Overall this was a good nights stay and we would certainly look at staying again and would recommend to others.
This hotel was ideal for visiting Alton Towers. It was clean, staff were friendly and breakfast was fantastic. The only downside was the size if the room for a family of 4 as I have 2 x teenagers. The sofa bed wasn't really big enough and was a little uncomfortable for them. But overall a nice hotel to stay at and would defo stay there again just book 2 x rooms.
My father and I have not used the Holiday Inn Express chain before. A hassle free, comfortable, clean stay I'm pleased to say! My father is disabled and the disabled access room he was given was excellent...a comfort height toilet would have been a bonus, but not a reason to be disappointed! I was given a twin room adjoining his (inter-connecting door) which was ideal! Breakfast very good! Tea and coffee facilities very good! Cleanliness of our room very good! Plenty of plug sockets. The added bonus compared to Premier Inn was an ironing board and iron provided in our room. Excellent! and free WiFi...excellent again!! I would defiantly recommend this hotel! We go to The Holiday Inn Express at the Albert Dock in Liverpool today to continue our break, so we are looking forward to our stay there as well! Let's hope I can give the same, very good, review there too!
We stayed for one night as we had to attend a family event. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped with modern decor. The staff were friendly and the self-service breakfast was very good. There are a couple of eating places within a minutes walking distance which suited us and the railway station is just a short walk away too! Only problem that we had was finding the location, we do not have satnav and it is tucked away on an 'estate' of other hotels and businesses.
Stayed here with family the night before we went to Alton Towers, arrived about 10pm and got served at reception very quickly. The room was clean and spacious although there was a smell of smoke in there but reported this to the duty manager who rectified the situation. Breakfast was lovely, ample car parking space and built in a nice area of Derby with good road links.
Stayed here on 27/8/17 for the bank holiday, hotel really nice and nice quiet location with harvester pub and chiquito restaurant across the road, hotel was really clean, rooms also very clean and quite spacious, couldn't find 1 fault with the room, the free car parking and free Wi-Fi were a good bonus aswell,if i have to be picky then i thought there wasnt enough selection for breakfast, but that's just my opinion, but on the whole it was a very pleasant stay, cheap price aswell for the time of year, would definitely return again and recommend to anyone.
