The journey to the room from reception was unusual! And definitely not suited to patrons with walking difficulties. 1. Either walk around the outside in all weathers, enjoying the garden views, which meant risking your life as cars sped by, all ignoring the signs asking them to drive at walking pace. Speed bumps should be installed, or larger signs, or similar deterrents to enforce this requirement. 2. or walk along multiple corridors inside, up and down many steps, before again going outside to access the room. The food in the dining room was ok but not good. It was all brown food. Same menu every day. You need to offer 'specials of the day' to ensure some variety. It was very noticeable that the breakfast service items were left out all through the lunch & evening service too, rather than cleared away like the food. Not a good impression, even though you have the room. Tidied away should be the order of the day. There was no offer at any time of help with collecting luggage from the car to deliver to the room. Nor was there an option for assistance when checking out. Not even a trolley in sight. Pleasant helpful staff in general but they all kept saying the hackneyed Americanism “Have a nice day”. This was actually unwelcome when we were off to a family funeral. Storage in our room (112) was poor. There were very few usable drawers, only small ones with no depth at all. I had to move the 2 bibles out of the bedside cabinet in order to put my undies away.

I recently stayed at Breadsall Priory and honestly, the whole place feels tired and in need of proper investment. My room was dated, not cleaned until the last day of my stay, and to make matters worse, there was a mix-up with my key card. On the Saturday I couldn’t access my room, and when I went to reception they argued with me that it wasn’t even my room until I produced ID. Only then did they realise they’d made an error. Service throughout was painfully slow. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but actually getting a table or even just a drink at the bar meant a long wait. The food was very hit and miss — one night my ribeye steak was excellent, the next it was overcooked, had to go back, and by the time the replacement arrived it was still overdone and I’d missed dinner with my group. I also had to send back a starter (whipped feta) which was basically just yoghurt. Some meals were acceptable, but far too inconsistent for what should be a reputable venue. I booked into the spa and had a massage, but this was probably the worst treatment I’ve ever had. The therapist was lovely, but the treatment room was dated, the massage was cut short by around 20 minutes, and the overall quality was really poor. The spa facilities look and feel old, more liek a dr surgery than a relaxing retreat. On the positive side, the golf courses were in good condition and enjoyable to play, but the pro shop experience wasn’t great. I found the lady in there to be rude and unwelcoming, which

Excellant location for our visit. Superb scenary being on 2 golf courses with trees, flowers and a fountain. BUT, you offerred " accessible rooms", meaning wheelchair accessible. The main building didnt have a lift! Steps to the dining room. In another building, our room had extremely low WC, poor shower curtain, wardrobe door stuck and handle missing from a drawer etc. The chicken salad meal had dry chewy chicken.

The reception staff were excellent......welcoming, polite and helpful. Check in was a breeze. The room (in the Mews) was average and smelt of marijuana. Breakfast was poor quality and average at best. The breakfast room was noisy with crying babies and kids blocking the aisles. Not a relaxing experience at all. Coffee was machine coffee, but that was actually ok. A member of the bar staff ignored us as we approached the bar, he was filling up some bottles or something, he looked up, didn't acknowledge us and continued with what he was doing, then he eventually looked up and finally mumbled something - here's a tip buddy........serve your guests first, that's what you're there for. Thankfully a more sensible young lady arrived and served us. We will not be returning I'm afraid.
