Two key issues prompted this review.
First, upon check-in, we were told we needed to pay over $100 extra for my husband because “2 guests” was not selected during booking. This was confusing, as the room was listed as sleeping up to 3, with a stated policy that the base price is for 2 guests. After a long flight, this created unnecessary friction, further compounded by both guests being required to complete a lengthy registration form that included occupational details.
Second, the hotel is adjacent to an event center, and loud wedding music continued until 10:00 PM, making it difficult to sleep. As we were on full-day tours, our primary need was quiet rest. Due to the noise, we politely requested a refund for the 3 of 4 nights, which the on-site manager verbally approved that evening. This approval was reiterated by front desk staff at 6:00 AM the next morning, who advised us it was acceptable to check out and book another hotel and stated the manager would coordinate the refund with Hotels.com. We requested written confirmation and were told the refund would be handled.
That promised follow-through never occurred, despite multiple calls with Hotels.com. As a result, we paid for three nights at UDS Villa and three nights at another hotel. We might have endured the noise knowing a refund wasn’t possible.
