Hotel The Royal Plaza4.0 out of 5.0

Situated in the centre of New Delhi, the Royal Plaza is a multi-storey hotel with poky little rooms. The Venetian style lobby may delight some but it’s just not my cup of tea. The entire theme of the hotel follows a sort of Venetian/Renaissance theme and this one painting (pista green woman lazing on rock perhaps) heading to my room used to scare me daily. The room we got was really small, like a hotel room I had in Tokyo. There is barely any place to keep anything else besides your suitcases. We were part of a group check in that was here on business but the front office had not got the details right so upon calling room service we were immediately told that we would have to pay for the meal we were going to order. The free wifi is a joke and the real one comes at a price. The breakfast buffet is very good and varied but for the number of guests they have, the seating is very limited. Also, table clearance seemed very slow so be prepared to find messy, unmade tables at breakfast. There is nothing great about this hotel nor is there anything really wrong. It’s one of those average places, which you won’t remember unless you looked at your Tripadvisor timeline. Five stars to the travel desk for being super prompt and professional in returning an item that we had forgotten in our room.
Hotel is very very good and at a great location and walking distance to a metro station. This is a little old property, so may not be the latest and greatest dazzling 5 star of 7 star hotel, but as good as many and better than some, of the 5 star hotels in Delhi. I personally got a very good price also through Makemytrip. Also had a wonderful service from Mr. Rahul Sharma, who was gracious enough to take a print outs of my visiting cards, as I had run out of them and I was going to a conference where I needed many. Mr. Rahul Sharma went out of his way to do this, and also made sure that I had my breakfast in absolute peace, while he got the print outs. People iike Rahul Sharma make a difference to your stay..
I stayed for the day here. The checkin was done fast. But the room was very average. The hotel is a old property and the rooms are old. The bathrooms decor is not as per the star rating and very much average. The fitting was rusty. There was a power issue and took some time for the maintenance person to find a solution. The breakfast was good and a good spread. The look and feel of the hotel is oldest. The swimming pool is very small
Female receptionist very unhelpful. Gave us the wrong number room key - refused to believe the room was not made up - expected us to go up and down to 17th floor to try to resolve the problem. Not what you need after a very long journey.
Great hotel even better staff a reteat of serenity in a very congested and busy city. Hotel arranged transfer was very slick with fast track and Limousin waiting at a sepreat exit we conducteted a small break fast meeting. And the staff provided us a set aside area with some privacy. Aman she is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is large and good. Staff is kind. I will come back again very soon.
This hotel has the most attentive staff very comfortable beds and is walking distance from some major sights.the one colleagues that really really stood out is .who checked us into the room at time of check-in.this is prabably my favourite hotel in the world.its uniquely Indian and delhi .it wears its heritage royal beauty there. The pool and location at delhi india gate .but the welcome and service and genuine nature of every single staff member is what makes it extra special. Staff Aman and Sabbauddin both are very help ful during check in.Provide gud room with good garden view . This is stuning hotel and I would recommend it if you are going delhi .I will definitely come again in this Royal plaza delhi .

We spent one night in this hotel which was amazing. We stayed in the old part of the hotel.club suite which is stunning and had breakfast by the royal bistro in the morning. I did yoga by the pool side before eating this is stunning hotel and 8 would recommend it if you are going to delhi .staff is very nice and very helpful Aman she is great for us provided show round first and after provide check in. Check was good Himanshu there he is also nice I highly appropriate to both staff Aman and Himanshu...very hospitable and helpful during our stay. This is definitely one of the best hotels I have stated in will definitely be going back.
A star hotel is not known by its location only It’s the hospitality that matters and there is nothing called hospitality except for guy standing at door! The bathrooms fittings are rustic and old . The room service is terrible and they charge for empty glass. I called reception they transferred to room dining and I was informed empty glasses would be charged 😱. They charge for wifi in today’s world . Unbelievable The only good thing is grand looking lobby.
I feel it is my duty to warn visitors either who have booked or thinking of booking there is MAJOR construction works a few feet away from the pool area next door. This resulted in me complaining twice on a feed back form (as apparently there are no complaint forms) and one ‘got lost’. We travelled 24 hours and planned a rest day around the pool!! No chance, the noise is incredible!! We tried to eat outside that evening and the construction was still on going at 8pm!Extremely disappointed the hotel never for warned us of the construction work as we would have made alternative arrangements .Although most surprising and disappointing of all was the attitude of the numerous staff I discussed this issue with , summing up the general consensus was ‘unlucky’ !! I tried to explain it is the duty of the hotel to ensure the stay at their hotel is enjoyable and this noise simply can’t be shrugged off as ‘ not our contraction so we don’t need to inform You’ but I’m sorry it’s 3 feet away over an 8 foot fence! So if you like relaxing by the pool I strongly advice you seek an alternative hotel.I’ve tried to upload a video of the noise but not sure if it’s worked.
