Pahargange is one of the noisiest, busiest areas in Dehli as it's so close to the main railway station, but as a solo female traveller I have found it very comforting and safe to walk around for that very reason..lots of people, lots of tourists, and the Hotel Ajanta, although really central, had amazingly quiet rooms. I had booked a room with a window, but on arrival (late after 10pm) was given an internal room with no window but I was tired and it was late so I accepted it. However, next morning, even though I'd had a good nights sleep, it did feel a little claustrophobic for me, so I asked for a window room and was happily taken around 3 different rooms and given a choice. I actually decided to upgrade, for not a whole lot more money, to a larger 'suite' with a lovely balcony on the 4th floor as I was going to be there for 4-5 days. It was great. Staff on reception extremely helpful, as were all the other staff. Will definitely use again.

Room was very dirty, dust on floors, dirty bedsheets. Room has no window. No shampoo/ shower gel. Extra charge for drinking water.

We have chosen to stay at the Hotel Ajanta several times over the past many years, sometimes 4 times in one year, because it is always clean and has a restaurant which serves Western-style foods with a good, caring Staff. We use to stay there not only because these reasons but because it was attractive, has a working elevator and the front-desk Staff were courteous, very helpful... Now, the only front-desk staff who remain so are Gunjun and the man who books the taxis. The rest are either incapable, apathetic or absent. Also, though the hotel still remains clean - a credit to it's room staff - in some rooms, as well as the Lobby, it looks like a circus came through with large Elephants, Camels, Tigers attached to chains which they dragged over the floor and banged into the walls and doors. Also, regarding Front Desk Staff, having pre-paid for the night of Nov. 11th, arriving at the unexpected time of 4 a.m.on Nov. 12th, was upset to find that my Superior Room was unavailable, nor was a Suite. They gave me a family room - where the circus must have housed the smaller ponies, dogs, and cats. They promised to move later in that same morning to a Superior room. I pointed out that after a 30+ hour journey I would be deeply asleep! My husband arrived from the mountains, where we live 1/2 the year and they moved us, just prior to his arrival, to a Superior Room...with no AC! What has happened to the amazing Hotel we use to brag about to our friends?!!

Never seen a hotel like this before. No tissue paper, no soap, no shampoo, no slippers, also little bugs n the mattress and pillows. No sleep @ nighr people talking kitchen staffs members making a lot of noises.Overall 0 out of 10. My stay supposed to be a week @ Ajanta Hotel but instead I stayed two nights & left to another hotel and paid another money!!!

Staff was not friendly. Front desk person was not professional.

We were not looking for something fancy yet this did give us a nice and comfortable stay. Its very close to the train station too if you wish.

I stayed in this hotel in November for 4 nights, and my experience was mixed. This hotel is located on a VERY busy road and it is impossible to ignore the noise of blaring horns during the day if you are resting. In the night its okay, staff is friendly but inefficient. Airport pickup is prompt and free. One day I found no towels in the bathroom after housekeeping was done. The safe wont open. Construction debris near my room. The front desk does not pick up phone often and are not prompt in responding. Restaurant food is below average and expensive. Watery scrambled eggs and poha for breakfast is ridiculous. The tours and cab service is pricey but convenient. The problem with booking a tour or taxi from here is that the driver will DEFINITELY make you stop at their preferred shops even if you object. The taxi drives will say they are obligated to stop at shops. I wasted so much time in these shops, and the hotel gets a commission for sure. If you book a taxi to Agra to see Taj..INSIST on taking the Yamuna expressway..will cost your few hundred rupee more in tolls but WORTH not sitting in India's traffic on NH-8. If you can, spend $50/night more and look for a better place. Oh..and the owner please dont bother replying to this in your cookie-cutter form response.

A friend and I stayed here for just our first night in December 2011, our first in India. The rooms are clean but basic, there was no hot water so we had to use a kettle for bucket baths. There was also no wireless, and so much noise at all hours that it was hardly a restful experience. Even at this low price, I now expect more, having been to other establishments (in India) that provide all these and more for less. However, the staff made all the difference here, helping us arrange the rest of our transport and accommodation in Rajasthan, and producing a hired car and a hot takeaway lunch (the best biryani-in-a-bag we've ever had) for a quick jaunt in Delhi. We ended up coming back for another night before leaving Rajasthan. Though its probably not an ideal place for an introduction into India, I would say it is a good place if you plan to be out exploring most of the day and just need a place to store stuff and sleep.

I wasn't too impressed with the Ajanta -- the location was great if you were coming in to the New Delhi train station but otherwise it is a loud and utterly chaotic place. I never had hot water to shower or water pressure to even get fully wet without considerable effort. I would never stay there again.

The Ajanta is located in a hotel row near the New Delhi railway station. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant is clean and safe. Overall it is slightly less spiffy than a mid range American hotel, but comparable to a mid range European hotel. The location is central, an easy taxi rickshaw ride to most attractions, and both much cheaper and more entertaining than the sterile 5 star hotels of Connought Place. An hour after we arrived there was a colorful Lord Krishna parade down the street in front of the hotel. They have helpful travel agents on site who can arrange trips to the Taj and beyond--just say no firmly to the shopping experiences,

Hotel was clean, located in an "interesting place near the New Delhi Railway Station. People the ran the hotel were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was inexpensive and ok. Pick up at the airport was good and on time. You must pay for airport return. Wireless internet in the room cost $2 per day. I recommend this hotel to those the want inexpensive but convienent lodging.

THere was some noise but not while you are asleep the traffic will wake you up about 6am, room/staff was courteous and rooms were well maintained. Railway is within wallking distance as well as the Delhi Metro...the station is New Delhi and all metro pass is 100 Rupye although the hotel's Delhi site seeing prices were not bad there were plenty of local sight seeing booking places so ask around. Overall nice experience and would come again. Can't beat free airport pickup just call and tell them.

The management at Ajanta are educated and open minded people. They genuinely want to make their clients happy. I was there for 3 days but since my bags were misplaced by the airlines; I spend a lot of time at the hotel reception. Good job guys........

I always wanted to see Taj Mahal and finally got the chance to visit India this time. I visited there with my wife and stayed in Hotel Ajanta as suggested by the tourist guide and found it really good! We stayed in Delhi for two days and saw the India Gate, Red fort and many other attractions of the city and did some nice shopping there. As far as our experience with the hotel is concerned i must admit it was simply wonderful. The kind of of attentive, personalize and warm services provided by them are exceptional today. Next time if i visit India i would love to stay there again. They just not provided services within the hotel but also help us for the rest of our trip. Good going guys! All the best!

I liked this hotel. It was my first stay at the hotel and i liked the environment, as the rooms were tidy and food was good. at least it was worth what i paid. Hotel Ajanta was a good choice to stay at. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Hotel is OK, but front desk needs some training and "customer service" understanding... The breakfast buffest borders on horrible

We just got back from a wonderful weekend from Delhi. We like all the aspects of the trip especially the hotel. We stayed at hotel Ajanta and found several nice aspects about this budget hotel, which would like to share in case it is kind of help to someone new to the hotel. The employees were really caring and they attended to our each and every need with utmost devotion. The rooms were big and clean, the services or airport pick was really efficient as well. I strongly recommend the hotel to those looking for timely services at low rates.

This hotel is where I stay during my business visits. It's the best place for a business traveler. It takes care of you from the moment u step into the hotel till u leave. They provide free airport pick ups... you would love to stay in this hotel...

stayed at this hotel and really impressed with their inhouse service. it is very close to raiway station and city centre. free pick up from the airport is plus point if you are travelling first time in india. breakfast at the hotel was so delecious. really come back to stay here

I called up before going there about my pick up service, it was last minute booking but they have managed to send taxi at the airport. Really like the room big and spacious. Restaurant at the hotel provides good and delicious meal. Will be back there on my next trip.
