Serenity Now – Upfitted and Better Than Ever!
Welcome to Serenity Now, a unique and cozy mountain retreat nestled in the private woods just above the picturesque Meadow at Leatherwood Mountains. Under new ownership and upfitted to the MAX, this thoughtfully furnished cabin offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
Inside, you’ll find 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, an open loft-style sleeping area/ office, lightning fast WiFi and plenty of space for your group. A fun kids’ loft nook gives little ones their own hideaway, and a Pack & Play is included for your youngest guests. One upstairs bedroom even has its own private deck overlooking the horse paddock, the perfect perch for morning coffee or peaceful sunsets.
The living area features a cozy woodstove, 2 leather recliners and you’ll love starting your mornings at the deluxe coffee and tea bar. There’s even a built in dog kennel for your 4 legged family! Entertainment is covered with 4 smart TVs throughout the cabin.
Step outside to enjoy: • A brand-new hot tub • Covered and screened-in oversized porch • Gas grill for easy cookouts • Fire pit for evenings under the stars • Axe throwing game for fun with friends • Viewing platform tucked in the woods, overlooking the peaceful mountain meadow
The vast Leatherwood trail system is just steps from your door, ideal for hiking or riding. Horses and dogs are welcome ($75 per pet per visit and $25 per horse per night), and the on-site 2-stall barn with turn-out paddock makes Serenity Now a dream for equestrians.
Whether you’re watching horses pass through the meadow, soaking in the hot tub, or roasting marshmallows by the fire pit, Serenity Now is your perfect escape into the peace and beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Guests traveling with trailers or other long vehicles should be aware that the roads inside Leatherwood are narrow, steep, mountain roads that are not conducive to vehicles or trailers longer than a two horse bumper pull trailer or a goose neck trailer less than 20 feet long. Leatherwood is not responsible for any resulting damage. Serenity Now is located on a narrow, one way road. There is sufficient room for a 2 horse trailer, but nothing longer. Ride directly from this great new rental property onto the Leatherwood Mountains trail system and return to the onsite 2 stall barn.

Owner’s note on bringing horses to Serenity Now:
Serenity Now accommodates up to four horses with flexible options: • Use the paddock for all four horses, or split between two in stalls and two in the paddock (rotation allowed). • Please handle all horse unloading and setup during daylight hours. • Please handle all horse unloading at top of driveway and trailer parking area, do not pull trailer down the rest of the drive way.
Trailer Access Options: • Option 1: Two bumper-pull trailers with two horses each — use Holleridge Road, unload at the top of the driveway, and walk horses 100 ft to the barn. One trailer parks at the driveway entrance, the other at your designated area. • Option 2: One trailer with four horses — stop at the Meadow/Holleridge intersection, walk horses up to the barn, make a three-point turn, and park at your trailer area. • Option 3: Park at Leatherwood’s main barn and ride 1.5 miles up to the cabin. • Option 4: Keep two horses at the cabin and board the other two at the main barn at Leatherwood Mountains Equine Facility, a level one-mile ride away.

The house was beautiful and packed with extra stuff that sometimes you forget to pack when you go on a trip we enjoyed our stay, the area was beautiful. The view was breathtaking. The only downside it was the signs on the road going up to the house. It was very easy to make a mistake and go on the wrong way up to the house and if a car was coming towards you, there was no way to back off because the road was so narrow. Also they should add more info about the road being so narrow if we had rented a cargo van like we wanted it would have been very difficult to drive on that narrow curved road to get to the house. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay very much.
We loved staying here! The cabin is beautiful and cozy; loved the morning sunlight coming into the living room! We loved the wood burning stove and firewood is provided. The view from the screened-in porch is so pretty, and you can hear creek below. It was very quiet and peaceful, yet you can drive about 12 minutes down to the visitor's center for things to do. Schedule any pony rides or trail rides in advance of your trip as they book very quickly - we missed this! We walked through the horse barns (horses were out on trails or the pasture during the day) and our daughter loved petting the barn cats. You can drive to the Daniel Boone Trail-head on the property and hike - it is a pretty hike through the forest (also a horse riding trail). You can get a map from the visitor center.
Consider bringing your flip flops for walking down to the lower deck for the hot tub. At the time of our stay, they did provide nice beach towels to use! I also appreciate the heavy curtains in the bedrooms for sleeping in. :-)
A few minor issues that we had, but would not deter us from staying again:
Check the bed sheets when you arrive - one set was not washed. One of your check-out tasks is to take the sheets off of the beds you used, and this was not complete for one of ours. If you need a cutting board during your stay, maybe bring one, as I couldn't find one (even though pictured).
Upstairs bathtub had soap scum (very easy to clean but yucky for my young daughter to take a bath), water is a little rusty in just the tub/shower, and the drain is slow. (The shower downstairs is good!) Cabin could use a deep clean for dust under beds/furniture, light fixtures, etc., otherwise everything else very clean! We really enjoyed our stay at Bennett's!
