Great location right on Flagler Ave easy walk to beach and restaurants. Rooms are very comfortable, pool is nice staff is friendly and helpful. Only suggestion is the bikes could use some major tune ups or replacements.
My husband and I stayed at the Riverview Hotel over the weekend. We entered through the lobby which is truly gorgeous and we were greeted quickly with a smile. We arrived before lunch so our room was not ready yet. This was not a problem at all. We went across the street to have lunch and walked up on Flagler Ave to check out the beach. When we came back, Dennis had already brought our luggages in our room. It was a really nice gesture on his part. We had nicely appointed room with a small sitting area and a beautiful bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and soft. After settling in, we decided to enjoy the pool. The pool was clean but small. It did have private little cabanas which truly was a nice feature. The pool got crowded really fast with 11 people in it, but that did not bother us as we were still able to relax. We would have enjoyed a hot tub, but there is none. Then we enjoyed the 5pm wine and cheese reception which featured white and red wines, cheese, crackers, peanuts and homemade chocolate chip cookies for those with a sweet tooth. :) We woke up the next day to have a continental breakfast served to our bedroom. The day we arrived, we filled out a breakfast menu which consists of hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, fruit parfait, muffin, coffee and orange juice with a little end note of 'limit to 4-items only'. For the price of this hotel, we were expecting a TRUE continental breakfast with cooked eggs, scones etc. but that is NOT what we got. This was a true disappointment and we feel that the hotel is misrepresenting itself online when it mentions its 'continental breakfast'. Instead, the Riverview Hotel may want to educate their patrons about breakfast being a light fare. After breakfast, we checked-out of the hotel to go to the beach. The hotel kindly kept one of our bags in a private room for us until we got back from the beach. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay, but we were disappointed with breakfast. I cannot speak of the spa that is on site since we did not use it. We did go to dinner at the Riverview Grill where we enjoyed music on the patio and a beautiful sunset. The food was ok but not over the moon great. We may be back in the future to enjoy an afternoon at the spa.
Booked in early June for our wedding anniversary on July 14th. Have dined there in the past and always wanted to stay there but realized the week before that our circumstances have changed and we needed to cancel. Called on Saturday for Friday stay and was informed we had to cancel the day before or we will be charged first night. So my husband said of course we are not going to pay and not come so will have to figure out. The person we talked to said they could not handle and would have manager call us back. We have yet to receive a call so perhaps they will read this and respond to us. What we did receive was an email telling us of the cancellation and the $257.63. Have left two messages since receiving that with no response. Of course we will use the room, ourselves or as a gift but we have no intention of paying for a room and not using it. We specifically told them that on the phone yesterday and with two messages today. Not off to a great start for our romantic anniversary stay. Hope to hear from them soon so we know the resolution.
Perfect getaway. Warm, accommodating staff. Wonderful breakfast and items available in lobby. Well appointed rooms. Felt like a boutique European hotel. Attention to details everywhere. Spa resort like pool, relaxing. Completed my husbands and my getaway! Will visit again. Rooms 101,103,105 have poolside patios.
The lobby and exterior are lovely, but our "river view" is actually of the roof of the restaurant. The bed is comfortable, but the room is tiny and bathroom very basic. In the absence of the view, the higher price of this hotel isn't justified.
There are some lovely elements and nice touches to this hotel, however given the price we paid to stay here I can't give it anymore than a 3 star. I was really disappointed as the exterior of the property is beautiful, as is the lobby area. The pool area is also well maintained and extremely relaxing. The rooms from afar look charming but up close they are in need of some proper love and attention, everything is a bit tired and needs a refresh. The same could be said for the upstairs hallways. I will say however the bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets beautifully soft. It was also nice to have his and her robes so we could eat our breakfast on the balcony. It's a shame the breakfast wasn't very enjoyable, the only thing worth eating was the blueberry muffin and I am not in any way shape or form picky with my food. The location is brilliant and there are some really great restaurants nearby but we won't be returning. Shame.
This is a boutique hotel and very charming! This was the last stop on an extended birthday weekend celebration . Since we checked in on Sunday night, we got an amazing room! There was a living room, separate bedroom and a wrap around porch/balcony accessible from both. All very nicely furnished and complete with his and her robes. You could have had a small party on the balcony.....really big. Nice view of the inter-coastal. We had drinks on the balcony and watched the drawbridge...very relaxing. Then dinner at their restaurant which was divine! The hotel has loaner bikes and the beach and beach retail area is in easy pedaling distance. There is also a spa on-site but we didn't use it, maybe next time. Will be back again!
My husband and I have family in New Smyrna Beach and have visited there often for many years. On our last trip, we decided to try the Riverview Hotel. We appreciate the history of older properties, and prefer B&B's with character over modern hotel chains. So, for $230 a night I booked room #212, described on the web site as a "Premium guest room overlooking the Indian River". I have attached photos of the room, its bathroom and its view. The room and bathroom are very small, which can be expected in an older hotel. The only closet hanging space is taken up by an ironing board. The shower temperature was always unpredictable -- it would drop to lukewarm or jump to scalding without warning. Our room's view was mainly the front entrance and roof of the neighboring restaurant. On the plus side, we enjoyed breakfast delivered to our room each morning, the employees were usually pleasant, and the location of the hotel allows you to walk to restaurants, bars or the beach. The Riverview is a landmark of New Smyrna Beach and Flagler Avenue. It is unique and memorable. I wanted to write a review that was accurate and objective, and provide photos from the guest's perspective. Overall, I think if you go in knowing what to expect, you will enjoy this historic hotel.
Such a special gem in New Smyrna. You cannot beat the ambiance and the river view. They really go out of their way here to make you feel special. Allie the bartender is one of those exceptional people that ties the whole experience together with her warm welcome and positive attitude. The scallop marsala is awesome. Also chef Max made a special dish for us the last time we were there that was out of this world. Definitely put this place on your list if your in New Smyrna.
This is a small, family run place and has some charm. Also, the location on the water is attractive and the nearby drawbridge is a novelty. There's an adjoining bar and restaurant right on the water which seems popular. We only had a drink so can't comment on the food. At the hotel, the beds were super comfortable but that's about the only upside about the room. Otherwise, it was old and poorly decorated and the bathroom was ancient. The biggest downside of the rooms though were the paper thin walls and ill-fitting doors which meant that the smallest noise from the hallway or nearby rooms could be heard. We were unfortunate in that there was an incredibly noisy group who sat on the shared (with our room) balcony screaming with laughter for hours. It was the afternoon so not as bad as it could have been but not at all relaxing. On the upside, the pool area is very pleasant. Overall I think the hotel is overpriced. I would have expected more for the money.
