Amazing place, beautiful views, the entire place was well stocked, comfortable beds, incredibly cozy. Can't wait to stay here again! The owners went above and beyond during my stay, including shoveling walkways and snowblowing the driveway after it unexpectedly snowed. If you're considering somewhere to stay around Blackwater Falls, book this place and don't look back!

We had a great time. The host js a perfect rental host. The entire property had little things to do and future plans. We didnt have enough time to enjoy the entire house. We will be back for the fire pit, picnic table and frisbee golf. We never turned the tv on. Lol The inside was clean, ton of historic local information, beautiful snow picture and others, tons of signs to easily navigate, every thing we ever needed. We had hot chocolate with so many options to add to tea, oatmeal or coffee. The host thought out the entirety of the house. There was so many useful things that we didnt even get to use. Pretty much any need during a stay, it was there. Stock was no issue. The rooms were clean, bathrooms stock, neighbors quiet. This was an unforgettable rental, we will be back to enjoy that view even more. The only warning is the turn on the Cortland is VERY sharp. You want to slow down to a crawl and dont take the turn too wide.

Biked on trails, Blackwater falls was breathtaking. Hiking and just sitting around the fire pit enjoying nature and all the fall colors. Hope to return next fall.

Tom and Lizz went out of their way to make our stay in Canaan Valley exceptionally pleasant, comfortable, and memorable in their peaceful and ideally situated rental cabin. It was the best VRBO property we've ever stayed in, with clear and seamless communication throughout and everything we could possibly need provided for us, including complementary firewood. We look forward to staying there again in the future! Many thanks, Tom and Lizz (and Daisy)!

Absolutely breathtaking view and property set up. Everything in the house was clean and cozy. We made ourselves right at home, grilled dinner, had morning coffee and did some fresh air yoga on the porch. Our Dogs loved scoping out the smells and sleeping in the sun on the porch and we all enjoyed a firepit under the super bright stars on a perfect night. Blackwater Falls was nearby for the humans and dogs to get some steps in and scenic falls for photos. Lizz was very accessible and friendly with information. Can't wait to comeBack agin! Highly recommend.

The stay was amazing! We have rented several places over the years and this one was by far the most well stocked with kitchen, cleaning and linen supplies. They had tons of dishes, silverware, pots and pans. They had a coffee/oatmeal/hot chocolate station on each floor complete with coffee, teas, sugar, oatmeal packets, hot chocolate, and marshmallows. The owners not only "allow" for dogs but they had dog beds in every room, bowls, dog leashes, and dog TREATS! The beds and pillows were so comfy, and each room had flashlights (just in case). Loved the cards, games, puzzles and books for the down time. Given we have 5 adults visiting, the house was very sound proof which was helpful. The fire pit was great to sit around both day and night given it was surrounded by wildflowers to look for butterflies and humming birds. The home owners were amazing! They checked in on us via text to make sure we settled in ok. We even saw them in the neighborhood and town while we were out and about and had great conversations. They gave some good recommendations for places to eat and visit too. This is definitely highly recommended and we already shared the info with friends!

Surrounded by Nature
This property is a sight to see! It’s located just far enough away from downtown Davis to feel remote yet it was also convenient for daily outings. Our summer stay was rich with wildflowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds zooming around the yard. The mountain views from any window and the upstairs balcony were stunning. The inside of the house was furnished with charging stations, nightlights, reading materials, wildlife information, emergency instructions, dozens of towels, blankets, dog treats, leashes, and safety vests for dogs. The list of conveniences and accommodations are too numerous to name them all! Fear not, if you forgot something, Lizz has probably remembered it for you. She and her husband live nearby and will gladly offer tips and share their knowledge of the area. We would stay here again and again.

Amazing home, location, hosts, and view
Three generations of my family spent a week here. We travel a lot and this home is the absolute best rental we have had. The hosts have gone above and beyond providing anything you can think of while away from home. Little touches that make the stay feel like home, such as: hot cocoa & marshmallows, coffee, assortment of teas, electric kettle, coffee maker, spices, cooking oils, every kind of tool to easily prepare meals at the house, bath products, plenty of towels, washcloths, and extra blankets. Also, thermostats in each room, power strips with USBs in every room, plenty of local newspapers and magazines, comfortable beds and furniture, and great outdoor seating too! We loved using the fire pit and not only is there wood, but fire starter too. Honestly, I cannot say enough good about this property. The views are amazing. There is so much privacy while being about 10 minutes to shops, grocery store, restaurants, and cafes. And lastly, the landscaping, flowers, and bird feeders were incredible. Absolutely lovely! We are already setting up dates to return in the fall. Attached are pictures of sights local to the property.

Perfect house in Canaan
This house was perfect for our family. We had everything we needed and more. The communication was excellent. The host had everything available to use during our stay, even nice toilet paper and paper towels. The house was clean and dog friendly. There were dogs toys and towels to wipe their feet. There is a nice table to play games at and eat our meals with a beautiful view. This is a beautiful property and it’s minutes away from restaurants . Our family liked this house so much we will be back. The host even checked on us when the power flickered during a blizzard. We were fine but so nice to have hosts that care about your stay. The driveway was even plowed for us. Our stay was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this house.

We had the best time! It’s obvious that the hosts take great care in the it property and pay attention to the details. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. There were tons of blankets and towels. The flannel sheets were the perfect touch. It was great to have upgraded appliances to work with. We travel a ton and this was one of the most well-stocked homes we have stayed in. Communication before and after was great! We loved the firepit and the beautiful night sky. The property was easy to find and the EV chargers were a lifesaver. We will absolutely stay again. Lovely stay in winter wonderland
This home was everything we were expecting, and more! It’s conveniently located within a few miles of the ski slopes and Davis, which was perfect for our family ski weekend. We received a foot of snow during our stay, making for a winter wonderland. Still, the driveway and roads were sufficiently plowed and drivable. The house was very well equipped with everything we could’ve needed, with easy to follow instructions and thoughtful notes. Our host, Lizz, was the best! Upon arrival, we had some confusion about how to get into the house, and she was immediately available to help us - even at 9pm. She was proactively communicative throughout our stay, providing tips and advice. She also graciously offered us a checkout as late as we needed on Sunday after the snowstorm to allow conditions to clear. She even mailed us (at her expense) a few things we left behind.Such a lovely weekend and an incredible host! We’ll definitely be back!

Perfect Mountain Escape
It was everything we hoped for and more! Nestled in the heart of the mountains, it offered the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. The views were absolutely breathtaking—waking up to the snow covered mountain peaks and sitting coffee on the couch was lovely. The home was spotless and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. We loved relaxing by the fireplace in the evenings. It’s clear that the owners have put a lot of care into making this a true retreat. The location was ideal—close enough to outdoor adventures like hiking and skiing, but secluded enough to feel like we had the whole mountain to ourselves. We left feeling recharged and already planning our next visit. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with all the comforts of home (and then some), this place is it. Highly recommend!

Our family of five humans and one dog spent a fantastic four nights here. From the listing, to the communication, to every aspect of the space itself, it is clear that the owners have the guests’ care, safety, and well-being at top of mind. Everything we needed or wanted was always right at hand, exactly where we would have put it ourselves. A very comfortable, relaxing, and stress-free stay.
