"The Old Butchers" is a little bit of heaven in Devon. Perfectly appointed in every way, this stylish loft style studio is the ideal getaway to relax & rejuvenate or explore the beautiful beaches and countryside of the South Hams. It is a private, self-contained space Complete with shower room, wc & sink. Kitchenette: Fridge, microwave, Nespresso machine, kettle & toaster. WIF & Smart TV, & outside terrace with sea glimpes. There is a small sofa/ sofabed (not suitable for adults to sleep on).
The space "The Old Butchers" is a luxurious 'New York style' studio for two and offers couples a fabulous spot for their next romantic retreat to the beautiful South Hams in South Devon. Situated in the charming village of Stoke Fleming, close to Dartmouth, the beautiful town situated on the banks of the picturesque River Dart, it's the perfect year round destination for a short break or holiday. It is also only a 15 minute walk to the award winning Blackpool Sands Beach.
Inside, the decor is striking, the former village butchers has retained its original tiles and hanging rails, & these touches give the property its industrial feel, whilst stunning soft furnishings, an open plan living space with large patio doors, & stylish accessories, ensure you have all you need for a fantastic stay.
The sitting area has a comfortable 2-seater velvet sofa & footstool, a Smart TV so you can enjoy your favourite movies & shows whenever you want, board games, and a Smart Speaker There is a chess set & a backgammon set to keep you entertained during your stay, as well as Scrabble & Monopoly, Dominoes & playing cards, and there's even a selection of guide books and novels on offer.
The sleeping area is a comfortable, cosy loft standard 4ft 6in double bed, but it is closed in, with the ceiling directly above, so if you're claustrophobic or very tall, it is maybe not for you! It's also up a steep flight of wooden steps so you also need to be a bit agile!
Guests are also spoiled with a luxury shower room with rain shower, fluffy towels & complimentary toiletries.
When it comes to eating there is a compact kitchenette with all the essentials, a fridge, microwave, sink, toaster, kettle & nespresso machine, with complimentary tea & coffee so you can make yourself breakfast in the morning before heading out for the day, or microwave a meal or two in the evenings. (Please note there is no oven or hob).
We highly recommend you eat out at one (or all!) of the 3 wonderful venues in the village! The Green Dragon Traditional Devon Pub, Trattoria Spaggia Bar & Restaurant, & family run Stoke Lodge Hotel all of which serve delicious food & are all just minutes walk from The Old Butchers. Or wander down the hill (15 mins) to beautiful Blackpool Sands where there is a lovely restaurant, cafe & takeaway too!
Guests can also bring their canine companions with them for their stay. Please note that we ask that dogs are not left alone in the studio at any time, & that they are not allowed on the sofa or up in the bed area.
The Old Butchers is a great base from which to explore this picturesque part of the country. Keen walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers and outdoor enthusiasts will love its location right on the SouthWest Coastpath. As they say, Devon really is Heaven!
