my husband and i had to stay at this Inn while visiting my nephew and his wife. They have a cat and thus could not stay at their home. We were absolutely thrilled with this Inn. It was exceptionally clean, perfect for two nights, the Inn keepers were so kind and pleasant as well as accommodating. We will not hesitate to stay again when we visit the area. If you are traveling and have to stay in the area do not hesitate. It was truly lovely. Irene and Bill
I had a MOST WONDERFUL stay at the Homestead Inn, New Milford, Ct. I had actually stayed there over 15 years ago, before renovations, but this recent experience was better than EXCELLENT! The room and bathroom were absolutely spotless! I have traveled to New England for 'leaf peeping' season and stayed at BnB's for over 40 years and this one takes the cake for cleanliness, friendliness etc! Clean, beautifully decorated, friendly management, excellent breakfast. . .What more could I ask for! Oh yes, excellent price especially considering all the amenities! And, located within a 2 minute walk from the largest Town Green in New England, as well as specialty stores and unique restaurants. Natasha, who managed. cooked, and cleaned, made it all work seamlessly! A MOST EXCELLENT ADVENTURE!
This Bed and Breakfast is located but a few blocks from the historic district of New Milford. On a nice day, this walk into town is gorgeous. New Milford dates back to the early 1700’s. The Inn, which dates back to 1928, is actually divided into two parts. The main house is where the historic rooms are located with such occupants as Marilyn Monroe, Joe Kennedy and the Dirty Jobs actor, Mike Rowe, once stayed. We actually walked into the “Kennedy Room,” which is located on the first floor of the main house. The room is absolutely splendid. Other rooms are upstairs, but the host is more than willing to carry your bags up these stairs. My wife secured reservations through a third party. Our room, #4, was located in the Treadwell Annex. We were on the corner of two minor roads and the hospital close by. Ironically, we did not hear any noises from either area. The Treadwell Annex was once a famous restaurant, now remolded into rooms. It is the “budget” area of the Inn. I thought the room, even though small, was indeed comfortable, my wife, not so much. The sink is separated from the bathroom area and is located in the main room. My wife does not like that type of set-up. Secondly, it was advertised that “coffee was in the room.” It is not. The room does have carpet and to keep it clean, the owners left out the coffee pot. There are 24/7 coffee and free sodas in the main house. You do have to walk outside to get to the main house. I thought the bed was comfortable. I loved the jar of “Hershey Kisses.” Breakfast was left out of our reservation. For about $15 dollars each, we could have splurged for that early meal. What we saw and heard; people were more than satisfied with the breakfast. If we had to do it over again, I would make the reservation through their web-site and include breakfast. I would also splurge and get a room in the main house—particularly a larger room. My wife rated the experience a “two”; myself a “four”—thus three stars is given. I do hope we get to make it back to Homestead Inn. My wife, not so much. If you found this review “helpful” in any way, please press “LIKE” to let me know.
My wife and I stayed in the Marilyn Monroe room, which she is known to have used. This is one of their premium rooms. The B & B is run by the charming Natasha, who is very keen for you to enjoy your stay. The building is a delightfully renovated 19th century property within walking distance of the town, where we ate at a tapas place, twice. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with a beautifully presented table, and cloth napkins. We observed a groundhog scurrying round, and he's nicknamed Pete. Apologies if this sounds sponsored, but we loved our stay. The area is brilliant for driving around, we saw covered bridges, wild turkeys (novel for a Brit) and lovely scenery.
This was a business trip that my wife accompanied me on. The Homestead Inn was recommended. This was a first time stay in a B&B and it will not be our last. The Homestead Inn was a beautiful place. It was very clean and well appointed. The décor, while keeping with the period of the house, was updated to modern standards; best of both worlds. Conveniently located near interesting shops. The innkeeper, Natasha Melichar was a wonderful hostess. A charming person and she made sure we were well taken care of. Our 2-day stay could not have been better.
We stayed in the annex building which was nicely updated and offered plenty of space and even a second bedroom with bunk beds that would be perfect for kids. The main house was charming with a farmhouse style and had coffee, tea, waters, sodas available at any time. It's located close to downtown so it's an easy walk to restaurants and bars too. Overall a great experience and stay.
Hello, We have stayed at the Homestead Inn several times and each time is great. This was my first time in the Annex and I personally loved it. Nice bed, clean, and very quiet. Natasha is a fabulous host. We will be back!!!
The room was comfortable and clean (Treadwell Annex #5). The bed was large and comfortable, the shower was great, and the desk was nice. It was easy to walk to several nearby restaurants. We also ate breakfast at the Inn one morning and it was very good. The only downside is that there is a hospital next door, so I did wake up briefly one night to the sound of an ambulance. My partner was bothered a bit by road noise in general (the particular room is the closest to the street of all the rooms in the Inn).
Excellent stay in one of the cozy cottage rooms on the grounds of the main Inn. Very comfortable and clean room. Well managed inn. Nice touches with 24/7 coffee, tea, sodas, corkscrews. Right next to village green.
We booked two rooms at the same time to stay at the Homestead on our road trip around the area. On arrival we were told one couple had a “ superior “ room, the Newton in the main house with breakfast included , and one couple in an annexe room without. This surprised us, but nothing prepared us for the shock of the Newton room we were shown... It was TINY and I mean TINY!!!!! There was no dressing table No chair No where to sit No mirror The bed was small It was almost impossible to walk around the bed without banging into the bed base. The basin and shower were in this tiny room at the foot of the bed, the tv on the wall doubling as a mirror!!!! As for the toilet, it was in a tiny tiny cupboard in the room. Absolutely no privacy at all. My knees touched the wall as I sat on the loo🤪 I was so upset...... it bore no resemblance to the pictures posted online describing this inn. The room next door to us was completely empty, overnight and the next morning, but despite offering to pay for the upgrade we were refused, being told it was reserved!!!!!! Neither of us slept in the small claustraphobic room. We declined the breakfast, unfair on our companions who were not booked in, and left ASAP. Apparently only guests in the main house are offered breakfast. We have travelled extensively all over the world, staying in a vast array of accommodations and NEVER have been so disappointed or upset by the intransigent attitude of the staff member on duty. It was clear she knew we were unhappy, and when we left did not acknowledge our goodbye , only that of our friends. I must add their annexe room was spacious and stylish and cheaper!!!! If you book this place check out the rooms and avoid the Newton room. It’s for a single traveller only. The experience ruined our time there, thankfully we d only booked the one night!
