Spectacular estate seclusion with ocean views near Zoni Beach/AC/Wifi/Sat TV

Quiet, peaceful, and somewhat secluded, yet only a 3 minute drive to Zoni Beach and a 10 minute drive (4 miles) to town, our fully-equipped 2 bedroom (new queen beds and A/C in each bedroom) second floor flat is a wonderful retreat from the hustle of noisy in-town locations. The large couch pictured in the living room re-configures and fits together to make a double bed which is more comfortable than a convertible sofa bed. Fully equipped kitchen. Because of the unique isolated design with separate entrances and parking areas, you will soon forget that there is a similar unit on the first floor below you. We offer an open floor plan, high ceilings, a comfortable living room with wireless internet, Sat flat panel 32" TV, and wall to wall glass patio doors leading to a balcony with outdoor furniture with great ocean and mountain views on one acre. There are only a few houses in view, and virtually no noise.

The house is located in the exclusive Zoni Beach (eastern) side of the island, surrounded by thousands of acres of virgin countryside and hiking trails, with an ocean view. Nearby Zoni Beach is incredible... and uncrowded: many times during the week we are the only ones on a one mile long soft white sand beach with gentle trade winds swaying green coco palms, and crystal clear turquoise waters. The snorkeling and diving on Culebra is some of the best in the Caribbean: colorful and pristine. Leatherback turtles nest on the beaches. Try a day trip to Culebrita, or any other of the 10 smaller keys surrounding Culebra. You can also rent our Mitsubishi Montero mid-sized 4x4 for $75/day 7 day minimum ($100 refundable gas deposit required on vehicle, credit cards only - no debit cards. For debit card use on lodging a $50 fully refundable damage deposit is required, to be charged 10 days prior to occupancy). Our vehicle and house manager Wilma will pick you up and/or drop you off at the ferry or airport when you rent the Montero each day of your stay, and is available for consultation and in case of emergencies. There is a $15/day/guest fee for over 1 guest automatically included in the pricing. PLEASE NOTE: There are three units available to rent on the property. Location convenient to Playa Zoni, which is a breathtaking and not crowded beach that usually has calm ocean waters. Important to have a vehicle to make it to town for errands. Beds comfie and views great.

Wonderful once again

I have rented this house a number of times for overflow from our house. We have always been extremely happy with this sweet place. It is very clean, nicely furnished and our guests have always been happy with their stay. I see many more time that we will rent in the future!

Beautiful property neglected

Zoni breezes upper This VRBO is like a roommate you have in college. You really like them but they leave their clothes around everywhere and it’s a constant mess. In the end, do you like them enough to put up with they’re messing us? Full disclosure: there is a clause in the renters agreement that states that reviews with disparaging (meant to belittle) remarks could result in a 500 charge against your credit card. I recommend a careful review of your rental agreement prior to closing the deal. Special attention should be paid to paragraphs 4 (here may not be a “manager“ ) six, and 12 of the rental rules. We had agreed to rent one of the cars belong to the property. Our visit began when we called the gentleman who was supposed to pick us up in the airport in the Toyota Highlander. He informed us that the car was not available and would not be available for several days. He suggested we check in with Carlos’s Jeep rentals near the airport. We were fortunate to be able to find a Jeep to rent. We later found out that we were not The only renters in the same predicament. The people who are staying in Zoni breezes lore also had to scramble for a Jeep and a family from Puerto Rico also staying at Zonie for a weekend to celebrate her birthday and the same thing happened. But they were unable to rent anything since they arrived on a Saturday morning. The only breezes is too far from anything not to have transportation. The Highlander which we eventually had access to made a very peculiar loud rattling noise suggesting that the power steering was circling the drain. I am certainly no mechanic a no judge of junkers but I had the distinct impression that if we all could come off at any minute. I was worried about getting a flat. The roads are very rough. There is no AAA on the island. So I checked and was relieved to see that there was an inflated spare . On the down side, there was no car jack. But, no worries, no flats for us. Regarding the apartment: Zoni breezes upper is bright and well ventilated (with the exception of the bathroom). With doors and windows open we never had to use air conditioning. Other problems include opening the lock on the door, a television with no directions, a nonexistent manager on the island, not well cleaned up, no dish towels, only one beach chair, window cranks broken. This could be a five star review but the place seems to be neglected. A little TLC would put it right.

CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE

A CAR IS A MUST. IT WAS GOOD THE OPTION OF RENTING THE CAR TO THE OWNER BUT IT IS A LITTLE BIT EXPENSIVE FOR THE CONDITION OF THE CAR. THE AIR CONDITIONERS WORKS PERFECT. IT IS FAR FROM TOWN. IT SHOULD HAVE BETTER KITCHEN WARE (THERE WERE ONLY TWO GLASSES).

Zoni Breezes and Retreat Upper & Lower

Isolated property. Main gate is broken so every morning had to deal with wild horses. Lack of security because sliding doors open easily. AC's don't work efficiently. Smelly and dirt furnitures. The worst, a rat🐀 in the lower property ate our counter food. Brenda, the housekeeping, told us to put a rat trap but it was never caught. Bees infestation outside property. Problems everyday with the Lower's balcony curtain. Overall needs improvement.

Would stay here again

We loved our week here. The place is aptly named because the breeze was almost constant and the view was lovely. I spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the breeze, the view, the sounds of the birds in the day and the crickets and frogs at night. We loved snorkeling at Melones beach the most. We saw lots of pretty fish, coral and a sea turtle :) The house itself was nice, it was clean and the beds were not uncomfortable. Amenities were fairly basic with 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 forks, 4 cups and so on. Pretty limited pots and pan (singular). No spices like salt and pepper or essentials like foil, paper towels or bags, so you’ll need to buy that stuff. Our stay was during the Covid pandemic (12/27/20-1/2/21) so it’s possible that they just weren’t busy enough to keep stuff like that in the house. Either way I wouldn’t let that stop me from staying here again. The home owners were nice enough to check on us via text to make sure everything was okay and the SUV we rented through them was cheaper than renting a Jeep.

Great Culebra Escape

Zoni Breezes Upper was a great stay for two couples enjoying the quiet/remote end of Culebra. The view and breezes did not disappoint. Surrounded by farms, there are a lot of roosters, so bring ear plugs or download a white noise app if you want to sleep with the windows open and the breeze blowing through. Tom was easy to communicate with. Property could use a little TLC but I’m sure Tom will address the (minor) issues and overall it was a great value and home base for enjoying zoni beach.

Peaceful in Zoni

Quiet and peaceful house in Zoni. Especially enjoyed the dark sky at night and all the stars. The ‘Retreat’ property itself is spacious and well laid out to accommodate a family or group. Furnishings and decor are eclectic and comfortable. Sofa is new. The rest is a bit dated though functional. All the appliances and dishware you need are provided but no groceries- not even salt and pepper- so if you plan to cook at all be sure to bring everything. Ceiling fans in every room and window a/c units keep the space cool. Excellent water pressure in the shower! Small soaps and shampoos provided. Washer/dryer work well and convenient to have on-site.

Lovely view on Culebra

Zoni Breeze Upper was a lovely place to stay while we were in Culebra. The apartment is part of a two unit building that sits to the top of a hill. On the same property at the bottom of the hill is a separate unit. Both of the other couples staying on the property were friendly, helpful and quiet. They were good neighbors, but I'd be weary if the tenants of the lower unit were loud or boisterous. It would be hard to escape them, but we didn't have that problem at all. Our unit was the upper unit, which included two bedrooms, one bath and a small, open-concept, kitchen/dining/living area. There was a nice covered porch/deck area facing east with a nice water view. The unit was clean and well appointed. The bed slept well. The couch was little worn, but I spent most of my time on the deck anyways. There is satellite TV and wifi. The kitchen has a microwave, stove, fridge, coffee maker and a small assortment of cooking tools. It would be hard to cook a full meal, but possible. We never tried since there's no lack of good restaurants on the island, but the kitchen was perfectly adequate for an easy breakfast or lunch. The best part of the place is that it catches the ocean breezes. They were constant and pleasant, keeping the apartment nicely cool. The home had a steady supply of water (hot or cold), though we bought water for drinking. The apartment is set in an agricultural part of the island. Part of the view from the apartment includes a well-manicured farm across the way, which has cows, goats and chickens. There were cows housed a few properties away. And horses were roaming about at times as well. Culebra is known for its chickens and that means roosters making themselves known early in the morning. But this is true about anywhere on Culebra. From the porch, you have a view of the ocean, just beyond the the farm in the foreground. It's a good view. Zoni is about a 15 minute drive from the airport or the downtown area and about 3 minutes from Zoni Beach. Indeed, we did walk to Zoni Beach most days (about 20 minutes with some steep up and down). Flamenco Beach is quite beautiful, but Zoni rivals it with a fraction of the people. Our hosts were responsive and helpful. One of the couples staying on the property were in a bit of a caretaker role and were always available if we needed anything. The hosts has vehicles you can rent for a lower cost than renting from Carlos Jeeps.

Our longest stay on Culebra to date.

Is 3 weeks too long to stay in Culebra?? Naaaa. This was our 6th time on Culebra and the first time we stayed at this property. It was a great place to call home while we were there. Spacious, Clean, well kept grounds. A plus was we were able to rent a vehicle from the owner, which added to the convenience. Right across the street is a working farm. Cows, horses, goats, chickens. The male goat is always by the road and loves to get his head scratched by my wife. They milk a few head of cows and sell the products (milk, cheese, eggs, produce, etc). They also have an elaborate system for raising fish for consumption and uses that nutrient rich water for hydroponics. It was my understanding that if the gate is open, you can go in. The owner was great and showed me around. They use the farm as a teaching tool for the local children and also for teaching others how to be self sufficient. Besides this little gem, Zoni beach is 5 min away. Of course, everything is close on the island. My favorite place to snorkel is Melones, which is only about 15 min away and takes me through town right by the store(s) for daily supplies. We will stay here again if its available. ... Did i mention that my wife was up every morning to watch the sunrise from the deck?

Beautiful views, quiet setting

We enjoyed our stay at Zoni Breezes! It was nice to enjoy the quiet solitude and be away from the activity of town at night. Only takes about 10 minutes to get to town and just a couple minutes to get to Zoni Beach. The house is well taken care of with the basics you need for cooking, etc. It will be nice when the awnings are replaced as I’m sure that will help keep the temperature down a little during the day. Debra was wonderful to work with and it was great to have them close by if we needed something. We definitely look forward to staying here again on our next trip back to Culebra!

Beautiful place and great service

Our few days in culebra was wonderful the island is enchanted and the property perfect. We have everything we need. It was clean, confortable and quiet. We were looking for a relaxing place and was perfect!! The management were very friendly and helpful. We really appreciate the fact that with short notice the management provide us with a car rental and we were able to get back to town early morning to catch our flight on time. Thank you for everything we will be back for sure!!
