Hut 34 at Cultybraggan Camp

Hut 34 is one of five beautifully modernised Nissen huts at Cultybraggan Camp, a former Prisoner of War Camp near the village of Comrie in Perthshire, now recognised by Historic Scotland as a unique heritage asset and the last remaining Prisoner of War Camp in Scotland.

Thanks to the vision of Comrie Development Trust, five huts have been transformed into spacious, sustainable self catering accommodation. Hut 34 retains its iconic curved form, with a striking red roof, crisp white frontage and black trim, set against the green backdrop of the Aberuchill Hills.

Inside, a bright open plan living area features blond wooden floors, soft neutral tones and clean white kitchen cabinetry. The living space includes comfortable seating with a double sofa bed and television, a dining table seating four, and a fully equipped kitchen. The separate bedroom features a king size bed, and there is a modern shower room finished to a high standard.

Cultybraggan Camp is home to local businesses and community groups, and guests can visit the on site exhibition on the camp`s history.

The accommodation was absolutely lovely, comfortable, great amenities. The location was so special and peaceful. I will be a regular here! I'm a veteran of Airbnb both in the UK and America and I can honestly say this is the best self catering accommodation I have had the pleasure of staying in. It was clean enough, but could maybe benefit from a deep clean a bit more often.

We loved the scenery and the wildlife. The cafe was really nice with friendly helpful staff. Hut 34 was well equipped, the shower was good, the kitchen had everything we needed. The museum was interesting with knowledgeable volunteers. We had a short trip into Comrie and liked the pub there. The community orchard was very well stocked. Auchingarrich Wildlife Park was great. An on site shop for essentials would be handy.

Dreich Weekend in Comrie

Great location for Loch Earn and Trossachs National Park. Pretty unique accommodation. Huts very well kitted out and basic essentials provided (coffee, tea, sugar, oil and washing-up liquid etc.). Even has boot trays to keep the floor clean and tidy. Comfortable, high quality, clean and quiet. Would definitely book again- shame about the weather!

Enjoyable stay in a unique place steeped in history

We liked staying here : and in particular the fact there was an onsite cafe. This saved us shopping for food during our stay. The only downside was that the hut was quite cold when we arrived. Granted there was an electric heater but we were unable to switch on the central heating. Also the pillows had seen better days. They were flat and very much needed replacing.
