The property is old and in desperate need of a refresh. The decor is quite funny (think retro 80s, with a Roman bath theme). It has a lot of potential but probably hasn't been renovated in 40 years. We had an issue with no hot water and there was only 1 staff member working that night - Param went above and beyond to fix the issue and to make our stay a pleasant one. The pool and hot tub are nice and overall the hotel was "fine" but for shoulder season, the price we paid was not worth what we received.

Facilities were slightly dated but good overall. Does appear they are renovating or refinishing some areas, including staining some wood. Waterslide and hot tub were great. Sauna was working well. Continental breakfast was good... basic but had a waffle maker. The restaurant at the hotel was actually surprisingly very tasty. The pet friendly room was in the back corner away from noise and foot traffic, which was nice. All in all enjoyable stay. Esso/Circle K across the street if you need anything, very walkable. A bit of a distance from 'downtown' fernie but nice trails around the hotel and along the river.

Pros and cons.

We checked in and were welcomed by the receptionist. Our room was in the basement so we took the lift down. The room was clean and tidy but I was disappointed to find that the sink in the bathroom was cracked badly as was one of the tiles on the floor. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning unit was quite quiet. The breakfast was available in a small dining area. Although there was enough choice the way it was laid out made it difficult to get to some of the items so at times there were queues. There were only a few diners so this was surprising. The cutlery was made of very flimsy plastic and each knife, fork and spoon were in plastic wrappers. They were difficult to use as they were very flimsy. Not what we would expect in such an up market hotel such as this one. The area around the hotel was very dirty as there was lots of rubbish lying around.

Backing onto the river was lovely, could do the river walk. The restaurant was very nice, good food and atmosphere. Room was a good size with a little deck looking at the river. Had a fridge which was important and all the amenities you expect. Comfortable beds is what we are always looking for and these were very. Managed to soak in the outdoor hot tub which was great.

This is a an older hotel which shows a little bit of wear and tear. Our sink was cracked in places and clogged. There seems to be a lot of wear in the furniture and carpet. The website says that they have a really good Indian food restaurant which we were looking forward to visiting it turns out that the restaurant on the website no longer exists. They should update their website. The continental breakfast in the morning was uninspiring a little bit of bread and muffins and some yoghurt, cereal, juice and coffee
