The Nordico Point Cabin
Welcome to Nordico Point.
Since 1984 our family has enjoyed the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Our private 4.5 acres w/1200' of lakeshore reminds us of some of the most beautiful BWCA campsites that we have stayed at.
Nordico Point aims to provide a similar experience for those who still desire a wilderness experience but no longer want to portage or sleep on the ground. And paddling is 100% voluntary.
PS - you can launch a boat, too - small boat(16ft max - just no wake board boats allowed;)
We offer Nordico Point on the BWCA "Leave No Trace" motto. This means, we do not provide bedding, toilet paper or any cleaning supplies or clean-up.
Our aim is to provide a similar experience to the Boundary Waters but w/o the portaging or sleeping on the rocks part - if you know, you know;).
But this does mean you bring your own sleeping bags and all materials needed, including cleaning supplies, towels & toiletries to be self sufficient(yep, means Toilet Paper, too - just like the BWCA).
Nordico Offers 4.5 private acres of Northern facing private peninsula that reminds us of a BWCA campsite. It is situated on Mitchell Lake which has no public access and only has a resort and 10 other homes on it. So this means the fishing is similar to the BWCA, as well.
We provide an aluminum canoe as well as lifejackets and paddles (in the utility room inside of the 2nd bedroom) for you enjoyment of the lake.
You will have access to the entire home, as well as the 4.5 acres. the outbuildings and garage are for family use. We offer Nordico Point on the BWCA "Leave No Trace" motto. This means, we do not provide bedding, toilet paper or any cleaning supplies or clean-up.

Very quite peaceful cabin! It was perfect for the two of us, and our two dogs. Beautiful views from the dock and fire pit. Kitchen was well stocked! We have already booked our next trip to Ely next September

We had a great time at the Nordico Point Cabin with 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. We spent a lot of time playing games at the table and paddling (we brought one extra canoe) on the wonderful (and quiet!) Mitchell Lake. This is a great option to introduce kids (or adults) to canoeing in a wilderness setting. We saw turtles, loons, beavers and even a mink and caught a few pike. Regrettably, the mosquitos interfered with much outside time off the water so we didn't take advantage of the fire pit areas, which are likely lovely during other times.Things others may want to know that aren't totally apparent:1) The bathroom/shower is in the bedroom with single queen sized bed. This means if people are occupying both bedrooms you'll likely want to keep the door to that bedroom open all night so others can access it as needed. Not a deal breaker, but important to know.2) The lake cannot be seen from the cabin itself. It's a short walk to the dock and lakeside firepit area.3) Unfortunately, you'll probably want to swim elsewhere. The dock is in a weedy bay, which is great for wildlife viewing (turtles would plunge into the water every time we came down to the dock), but even the foolhardy amongst our group wouldn't swim there. I was really surprised to read that another guests kids were jumping off the dock. We did find a few rocks on the northern shore to paddle over to and swim into the deeper water. Overall a great value, especially for being dog-friendly. Enjoy your stay!

It was a lovely property. Very easy to communicate with the host & all my questions were answered in a very timely manner. It was quite comfortable, and surrounded by nature. The lake is beautiful and quiet & perfect for kayaking (provided). The only bathroom, located in the master bedroom was a bit awkward at night. The distance from the cabin to the lake was further than I thought, not necessary a good beach or swimming, but our 8 year old loved jumping off the dock over & over. We enjoyed our stay!

Great spot! Plenty of room to cook, great fishing, quiet, and relaxing. We launched our small 12 foot boat which was awesome. A word of advice, if your boat is bigger than that, you might want to launch at the resort across the lake so there’s adequate space to back in. The lake is a short walk down the hill through a pretty path. I caught my first very large bass (a mounter!) and our dog who is fighting terminal cancer can happy and comfortable. He really liked the fan that was in the office. Lake is pristine with great swimming and sunsets. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the hosts for a great stay!

This cabin is very cozy, and conveniently located just 10 minutes from Ely. The best part of our stay was fishing off the dock - we caught lots of panfish and several sizable bass! It's very nice this property offers an aluminum canoe, kayak and paddles for use on the lake.

Great Wilderness Stay
We had a last minute pivot from a BWCA trip due to an ankle injury. This was a great choice. The lake has a classic Northwoods feel and the cabin is rustic with enough comforts to make it easy. We used the lake extensively, fished, paddleboarded, canoed and had day trips to Bear Head State Park and Ely.

Fishing
This property was exactly what we were looking for. The area was secluded and on a private lake which was perfect for our fishing trip.

A great little getaway from home
This property was perfect for us and our dog to be at while we were having loud work done on our house. The paths were great for taking them on walks and ensuring they were not stressed out. We would love to stay here again
