Very old and outdated, the building is under construction because it is literally falling apart. I really wanted to love everything about this place, but it's a no for me. For the cost of the old rundown rooms with smelly carpet, patched ceilings, and hallways with huge water damage marks, I could have stayed somewhere much more extravagant. There is also a cost for just about all of the amenities. I feel that with the place being under construction and in poor shape, more amenities should be available at no cost. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is absolutely amazing and the pianist in the evening on Saturdays (David) is superb.
There is some ongoing restoration work at the moment but the stay was still delightful. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and spread. All the meals were tasty.

We loved the history of the hotel and the gorgeous architecture. We were not as pleased that most restaurants were only open limited hours
Great place to spend time with family. It is a nice gateway from the city and not far from DC
The amenities were more than expected. We were pleased with the variety of things to do throughout the day and night. Did not like that one of the 2 elevators on our wing was out of order and the one in service did not work as it should. When asking staff about pools they neglected to inform us that the outdoor pool wouldn't open for several hours, so we hiked across the property to it only to find that on that day it didn't open until 2pm. Room cleanliness was just avg. Ceiling vent in bathroom covered in dust from years of buildup, a pretzel goldfish on the floor behind the nightstand, a hairtie under the desk. But bed linens were clean so that was good. One of the bedroom windows on 4th floor lacked a working lock and a screen. This would be a safety concern for some families with children.
I had zero hot water in my room and the towels were dirty
Staff were exceptional, we enjoyed our time there immensely.
Homestead has lost the plush of the old days. Tea time was a grand time of the day, but has been changed to a cart with 1 type of sweet and 2 hot teas. Dining room service needs to be more attentive to clients and not just serve food & not even refill water glasses. Wonderful grand hall. Great history tour. Will prefer Greenbrier in future.
Beautiful property! Loved the indoor pool & kids arcade area.
We had a lovely time from start to end! It’s beautiful out there, and the kids loved the ice skating and swimming pool areas, as well as the skiing and games room! The food was delicious, and the drinks lovely. We will be back in the summer for sure!
This is the second time I have visited the Homestead in the last 6 months. Everything has been wonderful except the dining experience. Both times we experienced overworked servers with a long wait. Then food id good but not great. Everyone and everything else is wonderful which is the reason we go back. Definitely need to focus on the dining experience.
They did a great job with the outdoor swimming pool area, they should renovate the Jefferson' hot springs since many of us returning visitors, want to see it renovated. The Omni should invest in fixing several aspects of the building that are deteriorating... Food was as always outstanding and the Staff wonderful.
