good location in lovely Viana, one of the best towns we visited in Portugal, our room was not all that big but nice, - the staff very friendly, - breakfast good, - beautifully restored house and original floors, clean and smart
...rather overpriced for what it is, although if you're arriving by train, it's hugely convenient. The flip side of that is a whole lotta noise from the station announcements if your room is oriented that way (word to the wise). We were also extremely disappointed with the restaurant -- wildly overpriced and the worst food we ate in Portugal. Avoid.
this is an historic house, located close Viana station and the historic center. everything is within walking distance from this property, which is very convenient. the house has been lovingly restored and kept most of its original details. the room was clean and well kept, even though the floor creaks - it is to be expected with a house this old. the bathroom was reasonable and soundproofing was a bit of a let down as we could hear steps and conversations on the hall. i recommend the restaurant of this property. i had the best steak of my life and the whole meal was quite wonderful. we were pleasantly surprised.
May be the best Hotel in Portugal! It is very clean, the staff at the front desk were amazing, very good breakfast. The room had a wonderful bed and was very very quiet. The Hotel is in a old building who as been renovated and they did a great job. If I had to go back in the area I will have no hesitation to booked it again.
We checked in by Sandra who showed us to our room which was absolutely stunning as is the hotel The hotel is 500 years old and has obviously undergone very sympathetic and in keeping restoration Our room was lovely big bed good quality linen and furnishing and great bathroom and lounge area. All areas spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good although I only ever have toast so am not able to comment anymore than that although what I saw laid out looked great. One of the things that will make this hotel last for me is Sandra she was is a real credit to the hotel and a mind of local information she really made our holiday that little bit more special so thank you Sandra. So if you want to have that special holiday in a lovely hotel and surroundings this is the place to go We travelled by train from Porto and the hotel is just near the station although you can't hear the trains so don't worry about that !!!
As we stepped into this hotel, we were greeted with friendly staff at the reception. This hotel have been tastefully renovated, retaining and infusing elements from the past and yet built with modern comfort. Nice to imagine how the past dwellers some 500 years ago, live in this beautiful house. Located just some 50m away from the train station and to the town center. There is a huge shopping mall just next to this hotel. Within walking distance to a wide selection of restaurants. Breakfast selection was good, which we enjoyed😊 Only problem, there were black ants in our room despite complaining to the staff. An area that they need to fix!😯
We thought the location of the hotel was ideal. Besides being near the train station, (This was not a problem with noise, and our room looked toward the station), there is also a modern shopping mall 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to another visit.
This hotel made me feel an aristocrat living in a different time. The rooms are cosy, the areas throughout the hotel are nicely decorated. Good location, walking distance from everything in town. Lovely breakfast and fantastic dinner.
Be fair, when have you been checked in and out with hearty handshake? All the time we had the feeling that the staff took care, starting from the check-in to the missing hairdryer to the service while breakfast and at the bar. The room was not very big, but fine. It was direction train station and there is no real annoyance due to noise even with open window - very view trains and little noise, I had air conditioning with much more disturbance. The breakfast is good hotel standard and again attentively service if you have any problems or wishes. Very dangerous or nice - depends on the point of view - is the exhibition of jewelry in the lobby ;)
This hotel is gorgeous! It is a 16th century manor house that has been updated with modern fixtures while keeping all the charm of the original house. Our room faces the front of the hotel and is very comfortable and impeccably clean. This hotel gets an A+ for its location -- within walking distance of the town center with many, many shops and great restaurants. The staff here are extremely helpful. There is an elevator if you need one. We ate breakfast every at the plentiful buffet every day. There is a large filagree jewelry display by one artist in the hotel lobby where there are gorgeous pieces for sale. The prices are fantastic and the designs by this woman are unique compared to the jewelry stores downtown. The price to stay here is a real bargain for the quality you get. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back to beautiful Viana do Castelo.
