In short, you might as well be in a youth hostel. There is no welcome at reception, no porters, no help with tours or any tourist questions, no wifi in the rooms !! no room service, no minbar. We stayed for one night and had an early start the following morning as we organised a boat trip so we asked if they could prepare a takeaway breakfast or sandwiches of sort to carry with us which they said they could but the following morning the lady was in shock when asked and here reply was simply "how can they prepare food for you alone, the staff only just came in"
Such a beautiful hotel. Our thanks especially to Illaria & Francesca: so obliging in everything we requested. Their English superb. Mario - on time, every time. We all loved this man from his meeting us at Olbia airport, our trip to Nuoro, shuttles to Cala G. So helpful and very charming in the nicest possible way. (Not sure he'd ever met anyone quite like we 3 ladies! Complimentary about my terrible Italian, thanks for persevering with my poor pronunciation. Eugene, lovely. All the staff fab. Use tuc-tuc from town, such fun. Hotel stunningly Sardinian (not dated as said in a review! Actually beautifully traditional Sardinian features in this stunning hotel, clean, fresh and delightful.) Pierro's wine, superb. Had to drink it as travelled only with hand luggage for the week. WILL go back to this hotel, this town, these lovely, lovely people. Church bells chime Ave Maria! Love Sardinia, loved Cala Gonone even more. Mwoa X. Grazie mille a tutti. Ciao e cividiamo, alla prossima volta. June Celia and June
Nice spacious resort, with a beautiful cozy reception. There is plenty of space to park the car, and you don't have to walk far to get where you want. My room had a sea and pool view, and there was nothing missing that I can recall. AC, hairdryer, mini-fridge, TV and Wifi... plus... the shower pressure was great. :) There was plenty to pick for breakfast - eggs, bacon, cereals, yoghurt, croissants, bread, milk, all kinds of juices, cookies, biscuits, toasts, jams, etc. Eating in the balcony outside was a luxury on itself, surrounded by flowers, with the gentle breeze of the coast passing by, and the colours of the pool brightening up. All in all, a great place to rest, relax and discover this beautiful part of Sardinia.
Fear not - the hotel is not in the city of Dorgali, rather on the outskirts of Cala Ganone (actually close enough to walk into town). It is a lovely, little resort. The rooms are pretty - very simple but nice. The setting is beautiful and the pool is very nice. The front desk staff are efficient and helpful. There is a nice bar and you can sit outside and have a drink. The breakfast was very nice and the dinner we had was fine. My big complaint - there is just no wi-fi at all in the rooms. It should be available everywhere now. If you can get a room around the pool, it is a lovely scene. They will take you to town in a van and arrange tours, etc. We had a car and didn't need the help (and they charge a service free for arranging things.) Except for the wi-fi, we just really liked this hotel a lot.
We booked the hotel on spec to finish off a lovely 9 days in Sardinia, after staying at 3 different places, it was lovely to get wonderful service ( upgraded room) very early check in at 9.30 am. The service from the staff has been excellent, not much to do in the area, but the pool was quiet and relaxing as it was end of the season. Very very helpful nothing was to much trouble.
An unspoilt treasure, far enough away from the tourist track but close enough to walk to the beaches and town. We stayed 6 nights bed and breakfast - breakfast good. Sampled a few local restaurants on an evening but ended up staying in the hotel to dine from their a la carte menu 2 nights as the food was amazing! Recommend their wines too! Lovely and helpful staff, clean room with lovely views over the pool and sea from the veranda and mountains behind. Rustic feel and beautiful flowers/ garden setting helped the stress ease away! Very quiet hotel though you can sometimes hear the entertainment from nearby hotels/ campsite - but not enough to be a problem. Wifi a bit hit and miss but that's a good thing when you want to switch off!
Very relaxing 10 day break. The pool was perfect for our teenage daughter to swim and chill round. The restaurant food was fantastic....with a great selection of wines. Our rooms where kept clean and tidy every day and it's a 10 min walk down hill to the beach. We would definitely go back.
I have spend two nights in this resort. My findings are: POSITIVE: * friendly and helpful staff * quiet location * well equipped rooms * pool * perfect breakfast (local products) NEGATIVE: * terrible WIFI, signal only in lobby and pool area (really hard to connect) * location is far out from town * you have to pay for hotel shuttle to the beach * i found some hairs under the pillow when i checked my room (the rest was clean) FACTS: Not for young people looking for some fun. If you depend on internet during your holiday go somewhere else. Good for couples looking for time to relax.
We booked to stay 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon trip round Sardinia. We booked air bnbs the rest of the time (which by the way were fantastic) but fancied a couple of days being waited on instead of self catering. We also just wanted to relax. That is something we easily did here. We had a great room (furnishings pretty basic but quite standard in Sardinia I think) with a fab terrace overlooking the pool and sea. Room 201. As we had booked for our honeymoon, we got a 15% discount and chilled prosecco in our room when we arrived! Great! The pool was not too busy but we waited until most people had left before going down and relaxing there with a drink from the bar. Breakfast was lovely - continental hams and cheeses with additions of scrambled egg and bacon if you wish. Lots of bread, cakes and croissants as well as fruit. Good start to the day. As we were chilling out for a couple of days, we didn't venture into Cala gonone for dinner - instead choosing to eat at the hotel restaurant both nights. We had a nice table on the terrace by the pool and the food was great. The first night especially - I had ravioli and lamb stew - on the second night it was still good although my husband thought the steak was too rare - he ate the same the night before and it was perfect - but he didn't say anything to the staff so can't complain really. There was a large group eating and I think the staff were a little overwhelmed getting their food out so others were not given as much attention maybe? Nonetheless it was still pleasant and we enjoyed the convenience and relaxed, romantic atmosphere. It is quite pricey but it's a hotel so to be expected. I think with wine for both nights we spent around €180 - so €90 a night. Some small niggles: We saw the notice at reception for wine tasting €5 per person in the hotel cellar so were excited to do that, however we were a little disappointed when they told us it would be impossible as they only had 4 people interested and needed 6 - we wondered why they were still advertising if it was impossible or why they couldn't say they would let us know if 2 others decided to join. We asked about booking a boat for the next day -but this was not available either - although in the end we booked ourselves by finding telephone numbers for companies online and it was €20 cheaper. Music and entertainment were going on late - i was hot in the room so opened the door to the terrace at 4am on Saturday and it was still going on! Nothing much the hotel can do but just for you to be aware - with the door closed you can't hear anything. Overall this is a great hotel if you are looking for a relaxing, romantic, stress free stay in pretty surroundings. It doesn't really feel like a hotel due to the apartment village style - more about the outside space than the indoor which is great. Staff were friendly and accommodating - shuttle bus service great when you just don't want to walk back in the heat! We really enjoyed our stay :) Thanks!!
Long weekend with family in this nice place with a friendly atmosphere. Professional and kind staff, and good restaurant: handsome and complete breakfast. Nice pool with a really helpful part for kids. Good position: few minutes walking from the Cala Gonone's centre.
