Visited the hotel with my family. Nice atmosphere with a beautiful restaurant with pool view. Rooms with spacious balcony or terrace. The packed lunch for our boat trip was perfectly arranged for, in bags with cooling elements. Half board dinner was perfect, with friendly staff. Breakfast good, but I would not expect Nescafe machine coffee in a 4 star hotel. Also the staff is somewhat bill focused, probably instructed so.
We have just come back from a 2 week holiday to Sardinia and stayed at the hotel Nuraghe Arvu for the 14 days. A lovely hotel-quiet, well run with a fantastic swimming pool. The hotel is around a 15-20 min walk to the nearest harbour town of Cala Ganone and 10 mins walk from the beach. Cala Ganone has numerous restaurants to eat at and the hotel itself has a very good restaurant. The rooms at the hotel were spacious and cleaned daily. The breakfast was great! Lots of choice. We had the pleasure of meeting, who we presumed was the owner of the hotel 'super Magic Mario!'. A really lovely gentleman, always smiling and happy to help. The whole hotel staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. This was a really enjoyable stay-we were two couples who had a very relaxing holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and families. The beaches around Cala Ganone are fabulous-mainly small pebbles (bring rock shoes) and the water is crystal clear! If yo get the chance hire one of the rubber boats and explore the coastline yourself-a truly wonderful experience, although it may seem expensive (€200) for the day, is worth every penny!! Enjoy!
Property is well cured and kept very clean, staff are friendly and helpful - even if we had cleaning staff barge into the room one morning and someone to check the minibar in the afternoon, someone is always present at the front desk. Short walk down to the beach or into town. The food prepared in the restaurant is fantastic! Good variation for the breakfast buffet, albeit plain. WiFi is very slow and practically non-existent in the rooms. Service is slow during dinner. Rental fee for pool/beach towels, check out time at 10:00, minibar isn't very stocked and a note saying not to put your own things in the fridge. Breakfast coffee is from a machine so you have to chase staff for something from the bar, but they will happily oblige. Found the bed to be very soft. Staff began cleaning pool mid morning even with people already in it.
Our second stay as there is really no alternative in Cala Gonone if you want great pool and no animazone. It's a little more relaxed on rules these days, which is much appreciated. Reception was quick to react when we didn't appreciate the view and put us in a better room. Pool area is great and facilities are really good overall. Staff is OK. Restaurant is ok but nothing special, there are better eats downtown. While the hotel itself is peaceful and relaxing, the neighbors (Beach Village and Palmasera) are high noise italian disco hotels and the sound leaks very easily. You get used to it over time but can be annoying if you're a light sleeper. Arvu's problem is value for money, it doesn't quite meet your expectations considering the charge.
Last minute booking of a week in Cala Gonone. Room was fine with a good bathroom. The hotel is immaculately maintained. The team there were all friendly and very helpful. Really enjoyed the pool and garden surrounds. Only negatives were some noise from neighboring property and didn't love the breakfast (although was plentiful).
We love this hotel in Cala Gonone. 2nd time we come here. We love being able to hit the sea in town in the morning (either with hotel coach or private car) and the pool in the afternoon. The rooms are cozy and cute & have AirCo. Having booked very late in the season, the room choice was limited. So we didn't have the best location (above kitchen, better close the toilet windows around lunch & dinner time). The pool in the center of the resort is great for kids. The breakfast buffet is large and well stocked. The resort being close to town, we walked down for dinner each evening. Bar service is great, love having Pina Coladas around the pool.
Amazing stay, amazing staff and amazing food...oh yes and amazing location and food. The room were great! so relaxing! I would highly recommend it to anyone :)! The food was always fresh - you can breakfast, lunch and dinner at that restaurant! Thanks for having us!
Very nice and convenient for families hotel. Comfort room is quiet big and we have been very comfortable with our 2 sons (4 year old and 9 months). The swimming pool is fantastic and the small one is good for children. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was very good. They can improve breakfast since it is quite industrial food and there is not fruit salad or fresh orange juice. But it is correct. Girl at the reception was very sweet with us and our babies and gave us information about activities. Surroundings are great!
This hotel was a great choice for our Sardinian vacation! It is 5-8 minutes by car to the closest beach and the main downtown with plenty of restaurant choices, supermarket, stores and places that organize boat trips and other day trips. If you don't have a child and is planning on a lot of boat trips, no need for car rental. It is a longish walk but can be easily made in 20-30 minutes by adults. But if you have kids, that is very hard, also because there is a long ascent back to the hotel form the beach. FYI, there is plenty of parking spaces at the hotel! We arrived late after midnight at the hotel and we still were very well received. Even with the kitchen being closed, the gentleman at the reception offered to warm up a frozen pizza for us - we were starving! he was very sweet. Everything was in place in our room when we arrived, including the cot. We had to pay extra for it and it was not cheap (around 120 euros for 8 nights?) but they changed the sheets every few days and the cot was very solid and comfortable. Others have been flimsy and very thin mattress - I guess it goes with free. The room was large, with a nice balcony. The bed was queen but be aware that they put together two single mattresses. If you like to snuggle with your partner that can be tough. We have a toddler and were happy enough if we got a full night of sleep! The whole hotel is very quiet at night, so we did not have any issues with noise except for a karaoke that kicked off EVERY day at 9pm or so! I don't think it was very close but because that whole area is so quiet at night we could very clearly hear them till around midnight or so. Not so loud, but enough to be a bit of an annoyance. The place is perfectly well kept: from plants to cleanness to organization, everything was in perfect shape! The only part that was not very motivating was the playground. That area needs a complete remodel, from ground up. The floor is uneven and my child fell a few times there. It would also terribly benefit from a shade structure, it is impossible to go there after the sun is up! The pool was SO clean! Water was sparkling and though it was very cold during the day it really warmed up at around 4 or so, so I recommend to try later i the day, especially with kids. Plus the hotel is so peaceful and the views of the mountains are amazing! The breakfast was enough for us: selection of breads, toasts, cakes, cookies, cheese, meats, eggs, coffee machine, sparkling and still water, yogurt, cereal and fruits. The only thing I missed was oatmeal, but aside from that was fine. We had dinner at the hotel one night and the food was outstanding! We had sea food cooked to perfection, super fresh. Table wine was also great, as expected in Italy right? The staff would really make our day so much brighter! Already at breakfast we would come with a toddler that was moody and so temperamental and their good mood, flexibility and kindness REALLY made a difference for us! At the end, we knew them all by name, my toddler would go to the kitchen to visit the chef, etc. Super sweet! A spot that shouldn't be missed: a cafe right at the same road as the hotel, small place, kind of a smokers stop, it has great capuccinos! We stopped there a few times as our toddler napped in the car :) We stayed here for a total of 8 nights. We recommend this place to all that wish to have quiet, peaceful and beautiful stay.
Helpful and friendly staff with good English but always speak Italian first. The pool is enormous with lots of loungers, deckchairs and brollies. Breakfast buffet is good but gets a bit boring after a week. Fantastic views of the bay and a 15 minute walk to the beach and resteraunts/bars. Well maintained grounds and spotlessly clean rooms. Car and bike parking on site.
