We prefer to stay in a Melia Group hotel; had been to Melia and Sol hotels so thought we would try Tryp. Learned they are mainly business visitor hotels but Tryp Port Cambrils caters extremely well for tourists. Good location about 10 minutes from beach (depends how fast you walk!) and some rooms even have a sea view. In very quiet area. Could not have wished for a more comfortable hotel - enormous bed in premium room very comfortable. Good bathroom facilities and capacious, fluffy dressing gown. Spotlessly clean hotel altogether. Very well run, organised calm prevails. Breakfasts excellent and tried the buffet one night. Buffets can be boring or unimaginative but this one was very good. Great staff, really friendly and happy to chat. Only criticism is the same wherever you go in Spain. Very limited English TV channels on the very good tv and being a business hotel the choice was BBC World News, Bloomsburg and another business related channel. But hey, who goes to Spain to watch TV. Only criticism outside the hotel - of Cambrils itself. Totally unimpressed by the quality of the beachfront restaurants. Some of the over priced food was awful. There is a delightful family run, Chinese Restaurant (Nuevo Shangai) not far from the hotel, good food, friendly family and at times you will find their daughter practising classical music in the corner on her really good keyboard. Spent two pleasant evenings there. Local Airport at Reus is small but well organised. Taxi to hotel from airport is presently 35 euros and takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on traffic. For first time, tried Jet2.com for flight. Good experience - better leg room than many other airlines.
After our third stay in Tryp hotel by Melia in Cambrils, we would like to thank all the employees. Everyone from the ladies who were responsible for cleaning the rooms, the ladies and gents from restaurant/bar and last but not least: their colleaques from the reception, they were all outstanding After 3 years in a row, for us it was feeling coming home When in future the bathrooms get their upgrades, think about walk-in-showers instead a bath, especially for older people, it would be much easier for them.
We were visiting Cambrils for a two week holiday for the first time and had chosen a superior room on the seaward side. THE ROOM: Immaclately clean and kept so throughout.Good to have the luxury of towelling dressing gowns , slippers etc.The free safety deposit box was a plus. The bed was comfortable and of enormous dimensions-you could have got lost in it. THE PUBLIC AREAS : Sparkingly clean. Furniture of modern design and well maintained. The outside area had comfortable easy chairs and tables for those who wished to sit outside under the umbrellas. THE POOL : Cool in the first week but pleasantly warm on the second week. Well maintained , guard on duty,no lesser spotted "towel placers"!!. Sun beds easily found. RECEPTION: Multi-lingual, helpful and highly efficient.Even the students from the Escuela de Hoteleria were exceptionally good. RESTAURANT: We have never seen staff working so hard ,when courses were finished the plates were removed instantly.A good selection of food was served both at breakfast and dinner. Perhaps the salad options could have done with some variation - it was a bit boring after two weeks. The grill seemed to be too hot and all of the fried eggs were singed around the edges. Perhaps an ability to change the heat level would help the staff.Soups were really tasteless! The sweets were the best we have ever seen in a Spanish hotel The pasry cook was really imaginative. OVERALL : This was an excellent hotel. We will be back !
Stayed in a Standard room for 3 nights as part of a tour group. Room & bathroom were clean and kept to a good standard during our stay. Plenty of space to hang clothes. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the aircon worked, the shower was good. Our room looked over the pool on 5th floor, this was good as it had the sun in late afternoon and evening. Other reviewers mentioned the trains.......they didn't seem that noticeable, maybe we were just worn out from sightseeing and too tried to hear them !! The location is good, just a short stroll to the beach and the shopping area. An Aldi store just a couple of minutes walk under the railway bridge. Very good promenade area here too. We found the food fine, plenty of choice in the buffet restaurant . We had breakfast and dinner, always finding something to eat. We would consider this hotel again and would look at hotels in this group for others areas of Spain.
My wife and I visited this hotel for a week the hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly we had a premium room which over looked the sea 500 yards away also had a massive bed and dressing gowns were supplied the TV had no English speaking programs only news the breakfast was very good and the pool area was great apart the noisey trains every half hour and no toilet which you had to go into the hotel lobby for the nearest one and there was a sign saying do not come into lobby with wet costumes apart from that the hotel was great
My only problem is, in the restaurant the groups mostly at the weekend, monopolise the area and make it difficult for the other guests to find a table. It also makes it very noisy as they all arrive at three same time.
Only little fault dinner at 8 a little to late the rest of the Hotel was great The resort is first class and lots of great restaurants and bars Great seafront walk clean beach and bus services easy to use to most places
I'd booked Tryp thinking it was melia. It wasn't quite but the hotel is nice enough. The staff are friendly and it is 5 minutes from the beach and the local restaurants. The bike hire is convenient and you can easily cycle to salou along the cycle paths if that is your thing. The room we had was a suite which was very nice but there is street noise and the doors bang a bit. Fortunately the hotel seems to attract thoughtful people who don't make too much noise. Food is a bit depressing but this is more to do with the cave location of the restaurant which wasn't tempting to sit it although was ok for breakfast. The pool needs renovating as many of the parasols are not functional. In short a nice place to spend a few days in cabrils.
Tryp Port Cambrils is a lovely hotel, big bright bedrooms and very friendly staff. Thought the food was a bit disappointing- same dessert every night and not a lot of variety. Very quiet if that's what you want. No entertainment at night. Very close to excellent golf courses and also only 1and 1/2 hrs to Barcelona by train. Lots of fabulous shops nearby. If it's peace and quiet you're after this is the place to stay.
Another relaxing time in the Tryp Port ! A fabulous welcome back again from all the staff and they did wonders getting the room ready a bit early for us too. New lovely showers instead of the shower over the bath in some rooms now (More to follow they say!) We again stayed for Half-Board & were happy with the varied food choices again, however we did not avail ourselves of the Cava at breakfasts ! :-D (Must try harder next time!)
